I for one like the fact that Leto doesn't seem to be directly grouped with the rest of the cast. I'm not sure the reasoning, if any, behind that. He's not in that photo and he wasn't with the rest of the cast at SDCC.

The more he separates himself from the rest, the more it adds to his character's appeal IMO.

  2. The trailer annoyed me for some reason but it may grow on me if I watch it again. I loved the Superman / Batman trailer but this one just seemed to be nails on chalkboard to me.
    +1

The BvS trailer was jawdropping, giving a minor sense of just how epic it's going to be. :ohnoez::popcorn:

Suicide Squad just isn't connecting. No clue what their mission is ("go save the world " is too generic to give a care). No clue who to root for? (not a big fan of glorifying evil). And no clue why I should pay money and park my butt in a seat. ???

It would be great if those who are excited by the Trailer would specify why they are. :wishluck:

Right now it's coming across as a muddy Expendables 7, sort of, without the story or the stars.

As one of the many who enjoyed the trailer, I can chime in on this one.

I definitely agree with you that it would have helped for the "mission" to have been outlined a bit. It's the first trailer and I expect to learn more as we go along. Though it was just a teaser, the BvS teaser didn't shed much light on the plot, but the new SDCC trailer has, and it's really ignited interest IMO.

What excites me the most about Suicide Squad is Jared Leto as the Joker. Villains have the ability to define super hero films. Nicholson and Ledger are good examples of this. If Leto's Joker can be to the DCCU what Hiddleston's Loki has been to the MCU, they may really be on to something. The criticism and knee-jerk reaction to his tattoos, metal teeth, the fact that it's only been 7 years since Ledger's portrayal -- none of those things bother me personally. If Leto's interpretation is good, another portrayal by an actor 7 years ago in a separate universe doesn't take away for me. If a character like the Joker existed in the real world, I could easily see him looking like Leto's version.

The castings seem strong, and I'm hopeful that the plot will be too.

  5. The Joker turns 75 years old today -- April 25th, 2015.

Less than 24 hours prior, the first official image of Jared Leto as the Joker was revealed.

It's new, it's different, it isn't living off past interpretations, but I like it.

If the Joker were to exist in the real world, this would be it.

  6. Civil War will be a 1.5-1.8 Billion movie

BvS will be a 750-900 Million movie

I believe that if Furious 7 can bring in $1,150,000,000+...and it's only been out for just over a month, so that total will grow...BvS should do better than 750-900 million. The Dark Knight Rises pulled in just under $1,100,000,000 and it was absolutely ridden with plot holes.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Civil War bring in 1.8+ billion, but if BvS is promoted the right way, it should do better than your estimate IMO.

  7. I really like what they are giving us plot wise.

The timing was awful, as the SW trailer was just epic, but I still am looking forward to this movie only second to SW.

I'm a fan of both Star Wars and DC and to be honest, I enjoyed the Dawn of Justice trailer a lot more.

    You need help.

There just wasn't much plot-wise. Seemed to me as if most of the excitement came from nostalgia.

It's a teaser. What plot are you expecting? A teaser isn't even a full trailer, let alone the film.

    doh!

I didn't realize it was just the teaser. To be honest, I wasn't paying close attention to the video's run-time, nor have I kept up to snuff with the details of when what is being released Star Wars wise.

I was just speaking of it in comparison to the Dawn of Justice trailer -- which got me more excited for that film than the Star Wars teaser did, to spark my interest for Episode 7.

  9. Siegel and Shuster, who were both Jewish, created Superman to be the "Champion of the Oppressed."

"Nazism was rising up and a lot of innocent people were being killed, countries were being invaded, a lot of innocence slaughtered and I felt that the world desperately needed a crusader, if only a fictional one." -Jerry Siegel

If they are using symbolism that is even Nazi-like in reference to Superman, they are straying very far from the original heart of the character.

I doubt they are going there with Superman. If anything, it may even be this militant group that wants to follow in his footsteps like the Sons of the Batman in The Dark Knight Returns.

    That could be it.

  10. And there was some symblism that goes by quite fast in the trailer.

    3mMQWg5.png

Riddler's '?' and those soldiers kneeling to Superman with his 'S' on their shoulders.

There's been a few actors recently talking about wanting to play The Riddler. Maybe there is a reason that has come up a few times in backroom interviews.

Those soldiers look like Nazi's. If Snyder ends up making the audience empathize with Luthor and make Superman out to be the enemy that would be crazy cool.

  11. Why is it that the ebay .5 that recently sold got a blue label with color touch and glue on the cover, but the .5 posted by Wayne Tec got a purple label? I can understand allowing a little glue on a blue label (though I think any glue should just be be noted on the label like tape is and given a blue label), but I don't understand why even a little color touch is allowed. Isn't most color touch minimal to begin with; so how is that line decided?
If the CT or glue does not increase the grade of the book, the CT or glue is considered a defect, counted as a foreign substance and factored into the grade as a defect and the book goes into a blue label.

Look at the scan of my copy. Do you think the CT improves the grade?
