  3. Firstly a very warmto the boards, Padr3! Thanks for sharing your wonderful (but all too familiar) story with us!
  4. THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE! Liquids and solids are simply "absorbed" as needed through the power of THE FORCE! I find your lack of faith in the force disturbing. Your feeble mind is no match to the power of THE FORCE! And now you must DIIIIII............
  5. divad et al, The constant reposting of the original post in this thread is more confusing than it is beneficial. I would kindly ask that if you have any new recommendations that you please limit your new post to the revisions or additions you are recommending. It makes it easier to review and modify if the information is recognized as a valuable addition or contribution and is less confusing for everyone. And just to clarify, yes - this is an open forum thread but the intention was never to allow anyone to update the last revised set of guidelines. The intention was to keep the original set of guidelines listed in the first post. Additions and revisions will be modified there and only there. The constant copy and paste, modify, add and delete is too confusing and not (in my opinion) of benefit to the intention of this thread. I would kindly ask that you refrain from any future posts of similar nature. Regards, Tim
  6. Thanks divad! I have incorporated some of the information but not all of it into the original thread. I trust you understand. If you have any more suggestions they are seriously appreciated. Cheers! Tim
  7. Firstly a very warmto the boards! If you are looking to improve your grading skills check out the PGM Forum but read the PGM Guidelines and Helpful Hints first Here are some quick links for you: PGM Guidelines and Helpful Hints Hey buddy, can you spare a grade? (PGM Forum)
  8. Absolutely! The book looks stunning and if you just cover up the "1." you have an "8" because that's what it looks like if you don't look too close! (yaya ignore the little missing corner pieces too) Doc Joe! This is truly a winner!!
  9. It really is the nicest presenting 1.8 I have ever seen of that or any book. Agreed, seriously nice Agreed! Best presenting 1.8 I've ever seen. Why is that book a 1.8 ?? Nothing in the description gives a clue I would suspect that the cover being almost torn in half is a major contributing factor! But it sure looks purty!!
  10. Maybe not much but I bet it sure felt good going into that room!
  11. Incorporated into the Guidelines #9 Thanks for the thought! Cheers! Tim

  16. Hi Scott, I had posted it under hints but I have since added it under the guidelines item #3 as well with your wording provided. I too believe that a clean palate is best when looking to grade a book. And thanks for your inspiration! Cheers! Tim

  19. Occasionally! But I don't go out of my way to get them. I think the publishers have gone way overboard with all the variant covers.
  20. I for one do not look at anyone else's grade score prior to arriving at my own. I usually scroll down to the bottom or top of the post being sure not to see any scores that may influence my opinion. Be honest and diligent. Review the book and come up with a grade that you are comfortable with. Enter your grade and post. Then go back and do comparisons to the other forumites. Short of that we could ask that everyone put their grade scores in spoiler tags but that would be impossible and in my opinion a hard sell as it means every time you want to see the other grades you have to open the spoiler tags for comparison. Logistically a nightmare I would think. My grade score:
  21. What I don't know Google and Wikipedia does! GPA = Generalized Procrustes Analysis It is a method of statistical analysis that can be used to compare the shapes of objects, or the results of surveys, interviews, or panels. It was developed for analysing the results of free-choice profiling, a survey technique which allows respondents (such as sensory panelists) to describe a range of products in their own words or language. GPA is one way to make sense of free-choice profiling data; other ways can be multiple factorial analysis, or the STATIS method. The method was first published by J. C. Gower in 1975.
  22. Some very nice looking books greggy! (thumbs u
