  1. I agree that they don't care about the secondary market, but how exactly does producing two additional variants at 500 copies per, besides the TB variant and the reprints, attract readership? One big thing that attracts readership, besides producing a good book with great writing and art, is the price and collectibility of a book's back issues. I think Kevin is right that these Comics Pro and CBLDF variants just dilute the collectibility and value of issue 1. I think the regular cover and reprint of issue would've kept chugging along were it not for the release of these other two variants. But since these variants' release, the prices of the older issue 1s have taken a hit.

Not sure what impact these developments will have on the TB variant.

I think that was what I was trying to say, great post (thumbs u

  2. And the normal Image copies are selling well.

    Plus the NYCC.

Things are moving for sure - sold 5 this week.

    Slow and steady.

The Detroit comiccon seems to be the worst selling one, by far.

Which is strange as I believe its either the 2nd rarest or tied with the RRP [not sure on this print total]

  3. Omg!!! Again with the variant rage? Don't buy the f-ing variant if it gets your balls in such a twist!!!!

    LMFAO.

I don't buy the variants but they hurt the regular cover ebay sales.

They don't care about the secondary market, they are trying to gain readership.

Isnt the secondary market a driving force in many of the books that develop readership bumps? To totally shut out and "not care" about a sure fire way to increase direct sales would be very naive.

In other words, they absolutely care about the secondary market no matter what they say publicly. Its most definitely not their primary objective but if they are good business people they for sure want that part of the industry buzzing.

I believe its a fine line in trying to gain readership in the begging and still having some down the line. I believe many creators today are trying to start something off so its a grab as much as I can right off the bat type of a deal but I think that hurts sales later down the road where the 2nd hand market makes its biggest push.

Then again, who knows, maybe I am wrong and creators have zero business sense and only attack one avenue. Ive been wrong before lol

  4. I don't come into the modern thread often, but how is this 105 pages long before the book hasn't even come out yet?

Good crew working on the book, talk of no variants and then variants come out, speculation, fun, interesting concept and because Im in here lol

  5. Moderns I'm glad I purchases none of:

Any issue of Spider-Man since Slott took over.

    SEX 1

Blackacre ( Although the cover for issue 4 is sick )

    Five Weapons

Peter Panzerfaust 1 CGC 9.6 for over 400!!

You are missing out. Blackacre has been very enjoyable so far, 5 weapons is a fun read and Sex was so-so but IMO worth a few issue read

I never read Spider-man and we will see on PP

  6. I luv dis series.

OMG that was an awesome issue!

    +1 Top notch!

This book is without a doubt getting better and better. I think we will look back at the end of the year and see Bedlam in the running for title of the year

  7. So what's the deal with Invincible 19? Has it been confirmed that the premise for Nowhere Men comes from this issue?

Per e.s. in the Nwm thread, its an older/different concept that was totally revamped. The current version of the book was first previewed in the SDCC 2010 yearbook.

I dont believe that is correct. The SDCC is just a splash page isnt it? I believe the first preview was Walking Dead 99, 2nd preview Harvest 4 and 3rd preview PP#7

  8. The other thing that I didn't notice is that it's listed price is 3.50. No biggie, just noticed it...

In done with my comments... I think I will end every post like this from now on so I feel the power like Ryan's 3rd person.

Glad I got mine at the $1.75 price each.

Dang. That would have been nice

  9. i'd rather read about scientists than a mass murderer

I can see that for some people.

However with Dexter, The Cult, The Following etc etc there is for sure a market for Bedlam content

  10. Haven't gotten around to watching "The Following," but I hear it's pretty good, almost as good as "Dexter."

    Bedlam is sweet!

The Cult looks like it will be much better than The Following [which I like]

  11. Just wanted some opinions on what is going on with the value of the first issue of Bedlam. I personally love the series but it appears to be sinking fast with lead shoes value speaking. Thoughts? Too many variants? How can it grow legs?

If anyone says its because of too many variants, that is total nonsense. NWM is super hot and has nearly as many [with more reprints]

Not really sure what the deal is with the selling price but its worth its weight in gold in terms of content to me
