(Cross posted from my comic journal) My WDC&S 1 - 100 collection passed a significant milestone this week. I picked up a couple of 1945 issues, which filled in my 'second half of the century'. I now have the run from 49 -100. Of course, that's the easy part. I'm now 68/100, which means that I have only 16 of the first 48. Here are the issues 49 - 100. (Clickable thumbnails)

Yes, there's some great artwork in there, and the stories are an improvement on many of their contemporaries. Here's a couple of splashes from DMQ #6

Here's my DD26. Another nice copy (an eBay fine that cost $20 ) but again not in the 9.x grades.

I PM'd moloch about a book in that thread last week. Also unread... hope he's OK.

It's a new one on me. It's not listed in either of the histories of Australian comics I own.

Dunno about that. I have a lot of ECs and there isn't a badly cut or centred copy among them. And I don't recall seeing any.

This was a wonderful decision. Having you share your collection with us has been one of the highlights of the boards in recent times.

And gets a bunch of passive agressive thread krapping for his trouble. Things are becoming much less polite around here.

Wow, really nice copy too. I really like those early Four Colors. I've been looking for the right 108 for a while now.

I just picked up a Valor #3 to complete my run of this five issue title. While I'm trying to finish off longish runs of EC's 'New Trend' titles like Two-Fisted Tales (have 18 of 24), Weird Fantasy (13 of 22) and Weird Science (16 of 22), I like to also have one of the short 'New Direction' titles on the go to give me a chance of finishing something off sooner rather than later. Finding ECs in nice midgrade seems to be harder than finding low grade copies or high grade copies, thanks to the Gaines file copies. I bought my first Valor in December 2012, so about 18 months for this 5 book run. The run before that was Aces High (also 18 months over 2010 - 11): I think the next run will be Piracy (7 issues), and I'll keep working away at Mad 1 - 10 (7 of those so far). The only other EC run I've completed is the 15 issue Frontline Combat (two and a half years for that one, and now one of my favourite comic series): Much as I love the right 'one off' book in my collection, there's something especially nice about finishing off a run.

You are a variant chaser? In this case I paid FMV for a variant cover modern.

Happy Free Comic Book Day duck fans. Here's something to look out for from Fantagraphics: Both books have the same contents, but I like the variant '90 degree rotation' covers. There are two Don Rosa stories, the cover story from WDC&S 610 (which is excellent) and - even better - the 'Triple Distlefink' story from Uncle Scrooge 310. That issue is hard to find and expensive, so it's nice to get the Rosa story reprinted.

Very nice Sqeggs! I love those file copies too. I paid a relatively big premium for this one on Heritage: I was the underbidder for this on Heritage, and then bought it for half the price on eBay six months later. My kind of flipper.
