  1. Agree with all (and in fact, I sold to Kyle here right when he just joined up). I always say the same thing every time this issue comes up. I've had dozens of successful sales to single-digit-posters (and even members with literally 0 posts). My only unsuccessful transaction here was to someone with 1500 posts who went south and didn't finish a time pay. For me there is little to no correlation between reliability and post count, and in the broader picture I'd be unhappy with excluding newbies who just joined up and are testing the waters. There is obviously risk involved in buying from someone with no references who just joined up. When has that ever not been true? +1 and I was one of your single-digit-sales, 2 posts I think, always grateful Jon (thumbs u My first ever post on the boards was 'I'll take it but can't work out how to post the icon' in a PointFive thread. I also didn't say what it was I was taking, but still...
  2. Johnny Cash filled in for A.P. after he died. There was a nice chat and duet featuring Maybelle Carter and Doc Watson on the "Will the Circle be Unbroken" album (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band). Carter Family and Johnny Cash
  3. Very nice 6.0! Exactly my kind of book.
  4. This is a great collection Marty. I really like the diversity of it.
  5. Great book Twisty! Now I need an upgrade.
  6. I've got that Our Gang. With Walt Kelly and Carl Barks on board, the 8 - 36 run is pretty good. Only I may provoke silence.
  7. Agreed - and it would be good if any comic company today had the market of Dell!
  8. Good strong colours though - always a bonus on FH books.
  9. You don't already have one? Couldn't you just pick one up when you were at Metro Funny you should say that... I looked long and hard at the CGC 6.5 copy they have while I was there. It didn't quite make the cut. Lovely book but with a detached corner triangle. Very close to pulling the trigger...
  10. Fantastic comic - #1 on my Wings to find list.
  11. Love it! I've been looking for a Four Favorites #11 (war bond cover) for years but haven't seen one come up for sale in any grade. So, yeah, they might be a little hard to find...
  12. Love that Tarzan back cover group shot - those look great! (So many comics, so little time money.) I know there's an EC thread now, but I prefer this one. More Kurtzman goodness on this cover.
  13. I won this beaut on Comic Connect in February: When I dropped into the metro offices to collect it (and to be gobsmacked by the art on the walls there!) I picked this one up as well:
  14. Thanks for the prod 40 yr. I got a copy for Christmas and haven't read it yet. But I did note the beautiful illustrations!
  15. Just finished this little run of 'rocket ship' Weird Science Fantasy. Took me longer than I thought - with these books I think a low grade run or high grade file copies is relatively easy. Finding decent midgrades of all six took a while. I'm glad I persevered though.
  16. I like this AA title. Swords and sandals.
  17. Indeed it does. It also has a magnificent Jack Davis cover, which captures the terror of air warfare rather than making it a 'knights of the sky' romanticised image.
  18. I know what you mean. Those last few are 'by the numbers'. Still, even second rate Barks is better than a lot of what followed. Nice book, btw.
  19. Gotta love the long-neck Donalds. nice pickup Bill.
  20. Yes, I think that's right. The story was also reprinted (beautifully) in the Another rainbow 'Mickey Mouse in Color' book. I read it the night before last, and it's a lot of fun.
  21. That's cool - I have a very soft spot for giveaway comics.
  22. Marty, I collect these war bonds covers (and I just got my own copy of that one, only 68 years late ). I've wondered how much impact the war bonds ads had on kids - and now I can ask one! Did it make much impression on you - such as asking the folks about buying bonds etc? That's what they were meant to do, of course. Or did you just skip straight to the stories? (War bonds covers thread here)
