  1. Terrible attitude from a clerk over such a very common book. It's getting close to the release of the second film and possible that they believe there's a mug out there who'll be desperate and ignorant enough to pull the trigger. I've experienced far too much self-important comic terrorism over 40 years of collecting. Good description.
  2. I didn't know that! Learned something there. Because of Thomas' Golden Age nostalgia it doesn't surprise me, though.
  3. I thought it was spoiled by the use of the 'if I hadn't done this I'd be just as bad as the villain' trope when I read it again recently. Mike Zeck drew it. Actually the first time I'd seen his comic art. Perez drew the Logan's Run film adaptation.
  4. Yes. My language tends to be much more critical and my tolerance much lower in my old age.
  5. On the basis of what's been expressed in this thread, I'm expecting it to be Scandinavia's biggest film of 2017, Sharon.
  6. An alien almost in Al Feldstein's style here.
  7. Looking back at the criteria I listed here, many would say that, unlike Wolverine 3, the only attribute possessed by the Batman vs Superman Ultimate Edition is 'dark and intense', and I really like that film. So, I'm fairly confident I'll rate this one even more highly.
  8. Logan's Run 6 is a fairly slight and forgettable story, with some okay Zeck artwork.
  9. I actually don't mind dark and intense films as long as they're well-paced, well-acted and have a good story and a bit of variety. That will tend to pull me back for repeat viewings if I get the Blu-ray.
  10. I don't really think that Starlin took much from the Fourth World other than referencing some characters such as Metron, Darkseid and Highfather / Izaya.
  11. I've had some experiences like that. - Told that all the books were 25p, I pull a couple out and the seller goes straight for the OSPG. - Book exchange with boxes of 25p comics, proprietor knows that I'm a keen collector, rushes up to me and aggressively demands that I'm going to pay him 50p a copy. In both cases I walked out and never went back. Couple of decades ago now.
  12. I've been reading comics for over 40 years and can still find new material with great stories and artwork.
  13. Iron Fist's costume always looked like a rip -off of Deadman's to me.
  14. Adams did try to write his own stories, at Continuity, Batman Odyssey, etc., but compared to Starlin he's terrible at it.
  15. BVS was up against Zoolander 2 and Fifty Shades of Black in the 'worst of ' awards. I haven't seen those films, but I can't believe for a second that it's a fair comparison.
  16. I started reading and collecting comics in the 70s, and I have a natural focus and nostalgia for BA. I kept up with new releases throughout the 80s Copper Age and 90s Modern Age until several years ago, and again with back issues, raw and slabbed, it's been primarily BA and with easily a 95 % plus bias this way. I don't really need much that was published 1980 onwards and I'm not interested in paying nosebleed prices for older pre-70s material when I'm happy enough with reprints. Even though I read stories from all Ages, I put 70s books first if I'm thinking about buying originals.
  17. I didn't like the rock troll look of Doomsday and Luthor was a bit irritating.
  18. Yup. Totally undeserved. One of last year's best super-hero films when watched as the Ultimate Edition.
  19. They could call the storyline The Amalgam Project. Oh, wait, that's already been done. No surprise there, then.
  20. The list isn't at all bad towards the top end, but further down there are a few debatable, quite polarising choices. It's always going to be the case.
  21. The style and colouring reminds me of Clayton Crain's X-Force artwork.
