  1. Did they make you eat that in hospital...? I heard the food was bad but... What's wrong with bubble and Squeak The way my Mother used to cook it I hope you didn't try the version they had for the Premier Inn breakfast. Horrible.
  2. I wondered why I got a PM about this very ordinary, easy-to-find issue.
  3. At first glance you'd never think that the cover is by Steranko, but I suppose Sinnott's inking dominates there?
  4. Nothing about the Ultimate Edition on Amazon UK’s website. Thanks for the info, Nick.
  5. Yeah, has anybody announced that the Blu Ray will be released on July 16, 2016 with both a PG-13 and R rating versions? It would be interesting to have a one-disc version similar to the X-Men : Days of Future Past Rogue Cut, which could be watched either as the cinema release or with the additional scenes seamlessly integrated.
  6. Probably. I'm one of the few who loved Sucker Punch. I'm another in this select group.
  7. It sounds as if the film has been as polarising as Sucker Punch was. I don't get to the cinema anymore, and so I'll treat myself to the Director's Cut Blu-ray.
  8. I'm waiting for the R-rated Director's Cut Blu-Ray. Judging from Nick's review, it should then be a 10 / 10 super-hero film. That's good enough for me.
  9. That episode always seems to get panned in reviews. I suspect that I enjoy it because I’ve read far too many Marvel Monster and Alien Invasion comics from the 50’s to early 60’s era.
  10. As a Quasar fan, this is an interesting tie-in story which features the original Marvel Boy...
  11. I could have written this myself. Couldn't agree more. A nice undercurrent of darkness and foreboding, a mad and paranoid Batman, an elegant Wonder Woman who (gasp!) doesn't sound American. Some good lines and nice fanboy moments. I like the tack they're taking. This makes it sound as though I'll enjoy the R-rated Director's Cut more. Waiting for the Blu-ray for me. Possibly tonally similar to Watchmen, then?
  12. A fairly verbose piece which condenses down to 'Superman has killed, several times, in the comic books'. If you already know that, the scene in the film isn't surprising or shocking.
  13. I did enjoy the way the episodes were done in different styles, a bit of variety.
  14. A shame. I always looked forward to your threads, Mike.
  15. We like to keep away from the riff-raff. .... this is probably best...... CG is a cesspool of viciousness...... a whirlpool of pent up frustration and latent deviancies of the most abominable nature ...... it's a little better here..... GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) It's all of the above here, but done with better, English manners.
  16. Curious, would you consider a character's true first appearance in a book or pulp as their first appearance? Or does it have to be drawn along with the story - not just cover art. Conan and the Shadow come to mind as possibilities... A pulp or book is a different animal than a comic book story, so no. And when you get right down to it, comic magazines are just larger format comic books. Look at Marvel Preview, or Epic Illustrated, for example. They are comic books only bigger. Not to mention that comic book publishers referred to their comics are "Comic Magazines" for decades. When you take that into account, the distinction between comic "book" and comic "magazine" seems even less important. Less important to me anyway. I know some will not agree with that. To me, apart from the size, exactly the same material and so no difference. On par with each other.
  17. From the London convention, an excellent Penny Century commission from a very talented British indie artist, Adam Cadwell...
  18. Love and Rockets #1 That's a good idea. I'd really like to own a first print version, black-and-white cover. The books suggested are too common and too speculated upon.
  19. It's good to see Ditch back. I was concerned.
  20. I paid close attention to limiting my fluid intake before I went to see Watchmen. As a result I was able to enjoy the brilliant Dr Manhattan origin sequence in complete comfort. Odd that you picked that particular sequence as the one likely to trigger it...seeing giant blue wang on the big screen gets your juices going, I'm guessing? Just a very long film and, getting old, becoming neurotic about the staying power of my bladder. Blu-ray for me, now. Better safe than sorry. Can't allow micturition to get in the way of fully appreciating another epic from this great director.
