  1. Thanks, Fay! But...er...I don't have a pedigree copy of Combat #1...perhaps you're thinking of thirdgreenham?
  2. You'll share every kiss..every tear! That's all for now. *Sob!*
  3. Enter the world of danger, drama and death!
  4. Here's some fun, goofy and weird stuff... "Do not shoot, Hugo!" One of my favorite Kubert covers. The Creature Commandos! A gritty, goofy, psychedelic nightmare from the feverish brain of...Robert Kanigher?! Marvel's attempt at weird war...this series is an incomprehensible mess, but it's a fun mess. A bunch of the issues were written by Chris Claremont! And the final issue. I love this cover!
  5. I haven't collected BA war for a couple years, but when I did I was really into it. I managed to pick up OOAW 235-255, OFF 123-181, GIC 138-154, SSWS 151-204, Unknown Soldier 205-268, and a few other odds and ends. Here's some of my key BA wars books... It was thanks to these forums that I learned the importance of this first book. Hail to the King, baby! I actually bought this one from Mile High...and it's not too shabby. My favorite BA war character. The stories in SSWS just keep getting better and better. And here's his real first appearance! "Now--Exploding in His Own Battle Blockbuster Mag!"
  6. Hey, Jeffro - thanks for posting this here. I never did get around to reading those late BA Sgt. Rocks. Maybe some day. I suspect Shep could tell us, but I think he's taking a vacation from the boards for awhile, am I right?
  7. Hey, folks. I bought this copy of OFF106 about six or seven years ago at one of Mike Carbonara's Big Apple shows in NYC. I can't remember the name of the dealer I bought it from, but I do recall that he sold mostly high-end OA, with only two shortboxes of books. He looked a little bit like Gomez Adams (in an awesome way, of course). He told me this was a Boston copy. Is there any way to really tell? The corners are razor sharp and the pages are super white. Let me know what you think!
  8. So, Matthew -- you've been doing these cover recreations for a little over a year now -- what have you learned? Do you appreciate certain artists more? Less? Which one has been the toughest so far?
  9. Are they done in the "Silent-style" of #21?
  10. I'm reading this series for the first time. Just finished #35, the one where the Dreadnoks steal Zartan's new, gadget-filled motorcycle for a joyride. Neat little cameo at the end! Did someone say this series goes off the rails when Serpentor arrives? What issue is that? I remember watching that Serpentor movie with my younger brother back in the day. "Cobra-La la la la la!" Wasn't Don Johnson the voice of one of the characters? Flint, right? I read a few issues back in the 80s (like #21), but I forgot how subversive and funny they actually are. Like when Cobra Commander is telling his followers about how Cobra is going to destory America from inside the System...by writing more sitcoms! I also recently picked up the Bellomo G.I. Joe action figure guide. It might be fun to have some of these. My brother had a boatload of them, and I remember the little rubber band that held them together would always break. The figures seem pretty cheap when they're loose. But, the MOC guys go for some serious bucks!
  11. I have a small group of pre-code horror books. One of my favorite covers... This one I probably should have scanned out of the mylar. Please forgive the wavy line. Great cover on this one, but only so-so stories... Last one. My other favorite cover. Pretty good stories, too. I'd like to pick up some more Farrells.
  12. Well...I read through the thread and unless I missed something, I didn't see anyone say it absolutely wasn't coming out, just that it was still delayed. So, glass half full tonight for me!
  13. Hey, comicwiz -- by any chance do you know if the 2nd edition of the John Kellerman Star Wars book is close to coming out? I've passed up a few 1st editions on eBay, because I want to believe the 2nd will eventually see the light of day. Maybe a Kickstarter campaign would help?
  14. Thanks, Dwight, and congrats on the piece, it's super sweet!
  15. This is so cool! Was Doc used to advertise other things like the Shadow was?
  16. Does anyone have a Warlord 22 they'd like to share?
  17. So, is it really a healthy market if one major bidder is responsible for the majority of the lots won and prices realized?
