  1. Picked up another great magazine from Aaron. A+ all around, folks!
  2. When I say it wasn't graphic, I mean there wasn't blood and brains flying all over the screen. Gotcha. (thumbs u What bugs me a little is that, if Jason and Freddy burst into a cabin of normal-looking teenagers and did to them what the Sentinels do to those X-Men, the movie would've been rated R and not advertised on Nickelodeon during episodes of Spongebob.
  3. The violence was totally graphic. 1) heads crushed on screen with fists and feet 2) dismemberment on screen 3) decaptiation on screen 4) face shoved into a flamethrower 5) multiple impalements If the CG didn't make the mutants look less than human, the violence would be at splatter film levels.
  4. Took the kids to see it this afternoon. I was kind of shocked by the violence. Like, it's not OK to show Wolverine stabbing people with his claws all the time, but somehow it is OK to show mutants getting ripped in half, skulls crushed, faces shoved into flamethrowers, impaled with slithery metal appendages...I mean, geez, didn't they used to just punch each other? The other thing I thought was weird was how they just drop Quicksilver after what I thought was the best scene in the entire movie. "Gee, you're amazingly useful and powerful, see you later, dude!" They could've had a line by Xavier or somebody saying, "No, he's too young, blah blah," but, whatever. Overall pretty entertaining. The kids liked it.
  5. Thanks! How's your Mystery Comics Digest run coming along? Oh, man, I lost focus awhile back and ended up trading them all for some BA DC horror I needed. They were cool little books, I just can't collect everything I'd like to these days. I'm living vicariously through your incredible digest set!
  6. Hey, G.I. Joe experts -- Is the G.I. Joe: Trojan Gambit GN with the Earl Norem cover just a reprint of one of the earlier issues? #3 maybe? Thanks!
  7. Picked up aother great batch of magazines from Aaron. Great books, bullet-proof packing, and fast shipping. He's the bee's knees!
  8. So, I'm working on a mini-run of Ghosts. I'm about up to the mid-teens now, and it seems like all the issues from 13 to 19 that I've encountered have miswraps. Not just left/right, but sometimes top and bottom as well. Has anybody else noticed this?
  9. Has anybody seen that early 80s Japanese Tomb of Dracula movie? Is it any good? I've seen the bootlegs at various cons, but I've never picked one up.
  10. Great books, super fast shipping, and, most importantly of all, bullet-proof packing. Thanks, Barton!
  11. Aaron hooked me up with a great copy of Tales of the Zombie 7. Spot-on grading, gorilla-proof packing job, I couldn't be happier. Thanks, man!
  12. Hey, guys -- I posted this in the WTB section, might as well post here too. I'm looking for a Tales of the Zombie 7, nicely-centered, in the VF to NM- range, with OW or better pages. Raw preferred, but I will consider slabbed. Pix are good. Shoot me a PM if you'd like.
  13. Nice books! Anybody know who the cover artist is on this one? Lieber? Sutton? Severin? Ploog??
  14. Sort of comic related... I stopped by the Topps booth on Friday at the NYCC and won this in a raffle... I'm a big Mars Attacks fan...
  15. Here's the copy from the auction... I'm guessing maybe VG+, VG/FN in a stretch.
  16. Anybody here the lucky winner (or seller) of this Sgt. Rock 329 Whitman? http://www.ebay.com/itm/181204398972?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 What do you guys think of the final price?
  17. Just finished reading the War Report in the latest edition of the OPG. Congrats to our very own Shep for writing the segment on the BA War market! You guys should all check it out! Here's a few books that Shep believed were extremely tough to find in HG -- slabbed 9.4/ raw NM+ and above... (The examples are mine, but not anywhere near those grades...) Star Spangled War 154 G.I Combat 141 G.I. Combat 142 Our Army At War 245 Our Army At War 250 Shep also mentions OAAW 256, which...I don't have. (I decided to stop my OAAW run at 255 because the logo is redesigned on 256. Arbitrary? Yeah...) Shep also mentions the HG copies of the 48/52 pagers as being in demand, as well as the early GIC dollar giants. He also goes on to say that the Sgt. Rock 329 Whitman variant is one of the hardest BA books to find. (Hmm, need one of those, too...) Thanks again for the report, Shep!
  18. This cover is amazing! A few more of those bikes, and I think we could've won that war!
  19. What are you looking for, bronzejonny? It seems like lately war collectors have been going after SA stuff -- the early/key Rock appearances, 1st Haunted tank, grey tones, and the Mme. Marie issues of SSWS. (Although SA war seems slow now, too...) I wonder if dealer's have lowered their prices on HG BA war. I'm not sure they have. You might do better at auction, exept on those outlier single-copy-graded issues. I agree with Jeffro -- in hindsight, I probably would not go for HG BA runs at all -- maybe just the keys and let the rest be mid-grade readers.
