  3. Well since the ability for me to own up to my own mistake was taken from me and I "have" to accept a strike…I think I'll leave this up as a goodwill token. Makes me feel better being able to do something I believe is right without anyone judging me or it. So if anyone wants it, feel free to post a or even PM me a if you feel like you could be cast out from the group. I love you wanting to give but why not come back in one month and use your great offer to make some people happy. This thread will probably be around for awhile so why not abide by the rules and come back in a month and join in any way you feel comfortable with. Because I would like the opportunity to prove that my offer was not about greed or trying to cheat anyone. Almost everyone seemed to be quick at slamming my offer and/or calling my reasoning for going with $40-$50 range BS. So while it is still on everyone's mind, I want to be able to do the right thing. I will not accept any offers or RAKs for a month but I'm okay with someone taking mine if they want. No reason I should have to wait on giving to others….. I don't understand your reasoning. I sent you an idea of combining several of your offerings into one big offer and you said you could not or would not do that. Now you are giving away the batch of books and stuff even though its currently against the rules. I did not combine them in the RAK…I just want to do the right thing. Meeklo if you want to do the right thing, then don't publicly work around the rules that Swick has set. Delete this RAK, do not offer it publicly or privately, it's in direct violation of the rules. Is it a nice offer? Yes, very generous of you. The problem is that rules have been set and Swick even specifically clarified them for you. You're working against the rules, Swick and the thread itself. So if you want to do the right thing... Again, it is a very nice offer. In a months time, it will still be a very nice offer.
  4. Exactly. This the game, play by the rules that Swick sets. Troubled by his rules and his interpretation of his rules for the thread he created? Then don't play. It's deadly simple.
  5. You know more people will be checking on your grading than the actual sale price, right? Great price on a legit 9.8 btw. Y'know I don't really care, right? More traffic = more traffic. Btw, the buyer was ecstatic over this book (and I have way too many HG books ahead of this one in line for CGC) Cool. I'm glad you don't let it get to you. Lots of people, myself included, love ASM 238-239 and consider it essential to any Spider-Man collection. At nearly half 9.8 GPA, the buyer has a reason to be happy.
  6. Flip the search to "Most Recent Prices" and you get a different story: Real Talk Still a high price for a no-name book, but not pulling down those prices anymore. nm copies selling for a lot, mid-grade fetching a very respectable number. time to dig that one up. And fast. I smell another Coldblood situation occurring with this one.

  8. Thanks for the clarification RMA. I hope you don't mind that I added your quote to my original post.
  9. Re: sending multiple invoices. I've done that on numerous occasions. At first, on accident, I would send the buyer an invoice before I knew ebay updated to automatically send an invoice after auction end. Again when I would run hundreds of auctions that would end on the same night. It was much easier to make sure that I invoiced all of my buyers with multiple purchases by invoicing everyone. Results in two invoices. What's your eBay ID?
  10. That is such a fresh and crisp looking, white-paged copy! Best 6.0 I've ever seen. The flaws must be on the back cover? I'd trade my 6.5 for it any day of the week. I predict a top spine split is what hurt the grade so severely. That's my guess.
  11. What's strange is that Darkhawk #1 entered the top ten at the exact time that Wizard cancelled the Sears cover due to decreased popularity. I also tracked Darkhawk's Diamond top 100 performance. During this time period, Darkhawk hovers in the late 20s to mid 30s with big bumps for the Venom issues (13 & 14) and obviously #1. I don't see a decreased popularity in that time span.
  12. Claudio asked me why I like Darkhawk so much. It's not the best stories or artwork of the Copper age. But, I loved this character growing up and issue #1 was for a time my most valuable and prized comic. Re-reading it today, it's a cliched mess of perfectly ridiculous 90s pop culture, art and dialogue. It's nostalgic bliss. Wizard and Darkhawk: Wizard magazine. Another guilty pleasure. From Wizard #5, the Diamond top 10 from the previous year. RMA edit: "Just for clarity's sake, those are the PRE-ORDER rankings from Diamond. They weren't actually on sale until January of 1991". Darkhawk #1 breaks into the Top 10 at #10 in Wizard #8! Moving to Wizard #10, Darkhawk stays at #10. "Darkhawk kind of taken as a joke"? Wizard #11, still hanging onto that #10 spot. Now it's a second-rate joke? A cool advert for Darkhawk #14 from Wizard #7 An early cancelled Wizard cover featuring Darkhawk with art by Wizard's golden boy Bart Sears.
  13. I'm going to talk about a few different things Darkhawk related, share content and answer previous questions in the next couple of posts. My Darkhawk collection: You may have noticed that I have large stacks of the earlier issues. I have been picking up HG copies of #1 for some time, but that doesn't explain why I have over 100 copies #5 and #8. Last year, I was fortunate enough to find a dealer who recently acquired a 90's speculator collection of unread "investment stock". I cleared him out of all of his Darkhawk stock, along with a bunch of other titles including New Warriors, Sleepwalker, Silver Surfer Infinity Gauntlet tie-in issues, Infinity Gauntlet sets, Adam Warlock & the Infinity Watch, Rai, Magnus and ASM issues 361-363. I did not pay much with only a non bulk premium on the Valiant tiles, the ASMs and the Infinity Gauntlet sets. It was an awesome score. The collection was all high grade unread product. The plastic bags that housed the comics were stuck together from a mix of bag degradation and being tightly stored next to each. You could tell that they sat untouched from the date of purchase. Luckily, that didn't adversely affect any of the comics outside of having to lightly peel them off of each other. Condition wise, I couldn't have asked for more with that collection. The average grade is probably 9.6, with many many 9.8+ examples (approximately 40-50%). The condition isn't uniform between the issues. As an example, the average grade of #1 is closer to 9.4 with 15% 9.8 quality while issues #4 and 8 are closer to 80% 9.8. So I didn't set out to have 100+ copies of Darkhawk #8, it just sorta happened.
  14. That edge stress at the top is going to knock it down a bit, no? And probably a dozen spine ticks on the back cover. Cannot tell if there are any on the front cover. It looks like a 8.5 to me, but I trust the person who has it in hand, since scans are a hard thing to grade. It does look nice in hand. My scanner is not favorable to white colors/backgrounds. Three cb spine stresses, the tiny bc corner crease and a decent amount of nbc wear(back cover spine). Working under the assumption that CGC is easy peezy up to 9.2 right now, something I firmly believe and reflect with that grade, I think this book subs in at a 9.2 as is. Pressing will push it further. I'm not arguing grade, just trying to paint a better picture of in hand appearance.
  15. Seems relevant. Here's a recent 8.5 from MCS. My opinion on the grade in spoilers.
  16. That Chog is really awesome. Here's a picture of it for scale purposes.
  17. Thanks. If only you could actually see it.
  18. Thanks for the comments and compliments everyone. I'm going to reply to earlier questions, share more content and ramble on about Darkhawk later today.
  19. My two copies. Sorry for the crummy slab photo.
  20. No. 7 copies passed a Classics Incorporated 9.8 prescreen and were submitted to CGC. 5 copies came back 9.8 and 2 received 9.6 status. You should read this whole thread. It's really great. 7? Out of 1500 copies? Or do I need to read the whole thread...? I think you need to read the whole thread. My "7 copies" reference is completely wrong.
