Copper's Heating/Selling Well on Ebay
Boboset replied to fastballspecial's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
And where does he get his information? comixpedia...... Research? Sure lets bash someone that spends countless hours/days researching information and makes good on sharing his findings over here. BIG -1 Uh, except that he doesn't. All of his posts have a certain proprietariness about them. I don't call "research" assembling the work of others and representing it as your own. Exactly. I guess ethics isn't for everybody. Logic too. -
According to his profile, he's in sales and marketing. I'd say that shows in his approach to his response. A lot less text with none of the unnecessary graphics and text formatting (bells and whistles) would have gone over a whole lot better. The right answer was about 5 words. "Sorry. Missed it. Refund sent."

Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...

Wolverine's first (full) appearance, first story appearance, first cover appearance > cameofirst ever appearance in one panel on last page. -J. I have never said differently. -slym This is my point, Slym. You discredit the importance of what the collector base has already decided about 180/181. Wolverine appeared in the last page of 180, it's a big time cameo, and then he subsequently appears in 181. That's collecting 101. The term cameo carries massive weight. To do away with it is an unnecessary and extreme oversimplification. There's no rules or logic behind determining what constitutes a cameo. It's a cameo when the collector base decides it is. If you want an even more illogical use of the term cameo go look at UXM Annual 14 and UXM 266. It makes no sense but it doesn't have to because the collector base has already decided that UXM Annual 14 is the first (cameo) appearance and UXM 266 is the first (full) appearance. The same thing was decided about 180/181 decades ago. And these things stay decided. Until they get un-decided. These things can and do get changed. Witness the evolution (for different reasons) of the first appearance of Sgt. Rock. Or the coming realization about the first appearance of the Teen Titans (B&B 60). And you think that will happen with Incredible Hulk 180/181? Good point btw. -

The term "first appearance" is taken too literally by many of us. Likewise, "cameo" and "full" carry massive amounts of weight in the mindsets of collectors. It doesn't matter if it's a capricious distinction, it exists and it has for some time. The market determined importance and value while the collector base also determined how first appearance terms are applied. None of that is changing. The battle is already lost. -
4.0 due to the hard sub crease. CGC hates those.

technically 181 is the 2nd app because 180 is a cameo or the first but I go with what is worth more While that is your perogative, let me ask you this, and this is a "yes" or "no" only question - Did Wolverine appear in IH #180, and did #180 come out before #181? my answer is yes Then there's all anyone needs to know. 180 = first appearance (a cameo can be a first appearance, IDK why people are so reluctant to accept that) 181 = second appearance You interject your Hulk 180/181 point in many threads. Why? I have similarly strong beliefs regarding TTA 27/35 but I mostly leave it alone because it's been debated a million times before and frankly it's a pointless battle. So what gives, Slym? I don't just come out of the blue with it. Either someone is talking about the Hulk books themselves, or a 1st cameo/"1st full appearance" that is very similar to IH 180 & 181. So, I don't really interject this point, it comes out naturally. -slym You're right. My apologies, Slym. -
Does anybody know what time the episodes are available in the US? Can't wait!

I wouldn't credit CGC or any other grading company with establishing that as the first appearance. There's like a bazillion threads about it. -

I circled what I consider the most obvious bit of ct. It's the extra deep pink line in the clouds by the spine. Above and below that in the black area by the spine contains a lot of black ct. You'll see wear that breaks color and "mysteriously" disappears into a lighter shade of black ct. The space where the bottom edge of the top staple meets the fc is a convenient place to look. There's other black ct throughout the cover too.
-
I do not think it is appropriate. But I had sent the seller a pm before the sale was completed letting him know I thought the book had CT in the clouds. He replied saying he did not think it was restored and then the book sold. I also noticed the CT and sent a message to the seller. No response. My message was sent post sale.

The Official Darkhawk Appreciation Thread
Boboset replied to Boboset's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
that's upcoming too. I know all the hoarders of Darkhawk Annual 2 Newsstand come here. Those basterds. Whatcha talking about? Who in their right mind hoards Darkhawk? Psychos. That's who. That reminds me, I recently reached and exceeded a personal Darkhawk milestone that requires a group shot. I love group shots. Let's see them! But I'm so lazy. I'll get to it by the end of the week. It might hurt your eyes, you've been warned. Stan Lee sigs? No. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when Stan Lee is given a Darkhawk comic to sign. -
