Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
kimik replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Let them keep buying at inflated prices and invite their friends to join them. I am fine taking money from card collectors in addition to comic collectors. The card guys will get burned in then end, like last time, but we can profit from it, just like last time as well. -

Since there is no guarantee that either character will last past the end of the mini, for his/her sake I hope they dump it fast.......... -

And if you read the New 52 Harley Red Tool arc, you can have both in the same book. -

I am a longtime comic collector, but I will not pass up an opportunity to profit on new books either. -

A lot of spec sites talk this week on the book. Its being pushed. I bulked it as a spec play since it seemed like a no-brainer play as the property is made for Disney+ (and maybe Dr. Strange live action film at some point)? My file LCS owner talked about it as a potential Marvel/Disney take on Harry Potter. I am curious to see what the breakdown on orders for each of the 5 covers was. There have to be some that will be harder to find than others with Comichron reporting an estimate 71,039 copies ordered in March. I expect that some stores ordered equal amounts of all five covers, but others would have ordered like I did and tried to guess which ones would sell best for their shelf copies. As a result, there may be one or two that have print runs in the 10,000 (or lower?) range. -

A collector friend pulled a couple of those for cover from an unknowing store last month. -

Yeah. The current period in the hobby reminds me of the early 90s action before the crash. Back then, chromium or different cover color = -
+1 I am not a fan of them from an artwork perspective, but I am a fan of the $$$ I get for them.

1st appearance of new Venom 2099 that the spec sites are saying will be in the new arc in the main Venom title. I am fine with that. -

Nice to see Venom 2099 still going strong. Might have to start thinning the stack now. -

That was the good old days when DP was hot and you could get $10 - $20 for regular issues from that Marvel Now run. It was crazy back then. -
Nah. All it takes is a little Special K and he is weak as a wet kitten........

It was a thing when it came out if I recall correctly. I sold all of my copies at two shows for $10 and then $15 apiece. -
He kicked Superman's azz as well, and would have killed him, in Snyders BvS.............

I started reading comics/collecting as a kid with X-Men #211, and this has long been one of my favorite X-Men covers. After that Brood arc the title jumped the shark, unfortunately. -
Darkseid even at full power. All it takes is a the super hero who's only power is being rich and a gun to stop him. Batman does not need the rest of the JL other than to stand there and look pretty.........

Awesome! Now they just need to provide updates on the FF, the X-Men, Sub-Mariner and Galactus/Silver Surfer at that time to help drive up auction prices for late July and August.

I have had several copies and all were miscut like yours. It seems like a common production flaw. Yours should be fine. -
Copper's Heating/Selling Well on Ebay
kimik replied to fastballspecial's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
I can appreciate that. I find his later work to be even worse, but that is my opinion and I respect those who appreciate it. And, I am one of the few who does not hold Kirby in high regard. From the GA to through the SA (I will not include his faces melting BA work), I preferred other artists. He had too much of a rectangle/triangle/circle style for my tastes. -

Not me. I have always found BWS' artwork to be overrated. Even his Conan run is hit and miss. -
Fricking Marvel. They need to announce Subby and SS/Galactus coming to theatres near you in July as part of Phase 4 to help my cause.

Garth Ennis's 'The Boys' the next Ennis series for TV!?
kimik replied to Mr 9.8's topic in The Movie Forum
I am not surprised. Being PC trumps sticking to any source now........ -
The last few CBCS 9.6 and 9.8 books I bought for a nice enough discount to look at re-subbing had defects you don't find in CGC books in those grades. There are more opportunities in the low to mid grade range, but even there it is a crapshoot where more often than not the CBCS grade is higher by a half to full grade that what you end up with from CGC. The funny thing is, there was a period in the late 00s where PGX was actually stricter than CGC. I sent in a bunch of PGX books I landed in a collection that were not selling due to the label, and they all came back half to 2 full grades higher from CGC without pressing. I had two 9.2s that looked much better in the PGX slab come back as 9.8 from CGC upon resubmission. I wish I had sent all of them in first instead of selling some of the better books (multiple Conan 1s, SS 1s and 4s, Subby 1s, etc.) on eBay right away.
