  1. Yes. The B&W cover is a 1 for 5 ratio variant provided to retailers based on their orders of the other 3 covers. Spawn is a book that is worth adding to your file. It seems like every few issues there is one that pops.
  2. What did the grader's notes say before and after? Posting them with the serial numbers would help your case. Regardless, both companies are hit and miss in the mid grades. I bought two CBCS slabs earlier this year at a good discount to GPA to crack, press and resub to CGC thinking there would be a grade bump. The Silver Surfer #1 CBCS 6.0 came back CGC 5.0 (CGC was right, it was a fugly 6.0), and the FF #45 CBCS 7.5 came back CGC 6.5. The same thing happens with CGC older label books as well. I bought a collection a couple of years ago with nearly 300 CGC slabs from 2001 - 2006 in it, and a number of the books saw a downgrade after pressing and resubmitting by 0.5 - 1.0. Grading is subjective and changes over time. C'est la vie.
  3. Looks like a bad pressing job (too much humidity) or slabbing job (slab too small or not tight) with all the waviness on the back cover. You will likely need to deal with that at some point.
  4. Likely due to low sales of the other reboot books.
  5. You mean ordering shortages, not publishing. Stores have cut their shelf copies significantly, three I hit last Wednesday only ordered 1 - 2 shelf copies of each Spawn cover since it is a slow seller outside of files (unsold copies go into the back issue bins. As a result, 309B was long gone by the time I went there in the late afternoon/evening. Right now is a good time to be speculating, IMHO, as 1st apps/hot covers will have low orders = low print runs.
  6. Thanos was actually not supposed to be as powerful as he was. It was Roy Thomas who told the creative team to make him powerful like Darkseid. https://comicsalliance.com/knockoff-characters-comics/#:~:text=The connection between the two,%2C the really good one!" "While Starlin cops to the fact that Thanos and the rest of the folks on Titan were inspired by the mythology Kirby was building with his New Gods, he also says that his original idea of Thanos was more along the lines of the knowledge-seeking Metron, right down to cruising through space in a chair. The connection between the two was only made when editor Roy Thomas told Starlin to give Thanos a more powerful build, suggesting "If you're going to steal one of the New Gods, at least rip off Darkseid, the really good one!"
  7. Gunslinger Spawn = $$$. Just as a heads up, next month GS Spawn is on the Mattina Cover A.
  8. That's because the Fox version of Quicksilver was much better.
  9. They did a great job with Brainiac on Krypton. He would have been a cool villain on the big screen. Maybe the big Phase 2 threat after dealing with Darkseid?
  10. They can still go forward with a new plan, but they need to start tying things together now and likely launch it off of Aquaman 2, Flash, Suicide Squad 2 and a new Superman Film. WW 84 is already done so that is too late, but maybe they can weave something in with the Batman movie at the end in a credits/post-credits scene that sets things up for the future?
  11. I am not saying to copy the Marvel style of films, which would be a mistake IMHO, but the DCU needs someone with a vision and a well thought out plan. Right now that is lacking.
  12. I am not ignoring the fact the DC likely did fine with the BvS and Justice League films financially (as I have argued in the past), but the fact is that the DCU has failed at presenting a cohesive and intertwined universe on the big screen. Given time I am certain they will figure it out, but right now that side of the operation is a mess compared to animation and TV.
  13. No. I like Snyder's movies, but he still has a style that does not connect with the broader public across all age groups. Nolan was able to do that with Batman, but could he do it across multiple properties and then coordinate big events while still being a writer and director? Likely not. You need someone like Feige who is not writing or directing, but acting like more of an editor. Geoff Johns was supposed to be that for the WB/DC properties, but has failed to duplicate that. The lack of cohesiveness was also due to the meddling of DC corporate types, I guess, but I don't think DC has a plan in place for their movie properties like Marvel does. They seem to be able to do it on the TV side, so it should be something they can pull together on the big screen as well.
  14. Silvermane does have a point, though. The DCU has been more successful with one-off movies (e.g. Joker, Aquaman, WW) and trilogies (Nolan Batman) than it has with the team-ups (BvS or Justice League). Marvel has done a much better job of weaving characters and storylines together across the solo movies for the big events to date. I think DC will get there as well, but they need to structure the movie division differently in order to accomplish that. Basically, have one person in charge like Feige who ensures there is a focused approach rather than letting the directors do what they want with each different property. The MCU has created a cohesiveness that the DCU is lacking. While I prefer the DCU, Marvel has done a better job at building a broad and interconnected storyline on the silver screen.
  15. Sorry to hear this. My experience has been the opposite - CBCS books being resubbed and usually coming back lower (however, the premium that CGC books get relative to CBCS made it worthwhile). If you sent it in recently after Beckett took over CBCS, then they may finally be tightening up CBCS grading for comics to meet BGS strict standards for sportscards. That would be a good thing for the comic collecting hobby IMHO.
  16. You need to buy my 9.4 signed by McFarlane as an upgrade.
  17. I take it the Rock just mailed his reading of the -script for the promo piece in? That was the worst bit of reading I think I have heard him do. Otherwise, I look forward to the movie.
  18. I posted this in the Batman thread, but was there an announcement regarding Poison Ivy this weekend? A POS CGC 2.5 copy of Batman #181 sold for $750 tonight on Heritage.
  19. Was there a Poison Ivy announcement at Fandome this weekend? This copy of Batman #181 CGC 2.5 hit $750 on Heritage tonight: https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/batman-181-dc-1966-cgc-gd-25-off-white-to-white-pages/a/122034-17067.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515
  20. I wonder how much further Static 1 can rise after the DC Fandome announcement today.
