  1. No, I would take the CGC 8.0 IH 181 or CGC 9.4 ASM 129 over three NM 98 CGC 9.8s since I believe they will appreciate faster based on past performance, but NM 98s will slowly climb over time as well. It was only 10 years ago when we were debating how common IH 181 and ASM 129 were and that despite demand the prices were likely tapped out due to the huge supply of both books.
  2. Looking at this picture of Woody again, he definitely has some Cletus Kasady (or hillbilly from Deliverance ) in him.
  3. This is a nice deal for Disney/Marvel from an IP perspective. It should work out great for comic fans as well as we will get to see some of the larger crossover events between the X-universe and Avengers-universe brought to life. I wonder if they can work the X-Men into the Avengers 4 finale vs. Thanos? As long as they keep Deadpool R-rated and do a great job with the rest of the X-universe I will be happy! As far as the FF, who cares. From a shareholder perspective, that is a lot of dilution, unfortunately....................
  4. Good luck to you and Dave cherry picking the collection. That is the best way to handle it as a buyer IMHO.
  5. Nice. FWIW, how many copies of Batman #181 do you have? I consider it the twin to Tec #359, and it is another great book to have multiple copies of.
  6. Woody Harrelson as Carnage would be awesome!
  7. According to GPA it is holding fairly stable overall in 9.8 (last sale $300, 90 day avg. $305, 12 month avg. $307) with prices on 9.6 and 9.4 copies continuing to rise year over year. The outlier high prices were just a one week movie fueled blip. Otherwise, it is following the same trend we have seen with every other Copper/Modern key.
  8. His point is that there is no need to buy big on shelf copies since you have a steady stream of file collectors that will turnover their books within a year or two for store credit. For most modern titles, the back issues just sit in the bins since collectors will grab the TPB collecting the story arc instead (or Marvel/DC kills demand with yet another relaunch ). Why pay 40-50% of cover for 20 extra copies that you will not sell of a book and have to store? Instead, buy a couple of extra copies and wait for file customers to bring them back at 10-20% of cover in their annual turnover.
  9. Wow. I wonder if this sale is for real. According to GPA an offer of $5600 was accepted: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Batman-73-CGC-6-5-OW-Classic-Joker-Cover-Golden-Age-DC-Comics/172751689664?epid=85438032&hash=item2838cd97c0:g:A6MAAOSwOMdZUvBy
  10. Comics are following the pattern that other collectible hobbies already have. The keys/1st apps/classic covers will continue to appreciate in value, while the common issues will diminish in value. FWIW, I talked with one LCS owner on the weekend who commented on what a waste it is for stores to order big on shelf copies since you will inevitably get customers bringing them in 6 - 12 months later for store credit.
  11. Yeah, if you are getting crazy money for Infinty War sets blow them out ASAP. Gauntlet sets sell well, but the Infinity War and Infinity Watch drek has sat in dollar bins for the past couple of decades until recently. I felt guilty when IW #1s started selling at $10 last year. Now I just shake my head when they get snapped up at $20.
  12. I guess this is what happens when a LCS owner/employee does not keep up with modern artists: Dell Otto Variant incorrectly listed as AMAZING SPIDER-MAN VENOM INC ALPHA #1 GRANOV VARIANT A MARVEL LEGACY PT 1! FLASH
  13. I can't remember if I posted this yet, but here is my current/latest copy:
  14. Nah, let the chicken littles run for a bit. The only area I am seeing decent pricing on for my own books is Copper Age related to movies and TV shows right now. The reason why - you can buy a 9.8 for most of them in the $300 - $500 range.
  15. You're welcome and congrats on the solid undercopy. You can never have too many copies of this book.
  16. How many sets are you willing to part with at $60 USD apiece? Drop me a PM as I am interested.
  17. There is a seasonality to prices. Mid November through mid December have been a good time to buy for years now. Closer to Christmas and the first two weeks of January are good times to sell due to Christmas bonuses and cash gifts. That being said, pricier SA keys may be plateauing for a bit after the big run ups the past couple of years. That is going to happen sooner or later.
  18. We have been selling #2-6 for $25 CDN apiece the past two years at shows, and #1 is a solid $40 in NM-. Sets have been going for $120 - $150 during the same timeframe.
  19. Common drek (just kidding). There are a couple of the LCSs that have multiples in the back.....just like Thor 370 (I have passed on a few recently as they were lowly FN to VF). I know that one LCS has them sitting in storage from the leftovers of a collection I sold to them. They may be 9.8 candidates. Nice that you have some though. These are some of the tougher ones to find.
  20. Here are are three recent returns from CGC. The NTT #26 was a disappointing lowly 9.6, and my ASM #252 was mislabelled (and will be returned), but the Flash and Tec are the right grade at least.
  21. The Batman SA villain and Batgirl 1st apps were definitely undervalued for a long time and they have played catch up the past 3 years. The movie hype helped a bit over the past year, but Tec #359 started doubling (or more) in price before that. I view it as being driven more by the DC keys catching up to Marvel keys effect. FWIW, check out the prices on SA Joker covered Bats and Tecs now as well. They have spiked without movie hype over the past couple of years (e.g. Batman #163 CGC 9.4 = $1000?). As far as prices for November and now start of December auctions, this is usually the worst time of the year to be selling but a great time to be buying. I personally look to do more purchases for both my collection and buy to flip multiples now.
  22. That's right, Visionaries, Kinghts of the Mystic Light (or something like that) I forgot about Jayce, but remember it as well. I used to love Rambo: The Force of Freedom and Chuck Norris: Karate Commandos (or something like that) as well. The 80s were an awesome time for creativity across cartoons/television, comics and music.
  23. I wonder if they could pull off a live action feature film? When my kids were younger I would watch Thundercats, Transformers and GI Joe with them on Teletoon Retro. They loved them all (but their favorite was Batman TAS - that series is an all-time classic!).
