  1. Looking at the color, I would guess a larger military vessel rather than drilling rig, but the set does look the same.
  2. Wow, that looks underwhelming. I think the person that posted the comment about it looking like a bad short-lived low budget 90s sci-fi series nailed it.
  3. A post by Artboy99 in the Calgary Expo Recap that some of you may appreciate: This girl came to our booth looking to buy Campbell art covers. She apparently has worked directly with Campbell many times and showed me his twitter pics to prove it. I collect Campbell covers as well, and she settled on a great one:
  4. Is that for real or just negotiation posturing? Pratt as Starlord makes the franchise similar to RDJ as Tony Stark/Iron Man. I can understand that Marvel Studios/Disney does not want to be caught in a similar position with Pratt re: amount paid to a leading actor, but the current team is much better suited for the big screen than the original one. Regardless, I am looking forward to seeing the film this weekend with the kids.
  5. Happens all the time during Stampede week!
  6. Sales of keys was much stronger this year than is the last two shows which was nice to see. My sales included: Slabs ASM 129 CGC 8.5 ASM 300 CGC 9.4 Batman 232 CGC 8.0 HOS 92 CGC 6.5 Spectacular Spider-Man 64 CGC 9.6 Uncanny X-Men 266 CGC 9.6 Infinity Gauntlet 1 CGC 9.8 plus a few others I can't recall right now. Raw books 20 copies of Spawn #1 at $25 apiece a number of McSpidey 1s at $10 apiece a number of McFarlane ASM 298s, 315s and 317s Wolverine LS 1-4 set and a couple of 1s SA GLs (4,5,6,8) all of the Venom Lethal Protector 1s I had at $10 apiece all of the blank cover variants I had a small stack of Valiant keys (Harbinger 1, EW 4, Bloodshot 0s, etc) plus many more. Dollar boxes I also moved 6 and a bit longs of drek at $1 apiece and then I blew out the remaining five and a half to another dealer at the end of the show. This was my wife's favourite sale of the show as it cleared out twelve longs of books from the basement.
  7. Stop typing and start posting pictures, piper.
  8. You also thought Ant-Man was great.....my kids did not even finish it.
  9. Had a great time at the Boardies and friends dinner tonight. The past two nights we had just gone to the Cowboys casino restaurant but tonight a few of us hit the Keg downtown. Cheers from Calgary!
  10. Some people had a seven hour wait for McFarlane. I heard he was great with the fans - chatted with them and took a bit of time with them while signing. There were huge lineups due to free signatures. Friday crowd was much better this year than the last two years. The convention was fairly full from the start at 1:00 pm this year instead of just after work like last year. Neither of the first two days were sold out, but today is so it will hopefully be a busy one.
  11. Thursday was much busier this year than last year, which is a good sign for the weekend hopefully. The one noticeable difference between the past two years - collectors are buying bigger books again. Sorry, Alan, the plan was Keg downtown initially but we ended up hitting Cowboys casino restaurant at the Stampede grounds in the end.
  12. This is why GotG and SS did better than expected at the box office for the big two. Both were different from the standard superhero fare fans were used to.
  13. Infinity War, yes, the other two will be . The first Ant-Man film was weak, and Black Panther can go either way. Infinity War should be huge, though.
  14. Makes sense to me. SS and DP were better movies than Civil War.
  15. What do you need to do to be a facilitator? Maybe CGC can ask Greggy to do that for the show?
  16. I am not as worried re: print runs. He was hit and miss with posting them in the past for some of the other exclusives. It would also make sense to combine shipping on Gold and Blue if buyers are getting both. I wonder if he will provide us with a refund then? The more I look at it, the more I like the Jean Grey #1 set, especially the Dark Phoenix cover. I like the progression of the character.
  17. Where do we want to go on Wednesday night to watch the Oilers in game 1 of round 2?
  18. Thanks. This is the same store I snagged a run of #1-16 at for $20 last summer. For whatever reason, they get a steady supply of Hughes books in on a month to month basis.
  19. It has a spine tick so 9.2, unfortunately. The #16 is nicer.
  20. We have the right two Canadian teams in Round 2! Looks like I should have put some money down on this.
  21. Nice haul! I love the Witchblade covers. Here is some common AH drek that a LCS put aside for me this week. Might as well add some more copies to the stash.
