  1. I will gladly pay you $16000 for any pristine CGC 9.4+ TOS 39s you have laying around. ? Other than that, it was a decent article.
  2. Wow. The article made Financialpost this weekend: http://www.financialpost.com/m/wp/news/blog.html?b=business.financialpost.com/investing/cashing-in-on-capes-and-cowls&pubdate=2017-04-16
  3. Shhh.......? not everyone has caught onto that book yet. There are a couple of others that there is still a bit of time to accumulate as well.
  4. I do not mean that they catch up to SA Marvel keys in prices as the demand for DC is not the same, but that they eventually run up after the Marvel books have their jump.
  5. I am going to have a new batch of CDN newsstand variants for the show. Stuff that was buried in some long boxes as well as from a new collection I snagged late last year. This year I am also starting to pull out SA/BA/CA keys/1st apps that have been sitting in backstock for a couple of years (or more in most cases). We reorganized the office this Christmas break so now I have no excuses for my wife to not sort stuff to sell off.
  6. Agreed to a certain extent, but this book was gapping up the past two year and well before the movie announcement. I have played it twice the past four years, with prices basically doubling on the half dozen or so copies I accumulated each time. My only mistake was selling too many last year before the latest run up. ? A lot of SA DC keys/1st apps are just starting to play catch up with their Marvel counterparts. We have seen the same trend play out in the past. Marvel SA books run up, DC SA books lag and then play catch up.
  7. I am not as concerned re: Thor Ragnarok. I expect it to do similar numbers to Thor: The Dark World which is great for a second tier Marvel Movie Franchise, and in-line with most super-hero flicks. The WW flick is sort of the reboot for the DCEU and will be the key for this movie IMHO. If WW does $500M+ then JLA will do better than BvS. If WW can hit SS numbers, then JLA could go even higher.
  8. Hopefully not. In this one they appear to be trying to hard to come across like GotG in a manner that is so obvious that it fails a bit.
  9. I found the trailer to be hit and miss . It seemed like they are trying too hard to pitch it as another light-hearted and funny GotG type flick. Hopefully there is more to it than just this. That being said, the Hulk battle should be fun to watch regardless.
  10. She played the escort/prostitute part much better in So This is 40, but that movie sucked as well.
  11. My thought as well. The set is dirt cheap so maybe another dealer will snag them before the show opens. It will be interesting to see how sales go at this show. Based on the Calgary shows last fall and the Red & White this spring, cheaper keys and $1 bins will probably be the best bets.
  12. Based on what I have seen from going through a few piles of store backstock, it will be tough to find them by the long box now. Multiple copies in a collection? Definitely. The last long box of ASM 300s that I saw was in 2001 when the owner of a failed LCS blew out the stock in his last storage locker. Unfortunately, they were not bagged/boarded so they all had minor dings. This book was big back in the day due to 1st Venom appearance and the iconic cover, so the demand was there to drive stores to sell their backstock for a premium from the get go (one of the LCSs dug out a case of NM #98s a couple of years ago, but no ASM #300s since they sold out early). We also did not see the major speculation on McFarlane Spidey until the McSpidey #1s. I was just 14 at the time, but I can remember watching speculators haul out long boxes of each cover at my file LCS since they were going to put their kids through college with them. Based on that, I only bought one copy of each cover for my Spidey collection as even I could see that it would not end well for them as a youth.......
  13. So, with Richard Comely also being at the show, would it be better to sell my Captain Canuck run (#0-14, plus some specials) as the set it is currently packaged in just to finally get rid of it, or break it out and try to sell for a higher price as single issues?
  14. I was referring to you, Karl and Dave with that comment.............
  15. Wow. Stan Lee added now? That should help to drive sales on dead SA Marvels like Fantastic Four.......... This is shaping up to be a fun convention. Between TMc and Stan Lee, there should be healthier sales than last year for dealers with accurately graded and reasonably priced books...........
  16. She would be an interesting choice. I think the Ivy, Catwoman and Batgirl roles will be highly sought after as they will lead to appearances across multiple films/franchises. If you are an actor/actress the Marvel and DC comic movies are a great opportunity to land a role that will generate the large paydays to sustain your lifestyle while also allowing you to do other films that appeal to your artistic side.
  17. We are all going to have to dig out all of the McSpidey related stuff that we have now. The downside is it will take a lot of time sifting through all of the dollar box stock, but on the flip side it will mean you can get $5+ for books instead of having them sit for years. I am debating how high to go with McSpidey #1s and Spawn #1s. I will likely raise prices as the show goes. Raw Spawn #1s already move well at $25 - $30 for accurately graded NM. I wonder if $50 would be out of reach with McFarlane signing here?
  18. And Craig Button definitely paid for that contract in the end as well. That signing was just as bad as some of the recent MacT deals in Edmonton. Ference, Fayne, Pouliot...... the list goes on.
  19. That does not make it any better.......
  20. ............if Andy is actually in his booth. If not, swing around the corner and say hi to us.
  21. Someone actually paid for a Roman Turek?
  22. Excellent! The more TV/movie announcements of 2nd and 3rd tier comic properties that can still be bought for cheap and flipped for high prices the better.
  23. Sounds like a plan. You and Andy can take some, and save Karl for the best ones.
