  1. I wonder if GotG 2 can topple The Avengers as the #1 comic book movie? It should have a shot at it since this film will attract young kids and adults alike.
  2. I found a couple of copies in $1 bins last year, including one that came back at 9.8.
  3. One new item for the night: Secret Wars Old Man Logan #1-5 Unread NM (or better) Set - $25
  4. I was too busy to list my NM 25s & 26s leading up to the show and was worried that I missed the window. In this case it might work out for the better.
  5. Thanks. I also found a copy of Harley and Her Gang of Harleys #6 1:25 Cho variant yesterday if you need it. PM me.
  6. That looks like a MH grade sticker on the bag. If that is the case, there are better odds of it being VF than NM/M.
  7. Now that the new boards are back up and running I can start to post new books.
  8. I still have a set of #1-6 and think it is a great read., but am glad that I sold almost everything at the peak for the series. I moved most of my #1s at a show to two other dealers (15 copies apiece) at $35 apiece just before the bubble burst. Talk about lucky timing......... Take away WD, and Image is nowhere close to the 3rd largest publisher. As it is, their market share has been slipping since the 2013/14 spec bubble after the successful launches they had in 2012. Their market share has been consistently dropping the past couple of years, and a lot of it has to do with the weakness of their new books. Saga is the only top 50 book in their portfolio, which is surprising considering how weak a lot of the Marvel and DC stuff is right now.
  9. That is it for now. I may be back with some other stuff tonight. Is anyone interested in Adam Hughes Catwoman, Wonder Woman or Zatanna? Some JSC ASM issues? Drop me a PM.

  13. Gamora #1 Cover A NM - $20 J Scott Campbell Exclusive variant
  14. Venom (vol 3) #1 Dell Otto Color NM polybagged - $20 3 copies available
  15. Here are a few books before the pre-SB party preparation kicks into high gear. Walking Dead #163 1:200 Color Variant NM - $40 SOLD
  16. I saw increased interest in the Warlock run this past year and believe I am out of all of my slabbed and raw copies in high grade. I snagged a few HG auction lots two years ago thinking they should spike with the Infinity War movies, but this past year I was totally cleaned out at full OSPG + for raw books. The few slabs I had were 9.4s and 9.6s, and they sold fast at full GPA. I might have moved them too soon, but I will take a 5X+ return on raw common books any day.
  17. I posted the Web of Spider-Man #1 on the other page. I will have to double check, but I think I am running low on slabbed CDN newsstand variants I am willing to part with.
  18. He doesn't need BvS for that. He's gotten virtually every major studio to bankroll one of his films at some point. Warner Brothers is lucky to have him, not the opposite. Although they might be re-thinking that after they bankrolled "Live By Night" and it just bombed at the box office. The whole Ben out as Director was likely wanted by both sides based on one simple thing - his track record in that role. According to IMDB, he has been Director of 7 productions: 2018 Witness for the Prosecution (announced) 2016 Live by Night (directed by) - a whopping $19M worldwide so far 2012 Argo - a whopping $232M worldwide but critically acclaimed 2010 The Town - a whopping $154M wordlwide 2008 Gimme Shelter (Video short) 2007 Gone Baby Gone - a whopping $34M worldwide 1993 I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meathook, and Now I Have a Three Picture Deal at Disney (Short) The fact is, his track record as a Director (and even a Producer) is spotty when it comes to box office successes. His best successes were basically with Horror franchise film budgets for Horror franchise films returns. While I think he is a great actor, if I were bankrolling a film I would think twice about him as a Director. ridiculous argument in the extreme. Argo, The Town and Gone Baby Gone blow away anything non-Nolan that WB has vomited from the DCU onto the screen. Prior to GOTG, James Gunn directed: Super 328,0000 (that's $328 thousand dollars) WW BO Slither 12.8MM WW BO The Town and Gone Baby Gone are okay, but not movies that I would not go out of my way to watch again. They are adequate, but that's it. Argo was good movie, but way more meaningful for American citizens of a certain age than anyone else. It was a solid movie, but I have seen better historical flicks. I watched it towards the end of the cinematic run and likely went in with my expectations set too high due to the hype. James Gunn and GOTG were a risky venture going in, as we have discussed at length in the GOTG thread before, that worked out great for Marvel. The cast he pulled together was outstanding, and they had a great -script/story. They lucked out to a certain extent by catching lighting in a bottle with that one, but I am glad that Marvel Studios took the chance on the group as it is my favorite Marvel movie to date. I am looking forward to GOTG 2 this summer.

His best successes were basically with Horror franchise film budgets for Horror franchise films returns. While I think he is a great actor, if I were bankrolling a film I would think twice about him as a Director. I would think his brief track record is pretty impressive when you consider 3 out of his 4 full length films have been well received by critics and financially prudent. But if you are the type that just wants box office receipts than Michael Bay is always available. I honestly believe Ben thought he could do something with Batman that was both financially successful and critically acclaimed. As it be, he may have already seen the writing on the wall when it comes to the acclaim... To be honest, I was not overly impressed with Argo relative to the hype it received before I saw it. It was a solid movie, but not significantly better than other historical pieces that I have enjoyed. When I looked at the BO results this morning for my post I was actually surprised it was that low - I thought it would have done way better at the BO based on the critical acclaim and hype it received. Live By Night was his attempt at a more stylish thriller and it is performing miserably. I have not seen the film so I can't judge it, but I was expecting it to do way better based on the genre. I guess it must be that bad. Being financially prudent is great, but I would argue that it is much easier to pull off a minimally CGId film focusing on human interaction than a huge summer blockbuster with multiple characters and layers as well as special effects/CGI. That is why Directors like James Cameron and Peter Jackson are interesting to me - they manage complex projects so well.
