  1. Give the movie a bit of time yet - there is still a lot more to come besides he bit we saw in the trailer. In any case, if the Jonah Hex movie could lift prices on All-Star Western #10 for a bit, then even a dog of a GL movie will do the same for SC #22.
  2. I don't think anyone else can afford what we are smoking..................
  3. Last 1.0 Plod GPA is $320 in March.. so considering all things..the $500 is slightly high, but not crazy. And with 1.8 and up at $600+ in Universal and climbing, and last 1.5 at $430,there isnt much room for a 22 under $500...Plod or Universal.....just saying. Prices are a bit silly right now, but it is the more affordable way to own a piece of the pie. I don't know, as an owner of a lower grade copy I think the prices are too low right now and need to run up even further. Well, if an AF15 1.0 can sell for $1600+, why not a SC22 1.0 for $800+. Time will tell. The two big boys of SA. AF 1.0 at $1600+ is way overpriced for such a common book. All kidding aside, there sure seems to be a lot more of them around than SC #22's the difference is there is a lot more demand for AF15, hence the higher price, relative to supply and demand (Thumbs u That and the fact that lower grade copies are the only way most collectors can afford to own the book now. I often wonder how much longer people will be willing to spend $10K for a low grade to lower mid grade copy of a relatively common SA key?

  6. If the seller gets close to his asking price then the next phase of the SC #22 run up is officially on!
  7. I believe it was posted here recently - just a few pages back. I hope the seller gets his asking price.
  8. They are all common. You should sell them now before it is too late.
  9. What's gonna happen to the 7.5 you had bought? He is going to sell it for dirt cheap to the first boardie to contact him about it since he does not need it any longer. Suuuuuuuuure he is He might as well. The book will drop big time now that the 8.5 has traded hands just like every other SA or BA book - they are all common in mid grade.
  10. I have always kept at least a few DCs in the collection even after paring down, but SA and BA Marvels have always been flipping fodder.

  12. True enough. Probably the worst was the dozen or so GL #76s in 8.0 - 9.0 I put together between 1999 - 2002/3 then sold off before prices really jumped. I can remember being stoked about getting an insane $400 for an 8.5 with white pages way back when. On the flip side, I timed the sale of my handful of HG earlier SA Flash issues well.
  13. for being too soon. I did the same with the early copies of SC #22 I gathered as well.
  14. Yeah...hindsight will be 20/20. Five years from now we will be kicking ourselves that we didn't buy more. Agreed. DC SA keys are poised for a nice run up right now.
  15. I am not certain about that................my problem is that I sold out too soon!
  16. Just took a quick look on eBay and a couple of larger dealer sites and it appears that the larger supply of SC #22s (outside of Clink) that was there a month or two ago has quietly dried up again. I wonder if we will see a nice run up in prices early in the new year if supply remains tight?
  17. Blasphemy! We need to stop wasting time on threads for lesser DC SA books like B&B #28.
  18. Should a 9.0 JLA #1 go for more than a 8.0 B&B 28? Good point, but how many people outside of the boards know that the B&B #28 was pressed? Let's face it, there are a lot of people out there that buy the label, not the book. I'm doing my darndest to get the word out. Mind you, if there is only a limited pool of HG DC buyers and you know most of them, it might have an impact on the price.

  20. I doubt this will last, but the CGC 9.0 JLA #1 is currently sitting at a higher price than the CGC 9.0 B&B #28.
  21. Congrats. Nice to see the OW pages as well. (thumbs u
  22. It's a combination of things but mostly it's probably the fact that if a Showcase #22 will sell for those prices then a collector might think why not B+B #28? Right now the market is valuing a SC22 1 1/2 time a BB28 in most grades. The question is is...will BB28 catch up. to SC22. In time, SC22 will be the most valuable DC SA, next BB28, and then SC4. There's supposedly going to be a Flash movie. If so, it could renew interest in Flash & SC #4. The Flash needs more love...maybe a hangover in the 90's. A movie should ignite it. SC #4 is already a pricey book, so the gains might not be as easily obtained. Remember, those $2500+ 5.0 copies of SC #22 could be had for $800 - $1000 in 2008. SC #22 looks to have plateaued a bit now and it will be interesting to see how far it can run up closer to the movie. My guess is that the biggest gain(s) has already been captured, but time will tell. GL #1 might be a better play now (full disclosure - I am hedging with both ). WRT B&B #28, it was only a matter of time before the big DC SA keys started to attract attention due to the run up in Marvel SA key prices. Add in the fact that WB appears to finally get that it has comic properties that can be turned into successful movie franchises IF they are handled properly (which is not a given with WB's history), and these DC books should start to close the gap sooner than later. Besides, why waste money on a crummy 6.0/6.5 copy of a knock-off book like FF #1, whose franchise has been waning in popularity since 1969 or 1970, when you can probably land a much harder to find in grade beautiful 8.0 copy of the real deal, B&B #28, for the same price and plenty of room to run up in value?
  23. Well that's what happens when everyone & their mother wants a piece of the pie. And there's not enough pie... Don't go against a freight train...join the wild ride and you shall have some pie. I like pie. What kinda pie? Cherry or peach are my 2 faves........................ with blueberry a close 3rd. Apple pie is okay as well, but a bit overrated IMHO.
  24. Uh, no. I've never liked the covers for either B&B 28 or GL 1. It pained me to look at my copies. Based on the grades they were in, I would have suffered through it............ (thumbs u
  25. Uh, no. The Giant Puppet is just a smidge worse than the Giant Starfish, but as Tim says, both are weak.
