  1. While we're talking about character placement....Shazam/ Captain Marvel has been all over the place lately and they're really trying to push him. I'd definitely love to see him on the big screen. If a Justice League Dark movie was ever made, Shazam could be the mediator between the JL, the JLD and pretty much anything that has anything to do with magic.
  2. They are American! they are just naturalized Americans. The only real American is probably batman that was born in the USA. Even though Gotham doesn't exist... You can have the Martian, but don't mess with the Greeks, Mr.
  3. Oh and as for the polyethnic background of the Justice League, they pretty much aren't all American in the first place. Wonder Woman and Aquaman are not American and have a Greek background (in animations both, citizens of Atlantis and of Themyscira speak Greek to each other). Besides their Greek background they both belong to independent non-American nations. If they emphasize this a bit it would already show the polyethnic background. The Martian Manhunter may mainly reside in the US these days, but he was born, grew up and already lived most of his life on Mars.
  4. This is possibly the best time to still buy early Justice League, Flash, GL, Aquaman, Atom appearances in as high grades as possible. The books (especially everything but BB 28, SC 4 and JLA 1) are dirt cheap, rare and in my opinion feature very cool covers. Showcase #30 (1st SA Aquaman) sells for less than $2k in 9.2 with only 5 in grade and 2 at 9.4. It is also from Jan. 1961, which means high grades and supply are cut relatively short. Showcase #34 (1st SA Atom) last 2 9.0 copies both sold for less than $2,4k last year with only 5 in 9.0 and 4 graded higher (1x 9.2, 3x 9.4)
  5. I'm sure prices will rise again upon first trailer. No need to panic. BB#28 is still a solid investment.
  6. I don't care! I'll still gladly pay 10 times that amount for that 8.0 copy that was recently mentioned here. for $10 ( the generosity)
  7. "Reports over the weekend hinted that Christopher Nolan, director of the hugely successful Dark Knight trilogy of Batman films starring Christian Bale, might have stepped aside as executive producer of Man of Steel 2. Nolan's involvement in the series reboot by Zack Snyder was flagged by Warner as evidence of its enduring quality, but several sites pointed out that the British film-maker's name – along with that of his producer wife, Emma Thomas – was missing from the studio's press release announcing Affleck's appointment." !!!!!!!!
  8. I really think this is a little extreme - sure, some comic enthusiasts will be disappointed (part of me thinks this would happen regardless of choice for Batman), but if the movie does $1B at the box office, you think the residual affect on associated collectibles will be negative? I really don't like posting in this thread (because I have personal biases about the book and own several copies), but I really think this choice will HELP the franchise, not hurt it. Ben's star right now is sky high with Argo. But hey, this is the speculation thread, where anything can happen! what happens in the "BB28: speculation on future pricing" thread, stays in the "BB28: speculation on future pricing" thread Don't get me wrong. If the movie does well...heck, even if they get the trailer right BB #28 will shoot up in price like crazy. Until they come up with something good though my enthusiasm will be quite reserved. As I already mentioned to a friend on the boards, I don't argue that Ben Affleck is a great actor. I really liked "The Town" and he was good in "Argo". I share the opinion of a tweet I read that says: " I don't want to hate an actor that I like for ruining Batman". I do believe however that not everyone is cut out for every role. While Downey seems to be the best cast for Iron Man, he would probably make a horrible Batman. We'll just have to wait and see what comes out of this. I definitely hope to be proven dead wrong as I don't see a future for other DC superhero movies if this flops (and I really want to see WW, Flash and an excellent GL on the big screen)
  9. I am roaring all right, but I doubt Affleck will care. Of course the price for BB #28 won't drop that fast and easy but there will definitely be hesitation now and prices will rise with reluctance if at all. 8.0+ copies will still go for high prices but most likely not to the extend of the former potential if they had not casted Affleck for the role of Batman. Personally I am willing to risk a lot less buying a high grade copy of BB #28 now than I did before. This feeling will probably remain until they come up with the first teaser/ trailer. If that goes well, I am sure prices will boom forward. If the trailer goes GL/ DD style...
  10. Aaaaaaannnddddd......demand and value of BB #28 is practically gone. I am so frustrated about this move.
  11. I really like this cover. Wonder Woman is one of my favorite characters in comics and I have to admit that I can't support the way they disempowered her during this period of the late 40's/ mid 50's. However, if they have to turn her girly then at least with a cool cover. The art is really nice, the ensemble fits beautifully and the colors pop.
  12. Hell, NO! I don't want Reynolds anywhere near the new DC Universe based on the MOS movie. He was horrible as Hal Jordan, he was bad a Deadpool. I would hate to see him reprise the role of GL, let alone mess up the Flash as well. I would prefer to see a GL reboot MOS style. WB should stop beating that dead horse.
  13. That sure is purdy. I'm sure there's more than a few folks here willing to give it a new home I have it listed on a Dealer's site, but would prefer to sell it to a boardie
  14. I am sure prices will go up and up on this book over the newt two years. 1. We already know WB is planing this big. 2. Man of Steel was huge and kicked the prices out of the water 3. We should have a Batman - Superman trailer by next year, which will definitely shoot up prices 4. By the time Batman - Superman launches, we might have a Justice League trailer as well. Guess what that will do to prices. I am sure that most books will be long gone and hidden in private collections by then. DC's have been overlooked for a very, very long time and as the film industry get's the franchise going, collectors are starting to realize the potential all of the low $ DC books have.
  15. I might know someone with a beautiful copy who's willing to part with it
  16. This poll actually got me thinking about the characters. I have to admit that my favorite comic character is Gaiman's Sandman these days and has been for a couple years, so intended on choosing the "other" option. Looking at the list however, made me think which character I would miss most if the entire world started ignoring it in an instant. Not very surprising, this thought lead me to the one and only....Batman! Superman was the first superhero ever, I love the latest Superman movie and would certainly miss what might still be created after this recent movie, but wouldn't miss Superman even half as much as I would miss Batman. Same goes for Spidey, FF, X-Men etc etc. but I wouldn't miss any of them as much as I would miss Batman and probably the characters that go with him.
