  1. That truly was an extraordinary beautiful copy with excellent pq. We both left our bids at the same second and I shouted out loud when there was no time to bid again I wonder if the winning bidder was the same person that paid 9K for the Whiz #9 CGC 8.5 a few months ago. In early 2010 I was told that someone with deep pockets is putting together a run of early Whiz Comics. Not sure if this is still accurate though. As for the #9, whoever bought it might have been after the pedigree or the specific cover, but the deep pockets argument would fit perfectly. I doubt the book would have sold for even half as much if it weren't an Allentown. As for the buyer of the #5 I find it interesting that he only has a feedback of only 24.

  3. I think they've revived the phrase on the TV show "The Big Bang Theory". They have a red "Shazam" t-shirt with the big yellow lightning bolt on it. BAZINGA! That's a combination of two genius elements. I'd love to see Sheldon wear a Cap Marvel costume
  4. What a beauty Initially I was hesitating go after the book because of the tape and when I finally made up my mind to buy it, I had to read on the boards that it was stolen. It looks however as if a lot of us were interested in it back then.
  5. That is an amazing copy. Only one that I've seen that was nicer was the Mile High copy. Here is a picture of John Snyder holding it in his office back in 1995. I took the picture in the pre-digital camera era, and a scanner wasn't an option, so sorry for the poor photo. You'll just have to trust me when I tell you the book looked and felt brand spanking new Thanks for posting what is probably the only pic we'll see of this copy any time soon. I'd REALLY love to see it.
  6. The (to date) highest graded unrestored Whiz Comics #1 will be up for sale in the next ComicConnect auction in November/ December. The unreal 9.0 ( ) with off-white to white pages was just graded on Oct., 23rd Not sure if this copy has been around in a different grade, but it looks great! Link George.
  7. There are kits you can buy down at the drug store, to confirm either way. Good luck! confirmed! Congrats! I had this copy for almost three years. It is a great looking book! Glad it went to you
  8. Very nice looking copies Looking at your #13 reminds me that I've always appreciated this cover a lot...maybe it's time to finally get a copy
  9. I enjoy how relaxed and easy this cover looks. I really appreciate it when traditional, cultural and/ or historic moments are being depicted in comic books. Especially if they're drawn in a non-offensive way. George.
  10. Very pretty books! Love the cover colors and page quality. Very pretty indeed Even the blacked out eyes of the villain have an interesting appeal
  11. Couldn't have gone to a better home. Beautiful book
  12. Hasn't been submitted yet. I see SC #4 in your signature, Did you get it graded yet?
  13. Welcome to this somewhat scarce club. Very nice And welcome (thumbs u
  14. In Europe they'd say that his crime was caused by the fact that (i) society wronged him or (ii) he had a bad childhood ... Who knows: perhaps Uthe has a heart of gold (thumbs u
  15. What's the cost? Does it take expertise to do, or can anyone buy the spray and apply it assuming they're moderately careful? You can actually buy a can and do it yourself, apparently. (thumbs u This was at the top of google when I searched "paper deacidification spray". Read away. Would this be considered restoration?
  16. Anyone with a Superman 1 cgc 2.0 blue label - I'll pay $30,000 today and thank you profusely!! Still looing for a Superman #1? Surprised no one has come forward yet to sell you a copy. Good luck! I think it's very unlikely to find an unrestored Superman #1 for under guide these days. Copies in lower grades than 2.0 were already selling for close to $30k three years ago and the last 2.5 sold for $36.5k about 18 months ago. With all the crazy early Superman and Batman comics and generally the GA key books hype lately prices have gone up significantly within the last 18 months. There is however an unrestored low grade Superman #1 in the upcoming CC auction if you don't mind the fatal pq. Good luck with your search (thumbs u
