    Ok, thanks, any known alternatives?

    I'll do it. Eventually I could find the source of the problem by myself, but I think it is fine to ask people who have already done it for years.

    It is not top secret info right? ;)

    I would guess it is more of a trade secret than top secret. There are many here who do this (cleaning/pressing comics) as a profession, not a hobby.

    I have grown to appreciate what Jack Kirby has done for the comic industry. He is dynamic and impactful. He is a pioneer.

    I hate his work though. His raw pencils are much better than the final work, but I have zero interest in buying anything of his era.

    The original X-Men stuff is eye poison.

    With the right inker, Kirby's 1960s stuff was great. Not a fan of his 1970s work though.

    I don't know what Hero wants.  I am hoping for his cooperation to resolve the situation.

    Based solely on what I have read on these boards, I believe Hero still imagines - rightly or wrongly - that he will at some point be able to finish all of the promised work and salvage his reputation (and not have to repay any of his customers). I think if he wanted to return the comics to his customers, as repeatedly requested, he would have already done so. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but I think on the off chance you are able to establish contact with him he is going to tell you to go :censored: yourself.

    I live close to this situation, and I would be happy to go down there at my own expense and try to resolve this, by which I mean figure out if the books are still there and if the owners can be identified.  If they are and can, I'd start packing and shipping them at my expense and hope to be reimbursed by the owners.  It goes without saying that I don't want Covid and would greatly prefer to have backup.

    I think there's probably only a small chance anyone's books are recoverable.  It's not hard to imagine a person who is desperate enough would cash in.

    I might be completely off base, but what makes you think Hero Restoration wants to return these comics?

    Social call. I haven't really bought much in over ten years. Checking out the market....seeing if I need to do round 2 or sell em off at some point. I just now found out there's a pedigree label. Not a fan of the color.

    Is shiverbones around? Who from the original crew still hangs? Have we lost anyone? I know RIP DM'd me, greggy's still being greggy. BSD extraordinaire.

    And if you want them to appear in this thread you have to summon them like this (not sure if the old forum had this option):

    @shiverbones

    @Rip

    @greggy

    Here's a fun fact. I only have one 8.x bronze book, cause I never saw anything higher. HOM 256. Love that Wrightson cover. HOM 205 still elusive. I think I have 2 9.2 and everything is 9.4 up. I know I have boxes of "undercopies" as I was upgrading.

    I know how hard it can be to find some of these books in high grade, including the ones you mentioned. I had a few HOM 205 in 8.5 - 9.0 and sold them thinking a better copy would come along... :tonofbricks:

    And, yes, we want ALL of your undercopies!

    Did you sell part of your horror collection? The market is nowhere near as crazy high as it was during Covid but I don't think high-grade DC Bronze Age horror has softened at all.

    This forum is nowhere near as busy as when you haunted it. But Shiverbones is still a regular, I believe.

    What needs to be done to turn this into a criminal case?

    Would this be a criminal case? Or would the individuals have to go after Hero in small claims court for services paid for but not rendered? Even if you got a judgment there, wouldn't you still have to fight for your property/money via a sheriff, or a lien or something? In my experience with a similar situation (a Canadian small business that was ripped off by a contractor) the judgment was the easiest part. And though we won (the defendant skipped the trial), we never received a penny, just more aggravation.

    Hi ,

    I got lucky on a grade and have a moderately expensive book , well for my budget .

    Avengers 3 , CGC 9.4 Grade .

    I have never sold a expensive comic before and wanted to get some tips .

    Looking at something like heritage it looks like someone would lose %30 total of the price .

    I know some of this is from the buyers premium but this usually leads to buyers bidding less .

    Is it possible to simply list a big book on facebook marketplace and take paypal and then ship the book out?
    Or does this open one up to scams ?

    Thanks !

    If you want to sell for a fixed price and are worried about scams (and don't want to sell it on the CGC boards) I would consign the comic with one of the earlier mentioned consignors.

    If you want to auction the comic then both Heritage and Comiclink are options, but be ready to accept the risk that with current market conditions that comic could easily sell for less than GPA.

    The final decision is really going to depend on how desperate you are to sell this comic. Good things come to those who wait.
