I'm more freaking out that the customer service rep told me via email they couldn't do anything and it happened during shipping to them :jawdrop:

To give the customer service rep the benefit of the doubt and assume the corner did fold over as shown during shipment to CGC (which I 100% believe to be incorrect), they may want to immediately fire the presser who then pressed the comic with the corner still folded.

Things used to be different with CGC. I remember when I first submitted back in 2007 or so I did not pack the comics correctly and the bundle shifted inside the parcel and banged the lower right corner of nearly every comic submitted. A customer service rep (Gemma?) immediately contacted me to let me know what had happened and warn me that the comics would most likely grade lower than I had expected. She offered me the option to proceed with grading or to have the comics returned at no extra cost (other than shipping) which I gratefully accepted.   :foryou:

  2. One reason to re-holder the comic could be concern over the micro chamber paper. CGC originally put micro chamber paper between the first page and the front cover and the last page and the front cover. In many instances, this placement of the micro chamber paper was believed to be reacting with some front covers and causing them to turn transparent. I believe (been a while since I have cracked a comic out) CGC now places the micro chamber paper a few pages in to avoid this.

USPS has been absolutely useless.  If they do know who did it, they are not sharing the information.

My ex worked in tracking years ago at a major courier company in Canada and the vast majority of packages that went *missing* were opened or stolen by employees. The problem was so rampant that the company would frequently run sting operations with bait packages to catch the suspected crooks in the act. The problem was that my ex was also on the union and she said that in order to avoid battles with the union (who always vigorously defended the accused union member - even when caught red-handed) and/or lengthy criminal cases the company almost always encouraged the guilty employees to quit in exchange for no mention of the *suspected* theft on their record. And the stolen packages were just recorded as lost with any insurance paid out...

It was definitely kind of a weird challenge that the grades were so similar this time around. In the ideal world, I like to give you guys a wider range of grades for these contests. But sheesh, I didn't tell CGC to give me a 4.0 on every freakin' book!  :makepoint:

You just have an eye for those fours. You are obviously a VG kinda guy when it comes to comics!

Yes, it would. I have been considering that for some time, but I never dreamed I would have to include any clients. Maybe it's my resistance, and my desire to fix as many as I can that is the problem. Maybe my problem is just not knowing when to throw in the towel. I always say to myself well this book just needs that, that order just needs a spinal. Be real shame not to finish. Which would be okay except the time to get it to finish is not happening so choosing quality over quitting is only making things worse for me.

I still think this is the best of a bunch of bad options at this stage. Return everything finished or unfinished and declare bankruptcy.

Then you can focus on your health and focus on the future. And if you still want to stay in the game you can start over at square one. I honestly believe many of your clients will be happy to give you a second chance.

That light at the end of the tunnel isn't always a train.

I'm thinking about getting into pressing and restoration. More time on my hands as the writers are still on strike. Send me your books. I think I'd would do good work. For a while I was into vintage TimeX watches and I had a Timex from the 1960s that was all gunked up and would not keep a wind. I tried everything to fix it until I had the thought one day, "Why not throw it into a pot of boiling water?" So I did, let it boil for about 20 minutes pulled it out and it runs perfectly now. I have a natural talent for restoration work.

So I'm going to start pressing and restoring books. BM me for prices. I guarantee quick turnaround.

How long will you let the comics boil for?
