I have taken advantage of Conan's generous offer and moved one of my MCS consignments over to the account they have set up for @jimjum12

Love Diary #31 with a beautiful cover-matching purple label! (just a tear seal - no CT). Head over to MCS and grab it now for only $300 with every penny going to help this great cause - get well soon, Jimbo!

FYI - It appears that MCS has sent this comic to their Jan. 6th auction. Make sure to bid big for Jimbo!   (thumbsu

Yes, I was wondering what My Comic Shop's position would be if I told them to send it to CGC and it came back with a blue label again--I would assume, that since MCS thinks it's trimmed, they wouldn't be willing to sell the book on their site as a universal grade. It would be an odd situation, certainly.

Right now my decision basically comes down  to time and money.  If I send it to CGC and it comes back restored that would be lousy, time-consuming, and it would mean being into the book for more money. Also I'm wondering how much the market has bottomed out on EC stuff. I've heard, here and in other places, that pre-code horror has been resilient in the face of the current bear market. And it's a great Ghastly cover. I'll see what MCS offers to buy it for and then take it from there, but I really do not want to sell on ebay, even if it's reslabbed univeral. Too many ebay horror stories of buyers scamming sellers and payments put on hold.

I am sure MCS would have zero qualms in respect to any decision made by CGC regarding restoration or the lack of.

And though there may be grading fees involved with submitting to CGC (depending on the value you declare for the comic), you should be able to recover those via an increase in value for any higher grade, even if restored. The higher grade may also make it easier to move.

Personally, I would not give up on this comic.

...When I see Bernie Wrightson's prints from his classic retelling of the story, all I see is Gothic Romance.

I see the love of the creator for his creation. I see the loneliness of the creation. I see the maddening rage of the crowd that doesn't understand either.

Aren't love and obsession two different sides of the same coin in almost every romance story?

I wouldn't call the novel Frankenstein a Gothic Romance and still don't see the warning about the dangers of romance. I will find my Wrightson Frankenstein (autographed by the artist!) and take a peek but highly doubt I will ever reread the novel. I find 19th century literature can be a slog to get through

I'm hoping that the Surfer will still be Norrin Radd and that Anya Taylor-Joy's role will be as Frankie Raye (she is a redhead), who will save the Earth by agreeing to become Galactus' new herald, Nova! I am guessing the script writers will pass on including the ultimate nullifier, the original deus ex machina.
