Judging by the clenched fists, have the claws been Photoshopped out there?

From Timber Wolf? Nope, that's how DC drew him in the 70s (he has been around since the 60s). I'm sure it isn't a coincidence that Dave Cockrum, who created Wolverine's look (without the mask on) once he took over drawing the Uncanny X-Men, had previously worked for DC drawing LoSH and, of course, Timber Wolf...

I would estimate that attendance was lower than the previous Father's Day Van Comic Show. Some vendors said their retail sales were lower this time compared to June, 2018 but it may have been because they were also vending 2 weeks ago at Fan Expo Vancouver? Seemed like most SA, BA and CA sellers did great. My 1st sale during dealer set up was FF #48 fn+ (worship), FF #49 vgfn, #30 vf but coupon clipped so a reader, # 58 Inhumans fn-. Sold Flash #139 Prof. Zoom vg+ due to sub-crease, FF Annual #6 fn- baby Franklin Richards, Strange Adventures #11, etc. so my 2nd best $$ Show in Vancouver ever.

Hey @aardvark88 I was the buyer of the Thor #168 (Galactus!) and my friend was the buyer of the Flash #139! I should have guessed you were a boardie based on your great pricing, grading and comic knowledge. Wish I'd showed up early enough for that FF #49...

My friend is just getting into collecting and wanted to circle the entire show first and have me point out which vendor had (IMHO) the fairest prices. As luck would have it, your table was the winner. That 1st Zoom is the first comic in my friend's collection and he is very happy with it (he didn't even notice the sub crease until I pointed it out - comic presents much nicer than the grade). Surprised your Avengers #4 didn't move as it was also very fairly priced. Nice to meet and talk with you and glad you had a great show! (thumbsu

Thanks BA, I live in the UK, so it would be more trouble than it is worth.

If CGC forgot to note it on the label they should pay for the shipping both ways AND the cost of reholdering! Regardless, great comic! :cloud9:

This is actually a Sucha news copy, I enclosed the old

label but CGC chose to ignore it.

Wow! Terrific copy of a tough issue of Thor to find in high grade! (thumbsu

I would definitely ask them to fix that label foul-up tho...

So with enough light and a nice clean white background (no reflections) I was able to take the below photo.  Obviously the photo is edited/redacted, but can you guess which slab belongs to which grading company?  All three grading companies are represented here.

Slightly off-topic: the idea of the cross-over service for re-slabbing books into CGC holders would have me sending in a whole load of plastic if it were not for the rings.  Due to the rings, I should be looking at a cross-back service.  That way my book will be represented in the census, I'll be able to add it to my registry set, and I'll still be able to appreciate the beautiful cover art.

Yeesh, that middle slab is fugly. Those rings made a mess of an otherwise beautiful comic. :boo:

FD, typically how long after you send them books do they end up in auction?

For myself it's normally been 4 -6 weeks (depending on the timing between auctions) and about the same amount of time after the auction until you receive payment.

Some people don't care about newton rings. Some of us do. Sorry. Shouldn't have to apologize for not getting what I paid for. A crystal clear case as described on this company's home page. Maybe i'm just expecting too much.

I believe another reason why Newton Rings have become such an issue lately despite, as CGC noted, being a common occurrence for the last 20 years, is because on the previous generation of slabs you could often slide a piece of paper between the sheets of plastic to correct the effect; with the new slabs you can't. :tonofbricks:

The fact that it received a 9.4 grade indicates to me the damage occurred after it left CGC's hands. Most likely Shaken Comic Syndrome (allowing the slab to bounce back and forth in the shipping carton). The same thing happened to me on a recent shipment where 4 slabs were shipped to me horizontal. On larger shipments where the slabs are shipped upright (vertical) I've never had a problem.

Contact CGC and they will most likely request you return the comic so they can inspect the damage.

5.5, the only book in the bunch I felt was undergraded .

From a fellow HOF fan you have my sympathies, sounds like it was a sweet #16 until SCS struck.

What happens if you send it back and CGC regrades it as a lower grade (i.e. 4.5) due to the damage? Do they credit you the fair market value difference between the grades?
