At about age 8, a friend and I were playing this. I hit him in the temple with one of these heavy darts. His mom woudn't let him come over to play anymore.
My older brother took a lawn dart in the shin. I'm not sure any of us were ever actually aiming for the rings like we were supposed to...

I got Mike Powers AND his atomic outpost? fort? for my tenth birthday. Back them my mom would leave my present at the foot of my bed so I could open it when I first woke. Needless to say, I wasn't awake more than a minute before I had the box torn open (who kept anything mint in package?) and was playing with them, and played right up until the second I had to leave for school. And despite my mom's pleas for me to put my presents away, I left them in the middle of the living room floor so I could start playing with them again as soon as I got home. When I did, I discovered my older brother's dog Jethro had ate Mike Powers AND the fort. RIP Atomic Man.

More from the Suscha News pedigree:
Absolutely love this comic, btw!

Thanks, Barton. As you well know, not only are the Suscha picture frames virtually all near mint or better, but for many of the Superhero books the original owner bought multiple copies. For instance, I know there's at least one 9.8 copy of Hulk #152. It's "incredible"!
It may not have every book on your stringent want list, but it's the most awesome collection of picture frames and it's hard to imagine how any other could be nicer.
I know one comic he bought multiple copies of was Avengers #103. I was doing cartwheels when I landed the 9.4 Suscha News copy (one of my favorite Sentinels' covers) and then found out there was another 9.4 AND a 9.6.
Still an amazing-looking comic and one I'm happy to own but it takes some of the pride out of owning a Pedigree when you learn your copy isn't unique...

Here's a Mystic #6
You don't see this too often. Only 9 on the census. I would grade this as a fine-. Beautiful book! It has the great "Eye of Doom" story and art by Basil Wolverton. Just a great book from a great series. There are two poor copies on eBay ranging from $72 - $108. I probably won't get a chance to get this one back anytime soon. Don't mind keeping this one. $600
Does this count as GGA? Good Ghoul Art?

Learning with 8-track tapes. Does this count as a toy?
No idea, but I did own a Quiz Wiz with - naturally - the superhero trivia questions cartridge. Unsurprisingly, no one wanted to play with me...

My older brother had all of these and when he'd wrestle me into his room, close the door and turn off the lights their glow-in-the-dark action would scare the #@%! out of me!

Show us the return address on the box. That doesn't look like any MCS package I've ever gotten.
No, those do look like the foam blocks MCS uses. But the slabs I have received are normally also packaged in one of those individual-sized MCS protective boxes. They are normally wedged so the box can't move around inside the larger box, but the larger box is definitely not crush proof (the only additional protection is the bundle of kraft paper placed on top).

Hi all
Recently struck a deal to obtain a major major grail for me, so the herd must be thinned a little.
With that, payment will be expected within 3 days after sale for this Thread. ( I will send out invoices tomorrow). What doesn't sell here will be moved to eBay and/or one of the 'Big 3'. Iv'e sold and bought from many here. I will keep the Thread open until Sunday (unless all books sell before then). Two of the books that will be offered have been in my collection for years, and i thought would be for many more but I am letting them go (One seldom offered anywhere, the other "hot" right now and climbing), the others iv'e decided to shift focus on so they don't fit my 'permanent' collection goals anymore.
First in the Thread trumps all pending PM negotiations, which i can't / won't get to until after i finish posting all books. Paypal is preferred method of payment. A shipping charge of $8 will be added. Returns on raw books excepted up to 3 days after you receive book(s), return shipping on buyer. No returns on slabbed book. We;ll start with smalls and work up to the finish. There will be four lots (one with three books offered together). I can be slow with posting (checking for typo's and such so please bear with me). First up:
Jonesy Comics (lot) #'s 2 (vg), 4 (vg) and 5 (vg/fn) Asking $75 for the set
Cool little obscure run from Quality Comics. Teen Humor is hot right now and only getting hotter. This series has some clever covers. Especially love the #5

I believe in journalism this is known as burying the lead...
Every slab I have ever received from MCS has been packed in its own box and then that box is wedged securely between four foam blocks inside a larger box. Maybe they had someone new in shipping the day you ordered? Was the outer box damaged? I think it's fair if they cover return shipping costs and reholder in fees. Hope it finds its way back to you in the same condition as when you bought it.

Slime. We went crazy for that stuff when it came out in, when...1977?
I remember they also had a version with plastic worms, but my main memory is getting it stuck in my hair and finding out it wouldn't wash out.

Very disappointing. Bought a Crime Suspenstories #22 from MCS that they graded a 1.8 and found out when I sent it in to CGC that it was actually a 3.0.
Terrible under-grading. Don't buy comics there. Leave them for me.

I'd bet nearly everyone had one of these if they grew up in the late 60s/early 70s. I think they were a mandatory Xmas present (along with Doodle Art and Lite Brite) and if I recall they came with a disk showing the Seven Wonders of the World. But for me Peanuts were always my favorite, the colors so vivid and the 3D so real I would stare into it endlessly, trying to wish myself inside that Viewmaster.

One of the earliest toys I remember being really, really excited for (1973 - I was five) and playing with non-stop were my Lone Ranger action figures (and their horses!). But I soon graduated to GI Joe, Six Million Dollar Man and Mego Planet of the Apes figures and these three were left behind faster than you can say Sheriff Woody.

Love Harvey but most of my comics (and interest) relate to the Bronze Age as those are the comics I was devouring right off the rack in the mid-70s. Some of those can be tough to find in high grade, also.

Any upcoming Jon Romita signings, I'm never seeing him at cons, but I do see a bunch of people with CGCs of his for like new books, anyone know where I can find out when/where he will have one?
NY Comics also acts as facilitators for signings by Mr. Romita. That's where I got mine.

Great stuff Barton (the interview, not the comics - though those aren't bad either). I can't wait until your books become an official pedigree so all those undercopies I've bought from your sales threads can finally be tagged "from the @Ghost Town collection."

Childhood Memories: The Toys of the Silver and Bronze Age
in Comics General

Honestly, the toys we played with the most when I was a kid were guns, guns, guns. Plastic guns, potato guns, metal guns, air rifles, cap pistols, machine guns - you name it we had it. I don't know if kids are still allowed to play with them - but for us toy guns were an arsenal of fun. Every kid had them (boys I mean - I didn't play with girls) and we always wanted, needed, more. When I close my eyes I can still hear the sound those machine guns made when you squeezed the trigger.
