Yes, it's "better than nothing"...what an endorsement, eh? And only very few sellers will accept a return on a CGC book, even if clearly over-graded, while I know nobody (at least in the CGC Forum) whom will not accept returns on raw books

For those who don't know Mike, he's one of the tightest, most accurate and knowledgeable graders I have dealt with in 30 years of seriously collecting comics. To me, his opinion is pretty much gospel. +1 I would prefer to buy raw books from Mike than any CGC book, especially those recently graded

How does pressing have anything to do with undisclosed micro-trimming? Neither can be consistently detected. You do the math. Neither can farting on a book and letting it air out. Neither farting nor pressing is equivalent to undisclosed destruction of a book meant to defraud a buyer. Farting does not flatten/crush the spine, does not pop the staples and does not create right edges pokethroughs aka Costanza style. I will take your farted books over your pressed books any time.

I wouldn't be shocked if that's what it becomes. When it was first revealed that comics were being pressed (before & after scans of books with significant grade bumps were posted to these fourms)....the villagers began to riot. There was outrage & distain. Now everyone & their little sister presses books. It's amazing what can happen when people are presented with an opportunity to print their own money. Sad but true. And micro-trimming could be the next thing (if not already) once CGC says that they cannot distinct micro-trimming. Who knows, they may even offer in-house micro-trimming in a near future... I am therefore asking this question to CGC (and all dealers and experimented collectors should ask themselves too), what do you consider the most difficult thing to detect on a raw book, pressing or micro-trimming ?

CGC said they cannot detect pressing with 100% certainty so that is why pressed books get blue label. Next I guess if CGC cannot detect micro-trimming with 100% certainty then you will see micro-trimmed books getting blue label. Soon, you will have people offering micro-trimming service and most of CGC blue labels will be pressed, micro-trimmed, spine reversed and costanzed. Is this where you think the hobby is going ? Micro trimming and pressing are unnoticable whereas Costanzas stick out like a sore..... They still get a blue label though and a grade bump most of the time...
