  1. If that is the only CB mark on the book and there aren't any/many other non-pressable defects, you definitely have a shot at 9.8. But yeah kind of a coin flip. If you keep submitting, you'll likely eventually end up with a 9.8. Obviously, there's a risk there (handling, etc.), so it's up to you! FWIW I've seen many 9.8's with significantly worse CB ticks, and yours is small and by the staple, both of which should help. I'd take a very close look when you get the book, to make sure there isn't something else you're missing, such as color rub, tiny tears, blunted corners, etc. 9.8 is a spectrum like any other grade, which unfortunately (and inevitably) has fairly significant overlap with 9.6 (low 9.8's versus high 9.6's). My advice would be to scan as many slabbed 9.6's and 9.8's of the same book on eBay or some other venue and note the common differences, if you can see any, focusing on the listings with high quality images of FC and BC. Good luck!
  2. This a weirdly good looking book for the number of spine ticks on the FC...I'm not really sure tbh. Eye test says 9.2 but that many ticks says 8.0ish...hm I guess I'll split the difference and saaaay 9.0? Yeah, 9.0.
  3. Was gonna say 9.2, but still a pretty nice grade! Great looking book
  4. Welcome Timothy! I'd say 8.0 personally. I think it'd probably have to be the worst color rub of all time to drop this to 4.5...but hey I'm still pretty new to this
  5. Possibly I misused the term. Just a little roughness to the very top and bottom corners of the spine. No actual tears I suppose!
  6. Hey all! I'm really hoping for a 9.6 on this one, but I'd love input before I sub. Flaws include one very small spine tick (that I can see) on the BC very top near the spine, minor bindery tears at the top and bottom spine (both around 1/16 inch or less), and very slightly white/blunted corner BRFC (though corner is fully intact). BLBC has slight bend, but it is not color breaking--it looks worse in the picture but should almost certainly press out to present better. Curious what y'all think--9.6 possible with a C&P? I know graders are probably very tough on this comic. Thanks ahead of time!
  7. All books at or below current FMV (based on GoCollect figures). Check 'em out! http://myslabs.to/286b2f08-0e2c-4327-bd6b-2833227c42b6
  8. Aw darn missed this—already on the eBay?
  9. Thanks for the replies! Was hoping this could pull a 9.0 with a good C&P, but hey, that’s why I post here. Always tricky grading my own books that I want to be higher. Will probably hold off grading this one, based on the feedback.
  10. Same boat as @Mars76, I'm not super familiar with the series (or at least, the individual comics), but I've come across many issues that have similar color rub issues. I'll tentatively say 7.0/7.5, but color rub/scratching is not something I'm super comfortable with grading yet. Without it 8.5, but I also have a hard time seeing this book dropping 4+ tiers for the color rub...but I dunno, still new...I'm interested to see what more seasoned graders think.
  11. 9.6+. As far as pressing goes, I'm still pretty new to this, but from what I've gleaned (based on scouring the web and info from my current presser, who's been in the game for 10+ years), it can be done but doesn't respond as well (lower temps/shorter times I think, so as not to ruin the foil). Based on what I've heard from others, I'd say avoid CCS and go third party, but definitely message your potential presser first to make sure: A.) they are able to press it; and B.) have experience pressing foil covers. If I remember right, this cover isn't embossed, so there is a pretty good chance it can be pressed I think. Good luck! I have a big soft spot for the Venom mini-series' from when I was a kid. Sinner Takes All was my personal fav
  12. Yeah easily 9.6 with press I think. Only see the one CB tick on the back. 9.6/9.8...roll the dice
  13. 9.0/9.2, mostly for the blunted corners. One (I think...?) CB tick on the back a little less than half way up the spine. Could be imagining it though.
  14. Many look color breaking. Some blunting and soiling. 9.0 for me post C&P
  15. I'd say 9.4+ with a press. I'll go out on a limb and say 9.6
  16. Nah not a key..Batman Beyond 2 lol. But it’s a NS which is tricky to find in high grade, and I wanted to have a graded set. You’re prob right though, may just be better to keep my eye out for a more surefire high grade copy.
  17. Yep I’m BB fan, so this is the second one posted in as many months. This is a newsstand copy, and it has a few points I’m unsure of so figured I’d put it out into the world for feedback. 1-2 CB ticks on front and back, bit of wear at the spine corners, and general soiling (most noticeable on BLFC by the UPC). Also a bit of creasing BLFC as well. The line on the BRFC looks like a tear but it’s actually a small CB crease that doesn’t go edge to edge. Curious what y’all think it could go at if a good C&P takes care of some of that soiling and minor creasing by the UPC, as well as the curled spine. Thanks ahead of time for your thoughts!
  18. Imma say 8.5 but I'm not sure how they'll penalize the spine rub. I know minor spine rub doesn't usually ding all that much, but this is unfortunately in a very conspicuous spot on the FC.
