  1. excellent art Ron Junk Hater.
  2. excellent art Ron Thanks Will.
  3. unbelievable, Ron I think I almost like this page more than the first page just a piece of a what I know is a world class collection Thanks Andy. Means a lot coming from you. Between the 2 pages I think you get Mitzi from almost every angle. Close-up, full figure front and back, profile, etc. She's our gal.
  4. Great, then you wouldn't miss one little page, if you were to... I don't know... sell me that splash page...?
  5. Oh, I also have the complete story.
  6. I love 15, but she's not facing the reader like 17.
  7. Yes, there were paste-up balloons. Most have fallen off of the title page. I'm thinking of getting it restored, getting rid of the re-work. I've been in contact with Robert Dennis.
  8. I'm so enamoured of Mitzi, I own the real deal.
  9. No. 17 is the more iconic cover. Her look, her pose, she is every bit a superhero on this cover. Her hair is wild and untamed as she breaks free from her constraints, her breasts thrusting in defiance. Her look is sultry and dangerous. Her eyes say, don't mess with me, yet it is a very sexy look. This is the cover that got Wertham's panties in a knot. This is the only cover to be reproduced in full in SOTI. This is Phantom Lady 17.
  10. Ok, I might have mentioned this before, but PL 23 cover is taken from an interior panel from a previous issue, maybe 17. She's facing in the opposite direction with a thought ballon and a black background. When they needed a cover for 23, they flopped and blew up the image and had another artist fill in the background. Whether it was Baker doing PL you decide, but he didn't do the b/g.
  11. Don't know who the winner was. A 5.5 went on Ha.com for $310.00 5 years ago. A nice 8.0 going for $1100.00 in today's market, doesn't seem too far off. I was toying with the idea, as I'm sure were a few others, but went to lunch instead. It's not an easy book, and there are lots of nice femmes on the cover. Congrats to the buyer.
  12. Wow! I think I know where you got this. In fact I might have held this in hand.
  13. Nice catch. Good story. You got that for a descent price and it's such a great cover.
  14. Gorgeous. I know what you mean. I still get light headed when I look at mine.
  15. It's not the rarest, scarcer in grade. Your's presents well. I think #3 is tougher.
  16. I suppose it's a case of CL 25 being the more desirable book for a Baker collector, but ATAPP 2 being a scarcer book. In this case, the two factors resulted in about the same price. Yes.
  17. It's interesting to note that the All-True All-Picture Police Cases #2 was half a grade lower than the Cinderella Love 25, yet sold for roughly the same price. Very strong price on the Police Cases, yet not surprising.
  18. Good point. I guess it depends on how you define "romance." He was having a fling with a young lady. Doesn't that qualify The book was not re-sold after on eBay or elsewhere. You seem sure. Was it ever relisted? I am sure. It was not offered or sold anywhere after that initial sale on eBay. Was that the same copy that Roy originally offered for sale raw on the boards? I don't remember there being APCs in the Sixth St collection, but maybe there were. Roy never offered a copy on the boards. That was APC 9. APC 6 is my avatar.

Was it ever relisted? I am sure. It was not offered or sold anywhere after that initial sale on eBay. Do you own it?

  21. M.S.'s copy finally found a home. http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fbids%2Easp%3Fx%3D30%26y%3D10%26pg%3D22&id=1123917
  22. Good point. I guess it depends on how you define "romance." If we broaden to GGA, then I guess this one would count as well because of the woman on the cover. In that case, one of the PLs probably has the Baker record ... if you believe those books actually have Baker art! I don't see the sale of the APC 6 on GPA. Maybe buyer and seller came to a deal off of eBay? I don't know why it's not on GPA. It was on my watched list for a long time. And I remember it being listed as sold through ebay.
