  1. We're in a three-way tie for top-graded on that one. I was lucky to track down a raw copy that graded a shade better than I had expected. Tough book in nice. When's Dale coming back for the rest of his blowout?
  2. And your collection came to mind as well. Joanna, Ron, Rick, John, and that new kid Tony have had a presence in this thread from the beginning - big time Baker fans with great books. A lot of collectors dabble and have outstanding mini-runs, which given the scarcity and comparative cost has been a great way to approach St John romance. There aren't that many committed completionists, though. That's a long long term collecting goal. Also a shout out to my friend Bumble Kitty who rarely posts but believe me has put together a fantastic collection as well. Thanks Andy. It was the Baker Romance thread that brought me here. I was friends with Joanna on ebay as she was bidding against me so often. Back then you could communicate with other bidders. Then Steve (eccomic) sent me a link to the BR thread. I mentioned this to Joanna who went " Ron, I'm Jvr11. That's my thread." I then joined the boards. I've gotten some nice books as a result of coming here. And made some great friends. It's too bad Joanna rarely stops by this thread any more. I'm not even sure she still collects Baker. I still remember (I should because it was that long ago! ) buying my first Baker -- Crippen copy of TAT 1 from Dr. Love. And thus the addiction began! I miss Joanna as well..... she sold me my Venus 19...... GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) Yes, I'd miss anybody who sold me a Venus 19.

  4. The winner has already left negative feedback claiming he never got the book. Right you are. I missed that. With such a poor seller feedback record, I never would've taken a chance to the tune of $2,200. in the first place. Yeah, I figured this seller was trouble, so I didn't bid. I believe he had previously listed the book as a BIN with a price of around $10K. Can the sellers get their money back? He had previously listed the book for $10K. How can ebay allow this guy to exist? comicnut1969 is apparently Ryan Elliott. If you guys don't know about Ryan Elliott and PGX, you should probably Google it as one of the Negative Feedback comments recommend. He's long been associated with PGX and has a long history of questionable behavior including grading his own books and encapsulating them at PGX. ... and making off with ppl's money? Not shipping books?

  6. You mean lying on her side, like most crime-fighters?
  7. I picked this up at a show yesterday from Harley Quinn.
  8. Yep. Except the piece at the bottom right that was hanging there arrived removed. Thanks Ha.
  9. Mine was the vg/f after losing out to the other. Well, I'd say you got a deal on that one... Thanks. That's one I'm glad to have. Doesn't show up often. I'll see if I can dig it out and scan it.
  10. Mine was the vg/f after losing out to the other.
  11. It's the "D". I might have paid a lot...at the time. The HA archives show two D copies being sold a couple of weeks apart. Clearly different books. Do you remember what that was about? Edited: Actually, I can now find just the one copy. I was probably thinking of a different book. You were thinking of the Wartime Romances 17, which there were 2 copies of...I have to remember not to talk to you about more than one title at a time...you just get too confused... Yes, and I have one of those WR 17's. That's when ppl were starting to see Baker Romances they'd never seen before, thanks to Davis Crippen. And the bids started to climb.

  13. Mine would grade the highest I'm sure, if I bothered to submit.
  14. Wow, where did you get such a nice copy? Bought it raw on Heritage last year. Yes, I see they graded it f/vf. You've been doing well with your submissions.
  15. Yeah, I saw those. I think it's fair to say that they are "fully priced"! No meat left on those bones.
  16. New slew of Baker romances appeared on ebay, all from the same seller, all low grade with big prices. Looks like the seller got a collection. http://www.ebay.com/itm/WARTIME-ROMANCES-July-1951-No-1-Matt-Baker-art-36pgs-Complete-/371484740294?hash=item567e374ac6:g:xfoAAOSwo0JWQ4qc
