  1. nice one Ron! how that dress is staying up is the greatest trick of all! Andy, it's like the Hulk's pants, only way more interesting.
  2. Feel like I gotta join the party. Cosmic Aeroplane copy. Presents well.
  3. That second panel is swiped from a Rita Hayworth publicity still.
  4. I picked up my copy about 15 years ago in that collection of Baker St. John's Harley picked up. Didn't know it was uncommon, just a great cover. Never had it graded, but I always thought it was vf.
  5. what titles did she like, Ron? She liked the DC's. Heart Throbs, Young Love, Girls Love, Secret Hearts, Young Romance (that Giordano/Adams cover I have, when I saw it as a kid I thought: Adams), Girls Romance, Falling in Love, I knew them all and READ them all. I used them to help draw girls. All the books you guys are looking at through slabs, I've known for decades.
  6. I'm pretty sure romance comics were invisible if you were a 12 year old boy. In my own memory I recall going from reading nothing but Harvey until I was nine, to never seeing them again. That's probably it. I can remember going carefully through the racks looking for oddball titles -- like the erratically issued Gold Key M.A.R.S. Patrol -- but I just don't remember seeing romance books. But I probably looked past them like they weren't there. I had a sister, no longer with us, who had a small stack of well read romance comics. They now reside with me.
  7. Label says Giordano, but that's got to be Neal Adams You could be right, although GCD also says Giordano. Of course it's Adams
  8. But I'm curious about the rest of you - who is your favorite "Good Girl" artist and why? Baker... followed by the others.
  9. Dale, are you planning on releasing anymore Baker books?
  10. Mine is as nice and I got it off ebay for $35.00. But that was many years ago. Soon everything done by him in decent shape will go for a minimum of $500.00.
  11. Strong result for THIS book. http://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/adventure/approved-comics-12-circle-8-pedigree-st-john-1954-condition-vf/a/121602-12246.s?type=bidnotice-endofauction
  12. This cover illustrates what a solid draftsman Baker was. Those staircases with their different vanishing points, plus the doorway and such, give a real feel of solid structure. Then placing the figures on those steps and getting their weight right, so there is no sense of falling or mistaken foreshortening. The railings are perfect. Even the style of the interior is consistent. Nothing is wrong with this drawing.
  13. I've been looking for an upgrade of that for years.
  14. This arrived recently. Baker horror.
  15. Man, I completely love the dame on this cover. It's books like this that make me so tempted to chase Baker books. Maybe if I hit the powerball tonight.... Excellent looking copy! I can understand why the top may not be shown, but what's the grade? I know! I know! It's 7.0 OW/W Wise guy! I can also tell you how much he paid for it... his credit card numbers... eBay and Paypal passwords... any personal information you want. ...but it'll cost you. How much? Maybe you're willing to make me an offer to not reveal your info? You mean... BLACKMAIL? That's okay. Talk away.

  19. Very nice. There was an 8.5 Seven Seas 4 in Chicago year before last. Oh yeah, the asking was $10K. Who had it? Harley? It was a boardie I think. I'll have to search my memory.
