  1. Nice looking Liberty 11. I'm sure that's one you don't mind winning with a tracking bid! Yeah, I really wanted the Famous Funnies 89. Seems to be the fiery cousin to my 81 (not a Berk copy).
  2. Managed to pick up two key first appearances...Captain Triumph and Fearless Flint. Ha ha. Still, happy to own a small part of the collection.
  3. Really wanted the Mary Marvel 5 cover, but can't keep up with the big spenders. Looks like it's in a bid-off as well.
  4. I think my thoughts are in line with most folks so far. I actually sold my AS8 a month or so ago simply due to the amazing appreciation it's seen over the past couple of years I owned it. While I like the cover, it doesn't really feel like a 1st appearance to me (given that the appearance/story was hastily added and was originally intended for Sen1 in the first place). Presumably AS8 will always be the bigger key and is indeed first appearance, but I wonder if the cost gap is a bit too wide right now between that and Sen1 and WW1. Personally, I've always loved the Sen1 cover the best, so will keep my copy indefinitely. Certainly my personal favorite of the three.
  5. I've entertained picking up a few of these in the past, but never purchased any individuals (except Nemesis 1st app). There's some really decent cover art on many of these. Seems like a good opportunity to grab a bunch at once. Thanks!
  6. I like your logic, and your selection of books is top notch. Never seen the Bill Battle, and I don't recall the US Marines cover (though I want it now!). And there's just something uber cool about the Green Lama and the march to war.
  7. I thought long and hard about bidding on that one last night. Great pickup! Looks good for the grade too. Congrats!
  8. Fantastic book. I just picked up a copy of this one myself, but it pales in comparison to the Church copy. Nice!
  9. If I counted correctly, there are 11 copies of AS 8 on eBay right now. I wouldn't say that the prices are reasonable on most of them, but they are easily available . Seems like a lot of copies for the market to absorb. It'll be interesting to see if the movie (successful or not) creates demand or if we see some softening in price. Also worth noting that there are seven WW1 (all but one are restored) and zero Sensation1 on eBay. I don't think any of the three are extremely scarce (though Sen1 does seem the harder to find), so is it just 1st appearance hype and folks looking to capitalize on a hot book ($$$) that's pulling the AS8 out of the woodwork and not the others?
  10. Good luck Gino. You've got the hardest one out of the way. I've seen the #1 come up a few times and was just out-sniped once. But I'm sure it will come around again. There's just no comparison to that cool #5 cover though.
  11. I sure I won't be the only one drooling over these when they come to auction. That #5 will cost a pretty penny.
  12. Nice books. I had some luck with pressing a few of the #1's up to 9.6 a few years ago. Haven't been lucky enough to get a 9.8 either. #1 - Looks like both top and bottom corner along the spine are a little bit soft. Maybe a non-ink stain on the back (middle spine)? Hard to tell how that will clean, but I'd think 9.4-9.6 would be reasonable. #2 - Obvious issue here is the corner bend both fc and bc. Doesn't look like it breaks color, so that one might press up nicely. I can't tell if there's a slight loss of paper on the tip of that corner or not? If not, it's got a shot at a 9.8. If so, still seems like a 9.6 candidate to me. Nice books!
  13. I've always admired that one from a far as well. Fantastic pick-up! Looks like it's in great condition too. Congrats!
  14. Probably my favorite that I don't own. Very nice!
  15. Great place to start! I love that cover. Once you get one, then the real frenzy begins. Congrats.
  16. Two fantastic copies!!! Beautiful. Thanks for sharing Tyler!
