  1. I had another great experience with a recent purchase from Alex. The grading was perfect (and maybe even a bit conservative), and the transaction was as smooth silk. He's trustworthy, a pleasure to deal with, and I'd highly recommend for future purchases.
  2. What do you think? Does this one qualify?
  3. Wait, I did find another (and also have Mystery in Space 55). Strange Adventures 80
  4. That is odd that all the wash tones were in War comics aside from a few. Here's one of the Sea Devils. I forgot I had that one. My only other is the GI Combat 84, but it's not as nice as the one beaumonts posted.
  5. Okay...not a DC (nor Silver Age), but this Dell book from 1943 is an early example of a grey tone type cover.
  6. Great idea for a thread! I love grey / wash tone books. I have so few of them, so won't have much to contribute. But they're such cool covers. Love all the books in the thread so far!!!
  7. Now that's a serious search. Congrats on the pick-up! I know it must be a great feeling!!!
  8. I have it's twin! I love the cover/bright yellow background. One of my CMA favorites as well. Great book!
  9. Yes, absolutely amazing. I've just started to gain some interest in Romance books, and am shocked at all the good titles and long runs out there. There are some beautiful books in this thread!
  10. I picked this one up from a great boardie. A really tough DC romance book with a great black cover. Thanks Jimbo! Falling In Love #1
  11. Nice one! That's a good looking 6.0
  12. Here's a tough Dell run. First comic dedicated to war, and early issues predate US involvement in WWII (Pearl Harbor).
  13. Love this cover and appreciate the history lesson behind it! I'm going to have to go back and read mine.
  14. Both the Bell Serviceman and the Everyday Astrology are very cool obscure runs. Thanks for sharing!
  15. Well, now I know what I'll be doing for then next month. I've got my calendar blocked out already!
  16. If you don't like ads on the cover, you could probably nominate most all Charltons from the early '60's. As much as I love this book, it could've been much more attractive without the big Disney ad taking up 1/4 of the cover:
  17. After 3+ years and a little help from a boardie (thanks Comicjack), here is the entire 8 issue run of War Comics / War Stories:
  18. Very cool, and you get a whopping penny discount off of the combined cover price if you buy the three pack! Thanks for sharing!
  19. A very cool piece of history. Not sure I'd be willing to throw $11k at it, but it sure would look good at the entrance to my comics room (which is really just a large closet )
