  1. Those are great!

And even though the Raphael is the lowest grade, it's still my favorite of the bunch. (thumbs u

I like the Raph too. As for the 9.4. I've just resolved myself to the fact that, as a Signature Series collector, I'm not allowed to be upset by books that aren't 9.8...cause the grade isn't really the point.

Having said that, I was thrilled to see that one of them ended up a 9.8 :-)

By the way, I don't know if you guys remember when I posted these originally, but if you look at the backgrounds and weapons you will see that they all connect! It's difficult to tell at first glance now with the space between them.

  2. New work! and this one is pretty special to me.

As some of you know, I've been doing General Manager duties over at the 35 days of Kevin Eastman gallery at Meltdown comics.

Well, 2 nights ago was our last night, and we happened to have tattoo artists on hand. So Kevin and I get an idea to have him sketch on me, and then have it inked directly into my skin. We chose Splinter and Shredder on my leg.

Took him about 10 minutes to draw it, and about 3 hours for Bok to ink it.

Tattoo is done by Bok of Kayden Creations in Los Angeles.

I couldn't be happier with the result!

  3.

To be fair, that $250,000 price tag was several years ago...my guess is that it'd go for MUCH more if put on the market now, especially if the seller split up the pages and cover.

Also, in an interview about the piece, he scoffed at the price tag. It seemed pretty obvious that he doesn't want to sell it. However, he'd be foolish to not seriously consider any offer that even approached the asking price. People do stuff like that on ebay all the time. They put up a nice item and ask a ridiculous price for it. It likely won't sell, but it'll draw some attention (just like the Eastman piece).

Finally, I wouldn't quite say he over values his stuff. Keep in mind that he sketches for free at every appearance he does out of appreciation for his fans. Also, the latest string of covers he's done for IDW have sold on ebay and he's started every one of them at something very low (99 cents or something like that) so the market can decide what the value is. My guess is that there's some sentimental value attached to the earlier stuff. Imagine how life-changing the TMNT were for him. I wouldn't be in a hurry to get rid of it all either. My 2c

    This. All of this.

  4. I know this thread is kind of old but interesting stuff here. Anyone know if this artwork (ha.com, lot 92082) is original or is is a copy transfered to vellum paper? I can't tell from the description if it is truly the original. Seems like a high price if this really is just a copy.

    http://comics.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=7030&lotNo=92082

    It's the original art.

Also, anyone know the history of this book (Lot 91122)? It seems to be the most "reasonably" priced of all of them...maybe flew under the radar a bit. I may make an offer for this book...

    http://comics.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=7039&lotNo=91122

Most likely because it did not seem to come with any sort of documentation. Because of the photocopied nature of the books, people tend to shy away from copies that don't have any kind of written documentation from Mirage staff.

  5. Hey gang! If you haven't checked it out yet, I wanted to share Kevin's new Ebay account. I am heading up the account myself, but all items are directly from Kevin's West Coast collection (while Fiona will continue to curate the east coast collection).

Most items will be in fantastic condition, and just about everything will come with certificates of authenticity stating they are from Kevin's personal collection.

Kevin and I are both super excited about the new account, and hope you can find something you like :-)

  9. A super significant addition to my comic collection today! These are the Ashcan editions of Bob Burden's Flaming Carrot Comics 25, 26, and 27. Each with a print run of 1000 -- I've very seldom seen these at all, let alone within my price range. Not only did I find all three of these from the same collector, but they are in fantastic shape and I got a good deal!

    100_8302.jpg

  10. So what's the story on Gobbledygook? there was a 50 print run and then another release? How rare is the second release?

Not exactly. Yes, Gobbledygook 1 and 2 had a hand assembled print run of 50 copies each. However; what became the "second release" of "Gobbledygook #1" had very little in common with the original release. They are similar in general format, but not so much in content. There is SOME repeating content, but not very much.

Sadly, the second Gobbledygook #1 is common.

  11. Where will the other 400 sketches be sold? I usually pass on such things but I would like to have an Eastman sketch on paper or a comic, doesn't matter :)

These particular ones are 1:50 sketch variant retailer incentives. So for every 50 copies of #1 a store ordered, they will receive 1 of these for free to do with as they so choose. So to get one you basically have to talk to your LCS, or watch ebay in the coming weeks.

  12. Hey Archon, those books look really awesome. I bet they look even better in person!

As an aside, I've bumped into and read many of your posts on different forums, for the past few months, mostly by doing google searches on TMNT items. Your one lucky guy to be such close friends with Kevin. And, as a fellow collector, it pleases me greatly to see that you seem to be the real deal--a true lover of TMNT who isn't whoring out your friendship with Kevin to make some dough. Honestly, the TMNT fanbase is better for having you around. Thanks.

What a fantastic complement! Thank you so much! That really means the world to me that you would say that.

I try my hardest to treat Kevin as a friend first, and a creator second. It's always been important to me that he never feels like I'm trying to get anything out of our relationship aside from his friendship. Has our friendship benefited my collection? I'd obviously be lying if I said no. But I would easily give up all that in exchange for his friendship. And I've certainly never profited monetarily from it.

Thank you again for the kind words!
