I can't really speak for Danny on that topic, but I'm sure he will see this soon enough.

Ok so I know Danny and I announced the transition of his Turtlemania Gold book to me quite some time ago... The deal had been ongoing for the better part of a year. However; i am pleased to say that today it is official. I now have the book in hand.

The funny thing is that there is a strong enough market for counterfeits that the guy probably could have flipped the book a LOOOONG time ago at a decent price had he just been honest. Like when I purchased my counterfeit Gobbledygook 1 and 2. The guy was up front and honest with what they were, and I paid him well for them. No fuss!

i dunno, I tend to want to call wildly_fanciful_statement on this. I want to believe that someone willing to pay that much for the book would know enough to atleast call its authenticity into question. I'm thinking either someone is running a scam on someone here, or the bidder KNOWS its a fake and was willing to pay that price for it.

Incidently, he turned that piece into a print. So if you love it that much, you may be able to find it.

Although to be fair, some of the premium might be due to the fact that it is from Mirage directly. It's weird how people get "star struck" on ebay when an item is being sold by the creator. Incidently, I paid $250 for mine raw earlier this year. Came back an 8.0

Which is kind of a silly assumption to make, since in all of their auctions they TELL YOU that their books are all "VF"

I'm not aware of a counterfeiting of #2...anyone? Not sure why you'd counterfeit that book to be honest. Perhaps you couldn't find information on it because there isn't one? I know of atleast 1 part of Gobbledygook #1 that saw previous print. The "Champ" story (the final story in Gobbledygook #1 by Kevin and his Uncle) was printed in Comix Wave 13 (Published a year before Gobbledygook #1). Comix Wave was Kevin's first publisher, and was an underground magazine. Here are comparison shots of my copies of both books. Comix Wave 13 is always on the left: Also, a few of the images in Gobbledygook #1 were reprinted in "Gallery" sections of it's 1986 counterpart: A few pages of Gobbledygook #2 also found their way into the 1986 Gobbledygook (for these comparison shots, I am using my counterfeit copy of GG2. My original is current framed with the cover art): Incidently, one of the gallery pictures in the 1986 Gobbledygook was not printed in the first "Gooks" but DID see previous print....WAAAAY previous print: This is a copy of the May 1979 issue of Scat Magazine. An underground zine that only circulated locally in Northampton. Legend has it Kevin's discovery of Scat on a bus is actually what prompted Kevin to meet Peter.

50 is indeed correct. As a point of interest, The Turtlemania Specials list Gobbledygook 1 and 2 has having a print run of 150 each. This is however, incorrect. This has been confirmed many times by Kevin.

Well I know for sure theres atleast one more #1 owned by a board member that isn't here yet (I sold it it him). But who knows, maybe some people will come out of the woodwork! If not now, then at least this will hopefully pop up on google or something when they go looking for answers about the book :-) Edit: Oh, and Danny's set. I believe the owner of MikeysTMNT.com owns a set that was won through the 25th anniversary contest...and in going through my msg archive here, one other member contacted me about a set he purchased. He showed me pics. But I'm not going to post pics of someone else's books.

So here are my copies of Gobbledygook #1 and #2. If you click on either cover, it will take you to a gallery for the book. These books were gifted to me by Kevin Eastman after we had made a deal for some pages of art. At the time, I was involved in the creation of a TMNT documentary which was in-part being filmed at Kevin's home; so we decided to make the exchange for the art there. Weeks prior I had inquired if he had any more copies of the books and he told me he would check. I dismissed it after that. When Kevin showed up to the shoot, he had th art in hand...and an extra envelope. When I asked what it was he winked at me. Of course upon opening the envelop my breath was taken away. Here Kevin is signing them : He drew up this sign when I mentioned that nobody is going to believe this happened ;-) Something unique to note about my #1 is that it is an error copy. There are a number of pages that appear twice (these pages are Alpha-Numerically noted in the gallery). So far this seems to be the only known book to contain this error, and I am on the hunt for it's possible sister. So if you have a copy that is missing the pages I have doubles of, please let me know! It's also worth mentioning that Kevin gifted me the cover art for Gobbledygook #2 after doing me the honor of being my Best Man in October of this year. Howdy howdy! I've been wanting to start a Gobbledygook #1 and/or #2 Club thread for quite some time! This thread is for owners to display and discuss their copies of the books. Personally, I'm most excited about this thread as a way to see how many of the books we can actually account for. This will also be a great thread for people to come to if they have questions about copies they may have, as they are very easily reproduced, and thew best people to verify authenticity on this particular books, are those that already own them.
