  1. I'm being told that the rust is more than I understood. Maybe the book has fuzzy eyebrows.
  2. Thanks guys! I don't know that I could have chosen a better representative for the run.
  3. By all accounts the rust on the staples previously was very minimal. Early on CGC was much more liberal with the use of label notes and stricter with the PQ. Even today, you can resubmit a book and get the label notes removed. This doesn't mean the staples were cleaned or replaced.
  4. The Ike isn't particularly hard to find. I can't make sense of that one.
  5. Yeah. There isn't a shortage of people willing to help with the book. I'd love to see @rob_react take it on. At least it would get done.
  6. Bob, what are some reasons/occasions when you have declined to sell to a buyer?
  7. Remember all of the Sparkle City auctions that people were talking about then? I wish I would have submitted my whole collection at that time.
  8. My mistake then, I thought you took over once Mark stepped down.
  9. Sold by known boardie, won by known boardie, case closed.
  10. Another thing to consider in all of this: It's pretty easy to call a 9.4 or a 1.0. The 4.0-7.5 range is much tougher and you'll find a lot more variation in opinion there. I'd be curious to see what a comparison would show between a handful of 9.0+ books and I suspect that would be a more accurate indicator of differences between the two companies. That being said, when West was the head grader at CGC their grades got really soft, so I think there's a reason for softness that we might all have expected.
  11. IMO, CGC is paranoid about glue and will call it when it's debatable.
  12. The later Crowleys are actually quite nice. The early GA stuff is typically faded, dull, and tanned.
  13. Wow! When that's your only copy you don't need another.
