  1. By definition, the staple has to be pressed into the book to staple it together. I've seen countless unpressed books from all eras where the staple is recessed. If you haven't seen that, then you simply haven't been looking.
  2. It's also very presumptive to assume that every book that's not 9.8 was damaged by pressing. I mean, these are 70-80 years old. Most of them didn't make it to the newsstand in 9.8.
  3. To be fair you're making an assumption here. You have no idea what the staples on that book looked like prior to it being pressed. I've been very vocal here about my disdain for the way that CCS seems to pop staples, but without seeing before and after pictures here I don't know that I'm willing to be as adamant as you are that this is caused by CCS.
  4. My friend's mom read steamy romance novels as a kid and that's where I heard the term "purple headed warrior"
  5. Not only that, but you can adjust the intensity of the picture at the top of it. Everyone complaining about how intense the pictures are simply hasn't bothered to look at them.
  6. I need to see it in person to confirm. Just send it over, I promise I'll send it back...
  7. Exactly. I hope that purchase made the buyer happy. Who am I to judge them for what they bought?
  8. I'm just going to sue heritage and let my attorneys get the info in discovery and explain it to me.
  9. I think that's the main issue. I don't know how attorneys read this stuff. I get distracted after half a sentence.
  10. Yeesh. If I read this correctly Hughes defaulted on over a half a million dollar deal with HA. Then when HA tried to get what was owed to them from what Hughes had promised, turns out he owed that to MPH. Then MPH and HA went to court to figure out which of them got to keep proceeds from this inventory? Hughes was just robbing peter to pay paul? And then Hughes has the gall to say that HA didn't pay him when he defaulted on $600K to them??? Is that correct?
  11. If I had a copy and someone offered me $30K for it I'd sell it in a heartbeat.
  12. We all create artificial scarcity to justify our purchases. Higher graded, highest graded, white pages only, variant cover, I only want the OA, etc. It all boils down to buying what you want and what you enjoy (part of which is the thrill of the hunt). For a book like this, as silly as I think it is, I bet the buyer is just over the moon to have it. And good for them.
  13. That's because all of their videos are focused on promoting Vinny, rather than the business.
  14. The family could have seen sales from both, but got turned off by CC's janky amateur website.
  15. Yeah, and Bill Hughes doesn't exactly have a sterling reputation.
  16. I think if this had any merit it would be in court instead of a D-level complaint website.
  17. This one was my top want of this round from the minute I saw it posted. I would have gladly paid less for it.
  18. They have as much merit as real prophets. It's just strange to me that the discussion here is almost exclusively on the value of the books, and not the books themselves.
  19. You guys focusing on turning a profit are silly.
