  1. Always outstanding customer service. Best of luck guys.
  2. I'll speak extra nice & honest to you if you want to buy my stuff at 2 grades higher than CGC.
  3. Agreed. In this age it's naive. And all the more reason to name it something better than "The Promise Collection". That name just begs you to ask, "tell me more?"
  4. Mamboland... what if it was that awful Mambo #5 song. Then you'd have to ditch the gal.
  5. It shouldn't be hard to find, but it's not the same as discussed in the movie. That was all made up.
  6. This concept of "I'm a true collector and you're not" really needs to die a sad whimpering death. Just because someone doesn't collect exactly the same way you did doesn't mean they're not a "true collector". I'd love to hear anyone give me a definition of what a "true collector" is. The only people I really hear using this are people who had the good fortune to buy comics back when they were cheap and now gripe about others paying current market value. I see new collectors coming in with vigor and excitement to learn about the hobby and grumpy old men person_without_enough_empathying and taking a dump on their enthusiasm and choices. If that's what it takes to be a "true collector" then count me out. I'll be over in the corner enjoying my comics and hobby.
  7. Where's Ken White when you need him.
  8. I don't know. You can't grade from a scan.
  9. 1) the tearing at the staple on the second copy is much greater. 2) sun shadows may be down the list of defects you don't like, but the discussion is about CGC grading, not what we all prefer individually. Shadows have been well established as largely overlooked by CGC since its inception. Stains have been hammered by CGC since its inception. None of this is new. It's one thing to gripe about your preferences, it's another to be surprised that these defects are treated the way they are when it's happened literally thousands of times over decades.
  10. I would be happy to sell you all the books you want with back cover defects and price them off the front cover. Send me a list of what you want. If you don't mind missing interior pages then I can really get you some nice looking books. For those I'd even do half of NM price. A steal considering only a fraction of the book is missing.
  11. I think it's just about a perfect Leyendecker. Not as great as the boy scout bond poster, but a brilliant example of his impressionist-esque brushwork. I can totally see your point, but I find it a really striking image.
  12. The second copy with the big stains on the back cover and tear at the staple is probably a 7.0 or 7.5. Can you not see those defects? I mean it's pretty clear which is the nicer copy, although the second one looks great before you turn it over. But you can't just ignore glaring defects.
  13. Within the past few months there were threads getting locked down for people saying that CGC was grading too tight. More likely what you're seeing right now is inexperienced graders being brought in from the modern side to grade vintage books.
  14. What an awfully judgemental statement.
  15. How do you know none of them are under graded? You've got a million posts saying that there's no difference between a 9.6, 9.8, and 9.9. So many of the books in this collection are in that range, how can you say that they aren't under graded?
  16. Yeah, I mean the guy can just lay the blade on its side.
  17. Love the perspective on this one.
  18. First two issues of this title. I think the artist for the first was painting this in an opium den. The more you look at it the crazier it seems.
  19. I'm sure there are plenty of people building a war chest to get books. But I'm more concerned about the people who don't need to liquidate assets to buy books. You're going to see some bloodbaths.
  20. This link shows several of the alterations that Burgos did to Maneely and Everett covers for Atlas. The unedited cover can, on occasion, be found on a foreign edition so you can see the difference between the two. Although some cases appear to be done for code reasons, often it just looks like Burgos was doodling on these covers while he was on the phone. I can't see why he would make the alterations. The Timely-Atlas facebook group has new additions from time to time as they're discovered. http://timely-atlas-comics.blogspot.com/2016/10/atlas-errata-cover-alterations-and.html
  21. When I order from them I expect it to take a month. It's ridiculous, but that's their MO. Clink used to be slow also, but they cleaned their act up and are now blazing fast on the turnaround. Not sure why metro/cc can't get their act together.
