I get the sense that Jack was like the guy I knew who drew the parrot for Polly-O mozzarella. His name was Jimmy, but his real name was Vincenzo. When he came here and signed up for school, they asked for his name. His mom responded “cenzin’” (chinzeen), which is heavy neopolitan dialect for “Vinny.” The guy from the school goes “Jimmy?” And his mom goes “yeah, go to school.” He was pissed they paid him in cold cuts for the parrot drawing, but didn’t have an identity crisis about his name 🤣.

I mean, to be real, you're not wrong! Someone bought Dr Xs slabbed #57 and I was like "THANK GOD I DON'T NEED TO BUY A 3RD COPY OF THAT." I'm an unrepentant ho for that issue (and like 95 others under issue #100).

I'm very, very happy with this casting (I don't know much about Vanessa Kirby, but have heard good things). My current pick for Doom would be Matthew Rhys. He's the right age, not a body builder type, can be charming but there's this darkness that's always underneath it all and when he flips it's absolutely terrifying. And if anyone can emote only with his eyes, it's him. I like Bardem for Galactus, but also think they might be picking him because they were like "who has a gigantic head?" I have no pick for surfer yet. Who're yours for the ancillary characters?

Once again, I'm wowed by the generosity of this community. Thanks @Math Teacher and @paqart for your input. And thanks @MattTheDuck for taking a break from beating me to the punch on every FF book in a sales thread to offer advice as well

WHOA! Congrats! That is a beauty! PS has anyone here published a guide or rig setup for shooting slabs? I can't ever seem to get a good pic.

The more I reread this run, the more I can literally find places where it's like Stan is turning the page and seeing the artwork and just having his characters react at the same time he is as he goes along. A lot of the clumsiness in some of these issues I think comes from that. The last one that struck me is the first panel of page 18 of FF 58. It's like such an awkward way to start the page verbally, and it feels like Jack's intention for the pacing was not something where Reed is telling Wyatt not to shoot and he can't tell why even though there's his best friend on fire in between him and the target.

I’ve got most of these, personally, was hoping your 72 was gonna be high grade (but really finding a nice 5.0 is even more rare!), but they’re gorgeous! -

Another awesome juggy ish. The same seller has a #13 and #32, similarly handsome copies. They’re fairly priced, but not as good a deal as this one. Am I dumb not to pick them up? -

Aww, thanks! This was a heritage auction and it was a purple label. I learned a while back that purple labels are like the Bill Hicks bit about surgeon general warnings on cigarettes: just pick which one you want. “Low birth weight? That’s my brand!” 🤣 When I saw this one said “Jack Kirby written on page 1 in ink,” I knew it had to be mine -

Amen to that. I had the biggest book I've ever owned with them just come back (the Hulk 181 I listed here), and was like "if that thing is stuck in QC purgatory for more than a day, I'm gonna start asking for proof of life daily" -

I love in #57 where Doom sends Surfer an invite to his castle and Surfer is like "OOH A PARTY!" like he's Bugs Bunny going for a ride with Mugsy. What a maroon -

Can't wait! I hope I didn't use up all my luck hitting refresh at just the right moment to snag your copy of 49. Did you end up listing the 48 and 52 in the last group? If not, are they coming in this one? -

I scored my forever copy of FF 4 which I've come to realize is my #1 grail, and it had a secret on page 1
