  1. Thx @waynemel - figured I'd try the new texting support directly feature, and happy to say it worked as advertised! Got a response within a couple minutes and resolved the issue in a few more.
  2. Maybe it's just too early to see the con in the Submission page..? https://retro-toycon.com/guests/ Thx!
  3. Perfect - Thank you! The only sig I found of his on eBay was one on some original art - apparently I didn't look in the right place
  4. Hi - I'm planning on getting a few books signed by Sebastian Fiumara at NYCC, but he usually signs his art with a symbol and not his name - curious as to how would this be translated in the CGC label - 'Symbol by Sebastian Fiumara'? 'Signed and symbol by Sebastian Fiumara'? 'Marked in ink by Sebastian Fiumara'? Any one have an example of a book where the artist signs with something besides his actual signature..?
  5. Hey @MattM CS - I've sent 2 emails directly to submissions@ - one after we got back from vacation ~8/15, and one yesterday - to remove the ship hold, but I'm not sure either were read - I currently have 7 submissions that are in the QC stage and have been for over 2 weeks. Can you see if the ship hold is still active? thx (tbh I've had quite a few mechanical errors, so if the QC time is now taking longer and the outcome is less / no ME's, totally fine with me!)
  6. Thx all - that's about what I was expecting - hoping for at least an 8.5, but I think 8.0 is probably the right call. I'll update the thread if/when I get it graded.
  7. I thought you were asking why someone would get a book slabbed - clearly there is a process, and that process can be expensive (I don't know that 'suffer' is the word I'd choose) - but I wouldn't think of it as 'fins for your car' - I'd think of it more like music - some people like some artists, others can't possibly understand the appeal. Each to his own: some people are just going to put spoilers on their Chevy.
  8. Pressed - seems to be in great shape minus the spine ticks:
  9. I've slabbed some SA keys, and I've slabbed modern books simply because I like the cover art, and I have other keys that I have no plans on slabbing. Per your example @BA773, not only are there slabbed Batman 504s, there are signed slabbed 504s - so clearly this book means something to someone, key or not. To flip your question: There are also thousands of non-slabbed keys; they're keys, why wouldn't those be slabbed...? Afaik, there are no rules in this game: Anyone can slab or not slab any book for any reason they like, and shouldn't need to defend themselves or be called stupid for it. As to why some people would slab a non-key book, all of the reasons @SOTIcollector mentions and 1000 more; but: imho, it's none of my business - am I personally interested in buying a signed copy of Batman 504? Not at all, but someone else might be.
  10. I just noticed that there signature and remarque options for Adam Kubert & Larry Hama in the Private Signing dropdown: but I don't see any info for that signing on the Events page: https://www.cgccomics.com/submit/events/ Any more info on this signing? (Submission date, etc)
  11. FYI, BC still won't sign Dynamite books - I had no idea, and submitted 2 through a facilitator for a recent con and he didn't sign either. Really nice virgin AoD covers too : /

  13. You do you; but honestly my eyes aren't what they used to be and I have a hard time actually reading comics unless the light / contrast is really good, and I mostly collect for the cover art. That said, if there is a book I want to actually read, I'll find a digital version so I don't have to hold the actual book out at arms length in order to read the tiny print. I also don't tape the backs of the bags - I'm way too clumsy to not accidentally connect the tape to the actual book & damage it. (hmm... maybe this isn't the hobby for me... )
  14. A couple from the Mandalorian side... thx to @DELTA 62 for facilitating!
  15. Mandalorian themed... Kudos to @DELTA 62 for the facilitation!
  16. I would request a refund on the cost of grading, as well as the full estimated value of the book when you submitted it. This seems waaay outside the spec of 'wear and tear during grading' or whatever you agree to in the submission. Curious to see if the cover was torn before it even got to the grading stage: "Well, look at this, this sure is a great copy of Jungle Comics, gosh, this might even be like a 5 or 6! OOPS I RIPPED IT IT'S A 2 SLAB IT"
  17. Dazzler #16 - Enchantress - Bill Sienkiewicz Cover (Slight curve at bottom due to improper storage) 2 copies for $2.00 2x Classic X-Men #8 - Arthur Adams Cover — NM — $1.00
