  1. The book has obviously been expensive for years. I just feel bad for the fence sitters/speculators/bandwagon collectors who start panic buying now that they think it is going to become even more expensive. Which it will. -J. I was not justifying or mocking the buyers action, just thinking the market is probably as healthy as it ever was I remember when this book was something like $140 NM in Overstreet. (a few years before grading companies were around) My LCS at that time knew I had it in my Spidey collection and would try to get me to sell it to him almost every time I went in. Held on to it, but not the same way as the guy in Coyote Ugly who apparently needs to learn how to handle his books: (not my video)
  2. Got Hiro from the main character, Hiro Protagonist in Neal Stephenson's book; Snow Crash. Great book that I read in the mid-nighties and when I got online (metaverse) later that decade I started using this on AOL and various forums, etc. Here's a link to a Snow Crash summary. My avatar of the moment is Peter meeting MJ or actually meeting her face to face for the first time. Aren't we all really just looking for our MJ!
  3. I caught that and I think the show is great, but that off handed remark cemented it for me. The writers are smart and know the characters and their history and throw in remarks that the long time fans will pick up on. One other that I noticed is that the office across the hall from them is Atlas Investments and was using a variation of the Atlas Comics logo on the door.
  4. Top notch seller!! Great communication, secure packing, super fast shipping. An all around great and smooth deal! Thanks!
  5. Make that 46, I want to see what silly price someone is willing to pay for it. +1- 47. Does ebay HA charge a buyers premium like their site auctions? Can't see how they could, so do they inflate the starting bid to cover it?
  6. One of my favorites and the only one I have in my collection.
  7. A photo that I found in my Uncles belongings after he passed. This was taken in the 40s in the Clinton MA area. I had posted this at least a year ago, but not sure if it was in this thread and can't find it in my past posts? Here's the original: I shopped in the comics and magazines.
  8. Sleepwalker!!! Current @ $10.50 with 9 bids http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sleepwalker-1-Set-to-appear-in-NEW-Fantastic-Four-movie-/391034713677?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item5b0b7c364d Sold listing - $15.50 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sleepwalker-1-NM-1991-Marvel-Excellent-High-Grade-condition-L-K-/151561062631?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item2349be48e7
  9. I understand that. I know that comic collectors have different tastes and collecting focuses. Not trying to smack on whoever bought the book (or derail this thread). My comments and surprise on this was that I've read more than once that this is a less expensive way to fill a key issue hole in a collection now that the actual books / key issues are getting way too expensive for a lot of collectors. If someone is going to pay that much to fill a key issue hole in a collection, then why not spend that kind of $$$ on a nice mid-grade of the actual issue. IMHO is the better buy in the long run than the reprint, but if someone is focusing on collecting 9.8s of Marvel Tales (or other reprint titles) then great!
  10. This is insane IMO! Not sure what the accepted offer was on this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Marvel-Tales-106-CGC-9-8-1st-App-of-the-Punisher-Reprints-ASM-129-/111531669252?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item19f7ce3704 Guessing it must have been somewhere within $100.00 or less of the asking price. Why? Why? Spend that much on a reprint when you could get the real one for this: (not my auction) $250.00 Seriously? $250.00?! Spend another $50 and someone could get this:(not my auction) http://www.ebay.com/itm/THE-AMAZING-SPIDER-MAN-129-Feb-1974-Marvel-1ST-PUNISHER-NICE-MID-GRADE-/251787285903?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item3a9fb1158f&rmvSB=true

  12. Would think that Doctor Strange 169 would be the book to go for instead of Doctor Strange 1. Looks like it can still be had raw in mid-grade for close to what DS 1 is selling for. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Doctor-Strange-169-1968-VG-FN-/391014688791?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item5b0a4aa817
  13. Invincible 110 continues to be somewhat hot. Sold one yesterday for $15.95 with free shipping. Went within 24 hours of listing it.
  14. Here's mine. Detached cover. Had this in the PGM thread about a year back. Got an average 2.0. Had this book for at least 30+ years!! A friend gave it to me in high school. Knew I collected, he didn't. Was in this condition when I got it. Not sure where he ended up, but still got the book!!
  15. Forum name: from the 1992 Neal Stephenson book Snow Crash. The main characters name is Hiro Protagonist. A great book! If you've never read it. It's worth a look.
  16. Bought this on ebay about 15 years ago. Had it on PGM thread. Got an average 6.5/7 grade.
  17. Sal Buscema Spectacular Spider-Man. Great action page!! Reminds me of the old Batman TV series fight sequences - THWOPP! BRAKK! SMAK!! BROKK! KRAK! THUD!!!
  18. Hiro = amazingcomic http://www.ebay.com/sch/amazingcomic/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=
  19. Bought a great Spidey key from Gadzukes. A great book at a great price with super fast shipping and packing! An all around great transaction!! Would not hesitate to buy from him again! Thanks!
  20. The book I purchased arrived exactly as described and shown in pic. Fast shipping and excellent packing! A great transaction! Thanks!
  21. Good job! Thanks! Need to find out what the mag is directly behind her. Can't make it out and it's bugging me! Want to finish that part! Anyone know what mag it is?? What's really cool is that the picture was taken during the United We Stand July 1942 period. You must know that most (all) magazine covers sported the flag. As such, the Smithsonian keeps a website with those so you can quickly scan the magazine in the hope to find that missing mag. I went through them all but didn't find a match though. At the very least, it gives you a list of magazine titles to search in the hope to finding a match. Link to Smithsonian July 1942 Cover search engine Check all the Magazine Subjects and hit go to get the entire gallery. Thanks for the info and the link, Scrooge! I wasn't aware of the United We Stand July 1942 magazine promotion. Knowing that now and looking at the pic. I can see that most of the mags have flag covers and the United We Stand poster in the window. My Uncle Dan in the pic was either on his way to enlist or was all ready in and home on leave. Will have to ask my Aunt when he enlisted. Very interesting info!! Really brings that pic to life!!!
  22. Thanks for all the replies. I've been searching all the Womens mags for 1942, still haven't found it !!
  23. Another store front pic from my Aunts photos. No comics in the window. Looks like there's some on a rack inside on the right, but can't make them out. Check out the great Fawcett Magazine rack! The gentleman in the photo is my Uncle Dan. A great guy! Served as a Seabee in WWII. Passed about 5 years ago at the age of 92! Was active and alert until the end. Hope we're all as lucky!!
  24. Good job! Thanks! Need to find out what the mag is directly behind her. Can't make it out and it's bugging me! Want to finish that part! Anyone know what mag it is??
