  1. Damn! RIP Paul Ruebens! Big Adventure is in my top ten of movie comedies. Written by Paul Ruebens, Dan Hartman and Paul Warhol. Tim Burtons first feature as Director...not a perfect film, but has some brilliant moments. Here's a few: Rebel Pee Wee Amazing Larry Montage of Clips ...and so many more! What's your favorites?
  2. Just saw this on a current sales thread...Link...nice book!
  3. Not good...how will it work for the overall identity of the company? This can't be real! If it is, did they just have one of the staff that wants to be a designer do it?!
  4. Here's the link to the hole punch thread: 3 Ring Binder Hole Punched Comics
  5. I'm in! Got this on the boards a few years ago... Great book! It's a 5.0. Looks better, but the sun fade knocks it down.
  6. Great, thanks! Had to step away, first year doing this and didn't know I had a second pic.
  7. I'll take 8) Avengers lot (first app of Eternal/Avenger Sersi & more) donated by fmaz
  8. Has the link to the ranking form been posted?
  9. Love this book! Got this in a mixed lot of DC & Marvel 20+ years ago. This actually was a double cover, but extra cover wasn't attached because of the square bound spine. Didn't upload the extra cover, should of kept it with the book, but didn't...have it, but need to dig it out... Presents great, but has book length cb crease along left side...have a grade in mind, but wondering what you thought...thanks!
  10. I'm in...Hulk 344 (direct) 345 (newsstand) & 346 (direct) US shipping only...
  11. Love these posters! Don't have any, but am on the hunt to find at a decent price. Like everyone, wish I had grabbed them all back in the day. Surfer is my favorite. The more affordable option is the Third Eye greeting cards. Smaller versions of the posters and believe they were sold at the same time as the posters. Not Third Eye, but I do have this Spidey poster that I got in 1975. Mine is stored away, so pulled this image from the web, but the one I have is in similar condition. It's black light with velvet. Great poster and a classic Spidey pose! . I see reissues of the Marvel Third Eye posters on Ebay. They're 20" x 30" but not sure if they're official reissues and if they're actually black light like the originals. Anyone have one? Also, there are two collected volumes that came out in 2021 and 2022. 14. Steranko! No spine roll on this. Looks like a mis-wrap / cut on back cover...
  15. Found another in the boxes. Not very carefully executed...
  16. Decent mid grade book, but has pencil scribble on Ghost Rider's head that knocks it down...TIA...
  17. This looks decent! I like the old school B&W Universal and Hammer horror / slasher movie look...
  18. Recently found my No-Prize. Got it in '78. Think the letter I sent about a mistake in the comic had something to do with the Marvel Team-Up issue with Saturday Night Live. Not sure exactly what it was about. Think that they had Chevy Chase as one of the cast and I pointed out that he had left. Not a huge thing, but was probably important to me at the time and was surprised to receive the No-Prize. My cousin had an interior design company in LA in the 90s and was doing work for Stan and his wife. I gave him this and a couple of other things to get Stan to sign them. Nice to have and thought it was great that I got an Excelsior! from Stan! Couldn't find a No-Prize thread, but show em if you got em...
  19. The people that I talked with were mostly collectors. A couple of dealers. The child that attended was Noah who's on youtube with Noah's Amazing Reviews channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2aL_AQLVi4WVdivgxkA-ng He and his Dad were sitting a couple seats away from me. They came in from Los Angeles. Friendly and nice people...
  20. Don't know for sure, but would imagine that the grading test winners were talked to about working for CGC. There was an HR rep there that people could talk with. Didn't talk with him myself, but someone I met there did and the rep took his info and encouraged him to apply online. Also, before the grading test we were all told that whoever was interested in working for CGC that this test wasn't the only deciding factor. If you applied and were selected to move forward in the hiring process that there would be a lot more training before you were offered a grader position.
  21. Wanted to update on the seminar from this past weekend. Saturday: At check-in everyone was given a CGC swag bag that consisted of a slab (see the pic of the slab I received), hat, loop, pen & notebook. The day consisted of info about the company, grading processes and a live grading session with Q&A after and during the sessions. There were random trivia / comic question contests during the day with the winner given another swag bag. Didn't get one, so not sure what was in that one. Light breakfast, lunch and snacks were provided both days There was a happy hour at a local bar on Sat. night and was good to hang and talk to attendees and CGC people, who were all friendly and approachable. Sunday: A short recap and a grading test. Broken into 2 groups. With prize money for First, Second, Third and Fourth place. Didn't place, but did ok on the test. Was too harsh on higher grade books. Did well on the mid to lower grades. There was also a raffle with 9.6 & 9.8 slabs given out. Some nice books. The one thing that kind of surprised me was that with the people that I talked with (only about 15 - 20 out of around 100 - 150 total attendees), I asked if they were on the chat boards and only one said yes, but that he recently joined and hadn't posted. The rest weren't even really aware that the chat boards existed. All in all was a good time, informative and well run and was great meeting and just hanging and talking with people about their collections and general comic stuff.
  22. I guess it does make sense to try and keep the attendees and possible candidates for jobs somewhat local. Will update about this and just general info from the seminar after this weekend.
  23. Hope everyone had a great 4th! This is happening this coming weekend. Am I the only one from the boards attending? Guess I'll have my pick of seats!
