  1. I bought the book raw thinking it was in the 2.0 range and sent it to CGC and was "pleasantly surprised" at grade Totally. Gift grade, thank you! I bet you couldn't sell it fast enough at that grade. it didn't sell quickly....but it was 2010. Diff environment then
  2. Now that's an absolutely beautiful looking copy! Any idea why it received a CGC grade of only 7.5 when the book seems to present a lot nicer than that as based upon the front cover? i believe only notes were 1/2" spine split

  4. I say it would be lucky if it got to 41k. While I like the PQ, the silverfish damage on the front cover is quite obtrusive and the book looks fugly to me. back in 2010 I owned 2 of the , at that time, 3 cgc 3.5 copies (the third had lt pages so while I was offered it, I passed ). I sold this one and kept the other bc the silver fish damage really bothered me
  5. Glad you found a nice one. I love mine. You two have the best copies that I'm aware of (and I thought my raw was pretty nice, around 6.0). I only know of 7 copies out there... Jbcomicbox Sacentaur October Mine Centaurman The low grade eBay copy Scrooges friend in IL
  6. Glad you found a nice one. I love mine. when you showed me yours I was like "wow", 2 in a few months, and both nice copies...crazy how this hobby works sometimes
  7. Amazing mystery funnies v1,#4 Here's a copy that for over 10 years I never saw one surface for sale. I was fortunate enough to purchase this from a fellow boardie. And about a month or two later another nice example showed up in the market and was also purchased by a fellow boardie. So after not seeing any copy for almost 10 years all of a sudden two Newly surfaced copies! To me this is definitely one of the rarer centaurs in the hobby.
  8. sold that copy to verzyl in 2010 for 25k. The "silver fish" copy
  9. I remember when 8.0s were selling for 80k and this sat on clink at 50k for what seemed like forever
  10. There are just so many covers that I love in the AMF run, yet I was unable to ever acquire a single sample one of these beautiful books for my collection. Absolutely love the bright color combinations on this particular cover here. the Everett amans, and the arrow funny pages rank high but I suspect amf overall is best /most consistent run of the publisher
  11. Don't think so, but not sure why the numbering started at 5
  12. Amazing mystery funnies v1, #1 While every Centaur collector has their favorite issue or run , this title seems to gather the most interest from collectors of all genres I believe the first issue of this title I ever owned was v1,1 and if I recall correctly it was the Larson copy Bill Everett's first nationally published work in comics was the cover to this issue . There are issues in this run that are every bit as rare and difficult to obtain as any centaur out there So let's begin
  13. I did this con for 10+ years until they moved it from feb/march to may. I really wish it would move back. I miss the opp to have a show close to home in the early (cooler) spring
  14. If my fading memory serves me right, didn't CL have a low grade slightly restored copy that was auctioned off on their site for something like $6,300 or thereabouts approximately 5 years ago? yes. I was underbidder. Any idea what happened to that particular copy as it no longer seems to show up in the CGC census? Did it somehow managed to unrestored itself? not sure
  15. The great end to an Amazing run!!!! another "amazing" run starts tomorrow.

  17. Love it! I don't want the run myself but I do want #22 one day to go with my 26. Can you give your estimation of the number of copies that exist for each issue of Amazing-Man? If I had to place an educated guess I would say there's no more than 15 or 20 copies of amazing man 26 that's out there in the active marketplace, and that might actually be high I've seen many more amazing man 22s so I guess between 30 and 40 maybe ... at a time I could not locate a single copy of issue 26 I owned four copies of issue 22 at once
  18. Amazing man 26 This is the book that actually caused me to give up collecting centaurs back in 2010 or so. The first copy I got, was a coverless copy a friend gave me. Then, a few years ago, a copy appeared on ebay and I was blessed enough to win it. Then 2 years ago, Ted bought a collection that had a copy in it, and I bought that too!. That is this copy, best of the 3
  19. Must have this book. Maybe you'll sell this year. *fingers crossed. I prefer to trade centaurs...but I do have 4 copies right now (well, 3, as I have promised 1 to a friend)...if nothing shows up I need to trade for, I might consider selling one If all 4 of your copies are graded, then maybe you should try and corner the entire market by buying up the fifth and last remaining graded copy left. That way, you can have total complete world domination of the market for A-Man 25 and be able to ask any price that you want at all. These are the 4 I currently have. As mentioned one of the 2.0s is already committed to a friend.

  21. From the CGC census, it looks like there are a total of 5 Universal copies graded so far, with the highest graded being 2 copies at 2.0 Good condition. funny. I own both 2.0s too HOARDER!! but I will happily trade for books I need...so I'm really just accumulating centaur currency!...and one of the 2.0's is eventually going to a friend in need
