  1. Book #2 is Amazing Adventure Funnies #2 This short lived title evolved into Fantoman (which ran 3 more issues, but the first Fantoman is also numbered 2)... Features a short story by Claire Moe.. This was one of the last 20 I needed to complete the publisher, so it is a little more difficult than most
  2. He's gonna watch the Bucks paste the kitties.
  3. it's only fitting that you keep posting in this thread's title steve contributed some of my favorite books To the collection.
  4. OK...here we go....a new year.... first up is Amazing Adventure Funnies #1 Published in June of 1940 Contains multiple Phantom of the Fair stories by Paul Gustavson, a Bill Everett story, Lew Glanzman (Glanz here), and an Air-Sub DX story by Carl Burgos... Not a particularly tough issue to find (this is the 3rd copy I've owned), but not that common either...
  5. very rare from my experience. Value bump is relative to what book and if the sig can be authenticated. It's on a pre robin batman cover. Looks legit and coming from a reputable seller. nice. Depending on which book and grade, some are already so pricey it might not have any tangible value effect.
  6. Well, these shoulda been Centaurs, believe it or not... This is just a crowd pleasin' warm-up for Gator's daily headliners! still love those...remember who is first in line should you decide to part ways with them! Missed bo's post somehow. Thank goodness it's not a comic. Whew!
  7. i would say less than 100 is highly probable. I suspect it's 2-3x rarer
  8. very rare from my experience. Value bump is relative to what book and if the sig can be authenticated.
  9. He's a monster. Don't look directly in his eyes or you'll be lucky to escape with the clothes on your back. I can verify that his monster gaze is not phased by oceans in between. Oceans aside, tomorrow night I will post comic #1....I know you all can hardly wait
  10. its done. A few I'm in need of upgrades but have "an" example of all (also 2 are incomplete I believe) WOW! This is big news! Big Congrats! Can't wait to see them all! Great job! well, it's kind of your fault
  11. While I certainly expect this to be fun, bear in mind it will not be high grade pedigree after hg pedigree posted. Lots of fr/gd to vg coming up with occasional attractive specimen !
  12. My first golden age run I ever attempted was action 1 up (by 1989 I had completed the entire super hero silver age). This was 1990. By 1992 I started batman 1 up. In 1995 my toy import / distribution company (new force) needed a cash injection and I sold my action and batman run (as well as all the gold and silver keys I had) in order to fund my company. By 2004 I had made enough money in the action figure market that I was able to start collecting ga comics again. Started with D.C. Detective 27 up, batman 1 up, superman 1 up, ww 1 up etc. by 2006 I was done (internet , conventions and enough money made it relatively easy). So, after spending a weekend at straw-man's house in 2006 , I decided to expand to timelys. By 2008 I had marvel 1 up, cap 1 up, etc. Worked on fox main titles along the way (weird, science, mystery men, wonderworld, fantastic etc) and discovered that many of the later (somewhat less desirable issues) were "tough" to locate. Internet, conventions and money didn't always get the job done. I found the challenge "exciting " and motivating So, in 2008 I visited centaurmans house and was taken back by the centaur publisher ...not only were these books a serious challenge to collect, but the content was fantastic (Everett, wolverton, Gustafson , biro , mills, Kane, etc etc). Many of the industries artistic pioneers were featured on and between the covers. So that started the centaur fascination... by late 2010 I had about 200 of them In my possession...2 years was usually all it took for me to complete a goal (I remember talking with Michelle Nolan about my catman run...she assumed it had taken me years to complete...nope, took 6 months as a comparison....mentioned I was onto centaurs....she said tell her in 10 years how far id gotten ). not this time. I was still missing more than 20% and had no leads...frustration (patience is not a collecting virtue of mine) set in...i "gave up" basically. Sold about 180 of the 200 ish and kept my favorites. Always regretted selling. But it was too late. I couldn't fix now. Fast forward to late 2012 and Boot contacted me with a nice cache of centaurs he was considering selling ... a plane trip and visit to his house and the bank and l was "back!" Determined this time not to give up I decided I was going to see the run through ...and 4 years later, I pretty much have (there are at least a dozen copies I'd like to upgrade for one reason or another and one is missing bc and one the interior is incomplete), but I've in my mind, have finally accomplished what I didn't before. I owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to a multitude of boardies and collectors and dealers and friends that have assisted me this time around. Many parting with books out of their collections to help me see this to fruition. A big thanks and kudos...not possible without generous help! Stay tuned for each and every issue and what backstory for each (if any) I can recall.
  13. its done. A few I'm in need of upgrades but have "an" example of all (also 2 are incomplete I believe)

  15. seems reasonable...a little tidbit should accompany each issue then
  16. And the digests and one shots and promo will be separate, at the end.
  17. For example, star ranger is issue 1-12, then title is changed to cowboy comics for issue 13&14, then goes to star ranger funnies for issue 15 and vol 2,1-5... So cowboy will actually post between star ranger and star ranger funnies, if that makes sense ?
  18. I have them in alpha numeric order ...so will start with amazing adventures funnies Guess I will try to post full list in the coming days
  19. Hello all... My goal is, starting January 1, to post a centaur (including family books from comic magazine, ultem, Chesler, etc) a day, until I've posted them all....the good , the bad, the ugly and yes a few incomplete place holders ( ) I believe , from a personal collecting standpoint, I'm nearing the end of my active/completist collecting goals (one small title left I'm actively collecting a subset of) So, will detail here and see where the road takes me Edit*** added a little backstory/collecting history on page 3
