  1. Yup, clearly the elite of college football this year. Western Michigan vs. Alabama for the national championship? That's what they all said 2 years ago. Go Buckeyes! no again... jon and greg , that kind of language is NOT tolerated in this thread
  2. Yup, clearly the elite of college football this year. Western Michigan vs. Alabama for the national championship? I wonder if the Gators can shock the college football world??... nah
  3. Let Me just say right now we have no chance to beat Alabama (hey, worked once )
  4. sorry Leroy.... book is already committed to me, right Pete
  5. sold a 4.5 ep last year for 11+, so this seems like a good deal
  6. not as good as round one but overall average They seem to get reasonably good money for their auctions from what I've observed in the way of BA/SA/GA stuff. The key book this time around was the Larson All Star 4. I made a little run at it, but wasn't willing to go all out. Very nice book, though. You are right that even though it seems crazy for someone to consign a book like that to Hake's, the hammer price seemed pretty good for the consignor. I think Rick was referring to his Megos in the previous 2 auctions..am I right? Hakes is a perfect venue for those! yes. Megos. I rarely consign any comics anywhere.

  8. Indeed. Although I think the winner of the 29 will be disappointed if CGC picks up on the trim when he goes for blue. he's leaving as is , for now.
  9. Thanks again for the advice. Already have Batman 18 and 47. Now the search starts for Action 15 and more importantly 23. every title has a few good ones. Ww is 6&7, superman is 14,17 , aa is 61, as has 33,36 etc etc How about Superman 24, 26, 53, Batman 8, 9, Cap 13, 26, 28, 36, Action 58, Adventure 42, 44, Human Torch 23, More Fun 61, 77? Am I on the right track with those? they are all fine examples Are books with classic covers without mainstream superheros good to invest in (ie: Mask 1, 2, Terrific Comics 5, Spirit 22, etc) ? Or are they too obscure and too niche of a market? They have historically done fine. Thanks again for the help! No secret terrific 5 is one of my all time fav books

  11. Gl and flash are probably undervalued in the grand scheme of things, but they might stay undervalued for a long time to come. Naturally there are certain issues I gravitate towards to purchase with intent to resell at some profit margin, but I can't exactly reveal them now, can I

  14. Second tier are not as solid as first tier, and rightfully so Best "investment" books are the high demand books that are still semi affordable to the avg ga collector. action 15,23, bat 18,47, etc
  15. haven't had opp to buy too many 5.0 and above at reasonable prices...and yes, much easier to sell 1.8-4.5 than higher...
  16. Not a big spidey fan but I could do 19K for a nice presenting 4.5 ive sold 3 nice presenting af15 over last couple of months. All at 19+ All were 4.5? yep... and I just bought another 4.5 copy to put back into inventory!

  18. There isn't just one most undervalued per se. Of the 4 you listed , nywf is probably the better "investment" but none of them are great. Mainstream sh books are already at all time highs, so how much higher they can go , is the question.
  19. Now, that's the go to AMF set that I would like to acquire some day! Unfortunately, with prices the way they are it looks like I will never be able to pick up a sample AMF for my Centaur collection. Amazing-Man, Funny Pages, and Funny Picture Stories would be a Yes, but still nothing when it comes to the AMF's. there are many later amf that can be had low 3 figures. Not the "cooler" ones but an example can be had
  20. The quantity and quality has been a trend for a while now. Clearly some folks are cashing out. Election timing or not, it's been happening and will continue. Great time to be a buyer and seller, depending on your perspective. I believe we've been at close to market top for a bit now, though clearly it continues to push upward in many genres One should always enjoy the hobby. Not bunker time yet
