  1. Very well put Paulie. schommy is very articulate, is he not (thumbs u
  2. hello all... I can understand why some folks like restored books and some don't, to each his own, not trying to question that ...I guess my question was "why was tec 1 any less "cool" because it has some restoration"...I didn't mean why one likes restored and why one doesn't...I meant, the comic is the comic, irregardless of someone adding restoration to it...its "coolness" factor should not be affected at all...but, I wanted the black hand to clarify for me, where he was coming from, and he did, and I thank him...to him, it was "cool" that a book could survive looking that nice for so long...he was not saying tec 1 was "less" cool than it is, just less cool that it couldn't survive in as nice of shape...I can dig that! peace
  3. just for a different perspective (I love restored books, so I don't "get it" with the negativity to them), why is it any less cool that is has some restoration?
  4. 2 for 2...but don't forget DC (just don't post them here, post them in the Cigar thread
  5. Done. And I am sure you would be happy to provide examples to them for demonstration purposes. On loan of course. I bet a fairly accurate system could be determined/established...
  6. Done. And I am sure you would be happy to provide examples to them for demonstration purposes. On loan of course. Hey Bill, if this scale existed now ( God forbid ), where do you think your previous Tec 1 would have placed? mod/ext 7?
  7. slight 1 ..a single restorative procedure or cleaned slight 2...a few restorative procedures (couple spots of c/t, etc) slight/mod 3 (bindary chip fill, etc) mod 4 mod 5 mod 6 mod/ext 7 ext 8 (piece replacement, etc) ext 9 (heavy piece replacement, etc) ext 10 (franken book)
  8. boy, just think the splash he'd make if his next post was a red raven 2. I knew somebody was going to do that!!! (thumbs u
  9. boy, just think the splash he'd make if his next post was a red raven 2.
  10. Correct. The "Extensive" restoration was a quarter sized piece replacement. (thumbs u So, the only restoration done on that book was a quarter size piece replacement....that all? No, but the rest of the work was minor. Very nice book, beautiful pages. Extensive was just a bit heavy handed for the book in our view. But, since there are only three categories, I guess the options are so limited that it hurt the book's chances of getting a moderate. I agree...that is why bill and I (and others) agree we need to fine tune the restoration designations...as collectors of restored books, it is just something that needs to be address...an evolution, if you will, in the way they are assessed... when does moderate, become mod/ext, become ext...at what line do we draw and say 1 2 or 3?
  11. I think I got to see the MH mini run last year....good stuff
  12. Correct. The "Extensive" restoration was a quarter sized piece replacement. (thumbs u
  13. A Timely guy! (thumbs u Centaur before Timely (thumbs u Michael Jordan played college ball before the NBA. Mickey Mantle had a little minor league experience. The Quarrymen had a few gigs before hitting the big time as the Beatles. We all gotta start somewhere. I thought you started at the top?
  14. tec 1 easy...I got to examine that book first hand, preslabbing...and here is a perfect example where "ext" is not a true appraisal of the book...it is a magnificant copy, and could have just as easily been moderate designated... and, it looks so nice for the money!
  15. BZ is bad news with his nasty habit of posting only things I need like Tarzan hardcovers, pulp paintings, Weird Tales pulps, movie posters, Centaur comics, DC Comics, Timely comics, Arkham house press hardcovers... I demand a congressional investigation search warrant, raid and SEIZURE can be the only acceptable result!
  16. Full run of Daring and Mystic belonging to gator will be posted in one month not with the books I am looking at in the clink, comicconnect and heritage auctions...but by summer, easy
  17. Rick, ever thought of keeping a list of what you DON'T collect? Shorter list and you just have to make the list once and then cross off the stuff you start collecting
  18. A Timely guy! (thumbs u Centaur before Timely (thumbs u
