  1. hello all... Updating my "want to own one day" grail list... Action 1 All American 16 Whiz 1 Superman 1 More Fun 52 rick
  2. hello all... I have to say the action, only because that is one BIG cash register rick
  3. Hey Rick, Very nice pickup on the Tec 36. It was a tough decision for me too to let it go, but I had to since I am pursuing a 31. I'm glad that one of us picked it up. It certainly looks great from the picture. I guess at that time, I was going more on the pedigree status rather than the book itself because I've never owned one until now or should I say soon (Just picked up the Det. #50 Crippen Copy at Comiclink). So im excited to get that in the mail soon. And thanks for offering it to me first when you get an unrestored copy. I just have to do things one step at a time. Brian P.S. You have an adorable son hello all... thanks Brian...just goes to show everyone, that good karma exists...Brian and I had both emailed the seller of the tec 36 the exact same offer, without either of us knowing about it...just happened that in one of our email exchanges, Brian mentioned to me he was looking at it, and I responded that I too had been looking at it...however, I think all will agree, persuing a 31 is more "iconic" than the 36, so Brian bowed out and let me get the book to fill the hole in my run, but when/if he is ready for it, it is his for cost (since that is what he would have gotten it for anyway, had I not of bought).... Admittedly, I didn't initially know it was the CA copy until Brian told me (I just knew it was a 36), so that helped me validate the higher sales price (it was about $500 more than I would normally pay, but what the heck).... I am definitely starting my son early on the GA bats...he asks me everyday if I have gotten him a "new batman comic book"... rick
  4. hello all... Dark Knight and I were looking at this copy...we both agreed it was priced "too high", but I went ahead and snagged to fill the "hole" in my collection. It does have the distinction of being the Cosmic Aeroplane copy, with a spine split seal. Hopefully, this is just a temp addition (it is yours when you are ready Brian) until I can find another copy (although, this one is really nice when you have it in person)... rick
  5. hello all... absolutely a WONDERFUL run of pre bat tec's..... rick
  6. hello all... seeing some of the later tec's might inspire me to go beyond 53...keep them coming! rick
  7. hello all... ahhh....but do you know why 48 has the short ear logo? that was used in 54 on for a while? rick
  8. hello all... sounds like jhp and I are on the same page...I am trying to finish a batman run for a customer (upgrading where I can), and pick up tecs for me...I stopped at the last of the long eared logo'd tecs (53), but might work backwards to 1, just for the "fun of it"....on a side note, does anyone know why issue 48 has the short ear logo? rick
  9. Can I have her number???.. Looks like #14 to me. Jack happy to help
  10. hello all.. congrats action1kid... this book was available after the Heritage August auction at $1595?, i believe (might have been a little more, but I remember it was priced attractively), as a "buy it now"...I passed on it because of the chunk missing under the riddler's foot (as someone pointed out)...but, a desirable book, none the less... rick
  11. hello all... about 6 months ago, I was rummaging through some old boxes in the back of our warehouse, and found an old videotape...on this tape, circa 1992 through 1995 (this was before scanning technology was affordable), was my action 1-100, and my batman 1-300 run (put together from 88 to 95) that I had videotaped for insurance purposes...I took the tape to my office, and viewed it with my best customer, and he got all "excited" over the bat run ,and wondered what it would take to put one together..problem is, my customer can only spend about $2-3K a month, so we struck a deal that for a small percentage, i would "fund" the purchases as books in his criteria became available, and he is making time payments...once paid in full, the books are his, but until that time, technically they are mine, and I am having all the fun of putting the run together!..brings back memories (SD from 92 to 94, Tropic Comics, Metro in the pre Vincent days, Past Present and Future in WPB-where I got the action 1), and even the 225 I bought at a little ole store in New Orleans rick
  12. Now THAT'S impressive - a true Batfan addict. All Blue labels, too (well done, sir). STEVE (make mine Larson) hello all... thanks...while I personally love restored books that have great page quality and look great, my customer is not a fan of restoration, and he only wants unrestored, 5.5 or better (with 1 and 2 being the exceptions)...we had a beautiful # 7, but it came back from cgc with color touch, so our 1-30 run I thought I had completed, now has a hole in.... Brian, when you are ready, lmk ! rick
  13. hello all... thought I would add some bats ....technically this bat run I am putting together will belong to my best customer/friend, but until he pays me for them, they are mine ...will redo the tec shot when I can line up 27-53 in one shot rick
  14. hello all.. both of these shots are in the Detective thread, but I wanted to get them together, and give this thread a little bump... rick
  15. hello all... I thank Bob for posting here...as mentioned, not only am I not an expert on restoration detection, I am not even a novice , so I will defer to the experts and post results here! thanks rick
  16. If that's the Detective 31 that Bob had earlier this year, it has quite a bit of work done to it. I looked at it in person at WonderCon earlier this year. Still, a very nice looking book though. hello all... The Tec 31 is a "pending" purchase from Bob for a customer of ours...I am sending the book to be inspected, and based on Matt Nelson's screening of the amount of Restoration, will determine final sale. I am no expert, so I am going to let the expert determine. Bob disclosed that there was slight color touch to the back cover, and that was all he could determine had been done to it. My customer for the book is aware of conditions surrounding the book, so hopefully all will be good. thanks rick
  17. hello all... some recent additions this week...unfortunately, 2 of them won't be with me long (the 31 is for a customer and one of the #30's I hope to use in a future trade)... want to thank Jay from the boards here (http://www.jkcomics.homestead.com/) for the great #30 and 40 tec's (also got a sweet bat 37 from him) and the raw 43 and 30 are from the Dentist's ebay auctions last week....the 31 is from Robert on the boards (www.blbcomics.com), but is likely heading to a friend/customer of mine... rick
  18. hello all... as most know, my first love is Detective comics, so I am trying to keep this thread alive with recent aquisitions....once I have all books in my possession (27-53) , I will post all in a nice group shot...but for now, one by one rick
  19. hello all... my "updated" list (after all, these are likely on all GA collectors lists)... Action 1 Detective 1 Superman 1 Marvel Comics 1 Captain America 1.... (reminds me of that tv commercial for cell phones) rick
  20. hello all... this one arrived in the mail today... getting closer to completion! rick
  21. hello all... good news ...you mean you are selling me your unrestored, 9.9 Action 1 for our agreed upon price...woo hoo! rick edit: I guess since this is a detective thread, I should have said your 9.9 Tec 27 for the original cover price
  22. hello all.. thanks bill...at least 4 of those are on my "list"...great books, thanks for sharing! rick
  23. hello all... figured would be nice to see another one on this page.. rick
  24. hello all... It is so great to see all these early Tec collectors and their books!.... keep on posting! rick
