Real comic men all sleep with their books.
Personally the boxes are just on a drawer behind my bed, if I'm somnambulist without knowing it i probably have read more comics than i think... and it could maybe explain all these weird dreams

Ok... so few weeks ago i posted on the "moderns are heating up on ebay" thread a final auction about a batman run sold by neatstuffcollectibles. Yesterday on ebay i seen exactly the same run... and after searching on past sale i seen that they already had sold exactly this same one 3 times during the last month!
At the beggining i tought it was just me who was a bit susceptible but honnestly considering the frequency of these sales and also the fact that is happen on many other lots... im start to think that there's shenanigans behind this... does neatstuffcollectibles charge exorbitant reserves prices on their items? Or would you told me that Ebay is such a poor place that bidders never paid their items? Or maybe neatstuffcollectibles have so much stock that they could assemble exactly the same lots many times in a month...?
What do you think?

Huh... did i missed something?
I mean its obviously the most valueless part of the whole batman modern run (400-700~) there is not even 1 issue over 10$, dont speak me about 497 LOL... 95% of this stuff is in the dollar bins...
I often follow the neatstuffcollectibles.com auctions, it comforts me in the fact that the seller reputation is a great factor on the price that people are ready to pay for books...
What is the masquerade behind neatstuffcollectibles? 2 weeks later the exact same lot appear on auction again... and im pretty sure to already have seen these kind of phenomenon on their page.

The Phantom seems to be more popular “down under” than anywhere else in the world. Seems like every time I have been there, I have seen quite a few. Have the older ones pretty much dried up there now?
Sorry to be so low but what would you mean in your last sentance, i dont get what it mean...

An other interesting point is to know if there are some keys issues in this series? We dont really hear of that, except the first issue which is an obviousness. it not seems to be some important facts or something else...
As i know his opposition is relatively common and random and the serie is more appreciated by the quality of writing and art rather than the popularity of the Lore. So it explain a part of it i guess.
Opinion?

Ok, if you want to argue is RIGHT NOW!

Doesn't seem to make much sense to me to have those two characters doing that in a packed stadium.
Looks more like a commission piece.
The art itself isn't that bad at all.
Yes i agree on this point only its even good.

I like older books but the ones I can afford are usually in lower grades, where you'll occasionally find rust on staples. It's not an issue for me in the grades I buy. I just accept and enjoy books as they are now.
Well as i said im not preocuppated by how it looks... its more about if it could spread on the book with the time? Did you seen a difference on your books trough the years? I tought about color rub or something like that caused by the rust...

Many of the comics I bought from a dealer in the '70s came from the collection of someone who thought it was a good idea to protect his books by taping up all 4 sides.
Here is an example:
So my question is: how does this book grade with the tape? Let's say if it would have been a 5 otherwise, does it automatically go down to 2, or what? Even though it is not worth grading by CGC if I were to try to sell it I would have to know what level to aim at.
I am angry at that dealer who saw a good opportunity to unload these books at full price.
Never seen it before

How is that affect the visual of a book? If i remember right it s the kind of diffect who could downgrade the book with age, i say that because people speak of rust migration, so is it to avoid? Will the book is going to rotten with time? Or is it not a terrible thing?
I was only buying modern until now so sorry for this newbie question im not used to low grade for the moment...

Well, $2.25 shipped for mid-grade copies is more than I'd want to pay for that run, but you're right, we are spoiled collecting here in North America!
So I'm guessing that's a pretty good deal for you considering other buying options. Also, I'm assuming you like the idea of getting a big stack at once instead of the "thrill of the hunt" chasing down individual books over time, always looking for the best price. If that's you, then I'd say go for it. You might not have an equivalent opportunity to get so many at once.
Do you know other collectors of American comics in the EU? If so, selling the duplicates becomes interesting, as you could undercut most eBay sellers by not having as high a shipping cost for your European buyers. And you're probably aware some people are willing to pay more for the newsstand versions, although I think that is generally a high-grade phenomenon.
Good Luck!
Thanks for the effort of making this detailed reply! yes i know few of them, prices are really different here, it explain my views of the prices and why people from US often take me for an insufficiently_thoughtful_person on the forum about newsstand higher price... its only a real fact for the moderns, as i know the ratio was at opposite when it started, in the early 80s newsstands were more common than direct.

I'm a big JLA fan, but assuming we're talking about mid-grade books, $3 each works for #95-120 or so, but is too steep for most of what comes later. Particularly after #200, those books I would expect the seller to throw in for free to close the deal. Shipping of course will be a concern. I'm confident you could piece together a similar run for much less than an average $3 per book, but shipping costs to Europe might mean you wind up spending more with multiple sellers, multiple shipments.
When i give an ammount in a disscusion its always including the shipping cost, without it the books are under 2 each...
And in fact i not totally revealed what i could get...
I based the average price on only the issues that im gonna keep for me, but in reality there is 2 point:
1.The run is complete but i collect only Direct edition when i have the choice and DC started to get both editions after JLA 183 (newsies and direct) and in the lot many of the books after this are newsies, is why the lot will not be complete for me... yeah i know it could look like mad...
2. Is there also a tons of duplicates, mostly in the early books.
So in reality if i just speak of the price for the overall it comes down to 2.25 per books shipping include. But im not really expect to could succesfully sell these books that im not gonna keep, however even if it took years it could refund a part of the lot... we re talk about 188 books and i will keep 135 of them.
So maybe it changes your opinion...
And as you said well, many sellers, many shipments...
It s always worked for me to buy in bulk for saving money, its really different to live in Europe comparated to US, i dont get some dollar bins here

I'm just curious (so don't feel compelled to respond) ......
I lived in Germany as a young man. I married a German woman and have many good friends who were born and raised in Germany or Switzerland. They all have an excellent command of English (as it's a language formally taught/studied in school). Are you native Swiss, or did you immigrate to Switzerland from another country?
Born in Switzerland, however from the french part which is known as having a lower level of english, i had english for only 3 years at school and it was not really helping to get suffisant knowledge, and after school my only exposition to this language was to communicate with few friends and read and hear or watching stuffs...
