  1. OK let's begin the riddle contest!

We start today with an iconic issue, there is one panel in it which is absolutely famous and almost everyone already seen it in his life I guess, it would be too easy to show it... so you have to find the book with the splash page as only clue, I also hiden the title.

Let's see if you did your readers homework! lol

    Good luck!20240723_085039.thumb.jpg.4aa136cfac93559902b840e235ac03d0.jpg

You should find more information on each book via MCS (mycomicshop.com).  You can find out who did the covers and who wrote story from that website.  Otherwise you can use https://www.comics.org/ for your information. Both are great resources.

I already use often these websites. Thank you but I don't really understand why this recommendation? What is the link with the thread?

Of course the one cover shown as an example has to be a Matt Wagner cover.:whee:Pulling on my heart strings here! He's my favorite comic creator for anyone who didn't know.

I'm thinking these covers need to find a home with an artist who can come up with a creative idea for these. Maybe a Comic Shop owner who can use as wall paper? Some kind of collage or backdrop for display purposes?

    Matt who?

In order to have a For Sale thread you need to abide by the rules of the marketplace.   They are well worth reading, because your posts can be removed from the boards if they don't conform to the guidelines. This will help you to attract more buyers as well, since this is how people expect to have books offered around here.

    Specifically: #5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Note that buyers and sellers have full responsibility for their transactions. CGC will not resolve disputes. Purchases and sales are done at your own risk.

    1. A sale thread must contain books that are CGC-certified or raw only, or items directly related to comics.
    2.  Any book that reprints material prior to 1980 is allowed in GSB.
    3. List your books only once, and in the appropriate sub-forum. Incorrectly placed threads or books posted in multiple places will be moved. Repeat offenders will have their threads pulled completely. Do not post copper or modern books in Golden/Silver/Bronze Age Only, and do not post golden, silver or bronze books in Copper / Modern Age Only. Opinions vary about when the bronze age ends and the copper age begins, so the moderation team considers 1980–1984 an overlap period; books from the start of 1980 through the end of 1984 are considered appropriate for either the G/S/B sub-forum or the C/M sub-forum. Books from before that period should be posted in G/S/B, and books from after that period should be posted in C/M. Books from any age are allowed in Mixed Age Threads and Misc.
    4. A sale thread must be an exclusive Boards-only offer. If the book is offered for sale through another venue such as a personal site, dealer site, eBay, etc., then it should not be offered here. If a book is offered elsewhere, it should be offered in the Sales Advertising board.
    5. A sale thread must list specific books with purchase prices. It is acceptable to bulk price, and/or note that package discounts may be available, but you must list a starting price that you will sell the item for.
    6. Either a scan or an estimated grade must be listed with each book offered for sale.
    7. Estimated shipping costs, times, and methods must be listed.
    8. Forms of payments must be listed. PayPal "goods and services" is an acceptable payment method, but Personal PayPal, aka "friends and family," is not allowed. It is also against the rules to ask for Personal PayPal via private message.
    9. Your post cannot violate the terms of service for your payment methods.  (NOTE: Specifically, no surcharges for accepting PayPal, or discounts for other methods)
    10. A return policy must be stated with any time limits indicated. It is acceptable to say "no time limit" or "no returns," or have time limits that vary by reason for a return, such as "30 day return for any reason. No time limit for returns not as described.” But time limits must be stated.
    11. If posting a trading thread you must list a dollar value price for the book that you will accept in trade value, and you must put "TRADE ONLY" in the title of your thread if you will not accept money.
    12. Threads are allowed to be bumped three times total and only one full day after falling off of the front page. This does not include "sold" notices, or truly useful informational updates. A post that inappropriately bumps a sale thread and is then deleted can still be seen by CGC.
    13. No spamming. Group your for sale items into one thread in each sub-forum. Attempts to take up front page real estate by creating multiple threads are not allowed.
    14. Links to outside sites for any purpose involving purchasing the offered books are not allowed.
    15. Threads selling digital codes or digital versions are not allowed.
    16. Raffles are not allowed.
    17. Mystery boxes are not allowed. You must list everything you are selling exactly as the buyer will receive it.  An exception will be allowed for stuff that is being offered for free.  Shipping charges for free merchandise can't exceed actual shipping costs.
    18. Pre-sale announcements belong in the Announcements thread. Do not start your own thread in the sales sub-forums for your sale until you are ready to post and sell your books. Posting a single book now and the rest at a stated time is considered an announcement, and is not allowed.

For a violation of rules #5-7 and 9-11, a warning will be issued stating the violation. If the violation is not corrected within a 24 hour period of the warning, the sale thread may be removed.

For violation of rules #1,3, 4, 8 and #12-18, the sales thread will be removed.

If 2 there are 2 or more violations of the rules, the thread will automatically be removed.

Repeated violations may result in a point assignment.

Sellers:  If your books are being offered to US residents only, please be kind and make a note of that in the title for our foreign board members.

Is it a joke? I specified everything except the return. I don't understand the attitude of some here... tell me what information aren't avalaible on my post?

    Good luck.

You're unique: I don't think there are many 'cover collectors,' didn't even know it was a thing.

But after thinking a little, it's not really any different than a "comic collector" who doesn't open his comics, or say, a collector of encapsulated comics.

[Except when it's time to sell,] I admire that you collected something you like. Walk to your own beat.

I'm exactly the opposite of what you think I don't want of these covers and it's why they are for sale, what I like are the inside of the books and I keep only it, I had some really problems to deal with the conditions of the covers because of my ocds and its the only way I found to finally be OK with my books. Now I'm also in hunt for coverless gems, you can find really rare GA stuff for nothing... trust it... all the value is about the condition in this hobby...

Hi @BA773 I see you closed your other thread on this subject. Don't give up on comics. Life is full of ups and downs and regrets have to be put behind us.

Aged 11 I used to cut the back covers off my Odhams Fantastic comics and pin them on my bedroom wall. The editors actually encouraged you to do so, calling the back page a "Pin Up". (Gold Key did this too). Those back pages looked colourful and hid the damp patches but in hindsight it wasn't the best decision I ever made.

How exactly did you remove the covers of your comics? Did you carefully remove the staples and then replace them? If so then you can still put them back together and bag and board them and they will look fine. Or if they have now lost their appeal then sell the complete comics. You often see ads for comics with the proviso "cover detached". There will always be millions more comics you can buy.

Or as @Yorick mentioned you could find a company that binds ten or twenty comics within a study cover. They usually trim the edges too.

And if old floppy comics don't give you joy what about a nice row of paperbacks or hardbacks on your bookshelf? They are easier than floppies to read without damaging them too. Panini, Hachette etc have produced numerous part works over the last decade.

Here is what I have just pulled out to read this week. We current comic collectors are just custodians of them for a period. Like people with antiques or classic cars at least some of our comics will survive whatever condition they are in and hopefully find their way to new owners when we are no longer around.

Again the reason why I started to collect comics is only to get the original paper... I hate reprint, and I read online everything I want to read but not collect or can't afford or find.

The binding was exactly the idea as I mentioned... but here is now the concernation about clean corners and stuff... as I said.

  8. So few weeks ago, after months and months of deals with my ocd's, to be concerned by the shape of my books which never had a perfect cover condition as i wanted, I took the path of REMOVING THE COVERS! Now few times after started this process and with already 75% of the books of my collection which have now the cover detached I realize it's an eternal mess... I m now concerned by corner and details like this... its a never ending madness... so now what I have to do? I guess nobody will buy books with detached cover... so what I do? Just sell the stuff which survived and throw out all the rest for recycling?

It's here a sad story and probably the death of another collector...

    What are your advise guys?

I'm still in balance between give up or not...

Could i simply totally avoid the condition a day or is it an eternal headache?

I think the OP was saying that the seller of the book he was looking at tended to be selling cards like the above pictured one rather than books as their primary merchandise.  If the OP didn't mean that, then they can elaborate, but that's what I took from it.

I would say that, if that's what the OP meant to convey, that someone who primarily deals in a collectible like graded Yu-Gi-Oh cards certainly could deal in comic books, even if it's not their primary focus.  If the book is graded, then I would say it's completely normal that a dealer could have come into possession of any book to sell.  If it's ungraded, my concern would only be whether they know how to grade said book and what their experience is in the grading standards of books vs. cards.

Assuming this is something on eBay, whenever it's been a fraudulent type of listing, it's almost always an account that sells something completely unrelated -- like bicycle parts, as an example -- that suddenly lists some major key for sale.  I've seen people post here listings like that where it's obvious the seller's account was hijacked for the purpose of listing a scam book.

All of that said, more info from the OP is necessary to answer what questions they have. hm

    Got it!

A.I. was my favorite NBA player to watch before Donovan Mitchell came along (played at my hometown college). I used to collect NBA & NFL cards as a kid until my small collection was stolen while I was in basic training in 93. Couldn’t pass up the D-Mitch cards as they were $1 a piece. Snatched up the Bronny card before it gets ridiculously high for no dang reason
