  1. Thanks Doc! I can see that you're a man of good taste!
  2. Thanks! And I agree, it's a really striking monster image and great use of the space. Just love these books!
  3. Only picked up one picture frame this weekend, but for the price it was pretty nice!
  4. Picked up a few AH dollar books at Lexington Comic Con this weekend. Nothing to really blow your skirt up (and nothing that I don't already have multiples of) but some solid buck picks.
  5. Had some luck dollar bin diving at Lexington Comic Con this weekend. I thought the days of finding these books in dollar bins were long over, but I scored the Planet and Jungle for $1 ea from one dealer, and the rest for 75 cents a pop from another. So, guys, those dollar bin dreams still come true. Get out there and get to diggin'! The Planet is super sharp, chance at a 9.8 I think.
  6. +1 Spend $50 up front and know you've got it secured, or spend the next 10 years trying to score one out of a dollar box. I'd rather pay up front if I knew I was going to have what I want. Great pick up!
  7. Otherwise, not shown here, I picked up a run of about 150 original owner, very sharp Batman books for $1 each, including nearly the entire run from around Knightfall through the Matt Wagner cover run, including my favorites, the entire Kelley Jones run. Also picked up a huge chunk of Crossed to complete my run. Also picked up several AH covers, though these are all duplicates for me. Otherwise, here's some highlights from the dollar bins. All in all it was a terrific show for bargain buying, and I have the sore back and feet to prove it!
  8. Lex Con Pt 2! Aside from Hulks, I was looking for dollar books, and I'm happy to say there was some excellent dollar diving to be found! Picked up these terrific Dave Stevens books, including this very sharp Planet Comics (real chance at a 9.8, I believe) for only a buck. I thought the days of finding these in bargain bins were over, but I accumulated these from two different dealers. So they're out there, folks!
  9. I'll just throw my mini con report here, as it's not worthy of a thread unto itself. Part 1! This past weekend I attended Lexington Comic Con. I am astounded by how big this show has gotten, it's become one of the best shows in the area. Last year they had some crazy problems with crowds and line management, but this year they seemed to have figured most of that stuff out, and it was a much smoother experience (though Saturday was still crazy packed.) I was on the hunt for cheap/"beat but complete" early Hulks. I was seconds late in trying to pick up a #3 (watched the guy close the deal just as I got to the booth) and I missed out on one more #3 from the dealer that sold me the #4, but over all I was pleased. And since those are the only books I was really looking for, there's my "Market Report": Early Hulks, selling fast in any shape if priced right! So, here's what I got:
  10. I love my HPB! They are a serious honey hole. The pricing is pretty hilarious, as they'll prop up any book that looks "old" as being valuable, and ask a lot of money for low/mid grade silver and bronze drek. However, if you look past that, they routinely dump very valuable moderns in their bins for $1 or $2 a pop. They don't seem to be hip to the fact that new comics can be valuable too. And while it's true that for the most part they're offering 10 cents a pop on comics, it is possible to game their system as well. I've routinely brought in aforementioned low/mid grade silver and bronze drek that I paid, say, $1 or $2 each for, that I can't give away on eBay or on the boards here, and had them pay me $5 to $10 a pop. The stores may not be consistent in their pricing, but I've had good luck locally.
  11. Thanks everyone, the last round of auctions went GREAT. I've just got one new piece up for BIN right now, a super sexy, large commission of Black Widow from Phil Noto. To be honest, it is started at my "don't really wanna sell it" price, but as always I am open to reasonable offers. Thanks again! Phil Noto Black Widow Commission
  12. Agree with the smaller batch. If you're not a super confident grader, and have never submitted to CGC before, those $5 rejects could pile up really quick, and then you're out a bunch of money for nothing, really. Cherry pick what you think are the 10 or 15 best books, send them off, and see how close you got. If you were right on, then go ahead and submit the large batch for prescreen. If you were way off, spend some time here on the boards, check out the PGM forums, listen the pros, etc, and improve your grading game. To me, paying $5 a pop for rejected prescreens is just throwing good money after bad.
  13. Just got back from a lunch break run to a local antique/junk store, as a friend send me a text about some new arrivals. Picked these up at a very nice price. I'm holding onto the Flash and one of the GA's, the rest I'll throw up for sale. They said they'd been buying tons of boxes from the estate of a former dealer, like 150 boxes at a time, and are just starting to go through it. They've already sold several complete sets of Looney Tunes glasses, so I'm hoping more of these Pepsi DC moon glasses show up!
  14. As Funkadelic instructs us: If it don't fit, don't force it.
  15. This is my approach to drinking beer. "Let the bottle do the work."
  16. And it's payday Friday too! AND it's sunny, and it's going to be around 77 degrees today...in Kentucky...on February 24th. Well , I was really happy, now I'm worried that the planet is melting. Ok well, enjoy it while you can!
  17. Bud Plant used to sell a "pack" of Sally Forths on clearance for, I dunno, 4 or 5 bucks, that included this issue, as well as a Xaime Hernandez cover as well, I believe? I had a couple of them. Lost it back when I did the big sell off about 15 years ago. Now that I'm rebuilding the collection, this one is a bear. It's funny how stuff you could barely give away at one point becomes so desired down the road.
  18. That's terrific! I'm a huge Blevins fan, and sadly there's not much of his stuff floating around out there.
  19. And this just happened to me yesterday! Auction ends successfully, an hour later the buyer messages me to say "I made a mistake about your ad, can you cancel the transaction?"
  20. Yup! I've been selling on eBay for 20 years, and I am no longer surprised by the weird stuff that sells.
  21. Will do. At the rate I'll be going, hope you're ready to wait a couple of years!
  22. I have an excel spreadsheet in my dropbox, which I can access via the app on my phone. For many, many years I carried a wrinkled, dog-eared, folded up piece of paper in my wallet, but those days are thankfully gone.
