  1. I wonder if the winner lives in Europe? Don Rosa is a rock star over there, and there are tons of devoted Duck fans. I guess at least a few of them have deep pockets as well.
  2. I had the Green Lantern print from this series, I believe signed by Gil Kane, came framed. Man, I loved the WB Gallery, those were fun times. Spent way too much money on lithos, animation cells, figurines, cookie jars, friggin' painted plates. Just great stuff.
  3. My understanding with MoKF is that there are copyright issues with some of the characters like Fu Manchu, so we're unlikely to get any reprints for some time.
  4. Omar has launched the Marvel Epic Collections reprint poll, runs for a week, I believe. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdVtIFWrRfJo1QkIYNkra1qFMmSySpeCuR4JjuEnaA7izZN4g/viewform If you need some ideas of what to vote for, I could really use Daredevil 14,16,20,21, and Avengers Fear the Reaper. NOT THAT I'M TRYING TO SWAY YOUR OPINION! :cough:
  5. Come on over man, Mom got us some juice boxes and said we can order a pizza!
  6. Yes, I am generally staying away from mixing Mafex and ML, but the Uncanny X-Force guys worked out ok. Deadpool may be a little tall, but put him in the back row and it works ok. I was really bummed about the Mafex Thor, because he is a beautiful figure, but for scale purposes, he just wouldn't work. Even when he was on sale a week ago for $60, I couldn't do it, because he wouldn't fit with my displays, and I don't need an extra Thor just hanging out. So I'm sticking with the 80th Anniversary Thor for my Avengers for the time being.
  7. Now that 20th Anniversary Cap is here, my Avengers feel rounded out. I still need a Black Knight, and maybe a Yellowjacket, and then I'll feel pretty much complete (barring the release of a Perez style Beast.) I've got the Giant Man Haslab ordered, and of course I'll get that Silver Age Wasp when she comes out, but I think those will go in a separate Silver Age style display. Oh, i guess that means I need a Wasp for this lineup as well, hrm. The blue one on the retro card would fit into this lineup pretty well, but I think she's gotten pricey. Resisting the urge to pick up a Hellcat or Moondragon because ugh, who cares? Also, happy to say the MAFex Uncanny X-Force Deadpool and Wolvie slot in nicely with the ML Uncanny X-Force. Now we just need a new Dark Archangel!
  8. Pile of Loot shipment arrived yesterday. Man, the BBTS sales have been great lately, and now that you can add them to your POL, it's very nice. Pretty random assortment of stuff, some sale pieces, and some I bought straight up. I'm still looking for a sealed case of the Void ML wave, but in the meantime I'm glad I got a Power Princess at retail. The sales on the MAFex pieces have been terrific as well. Paid full price for Psylocke, but the rest were a bargain.
  9. I've recounted my FedEx frustrations a few times, so, short version, on multiple occasions I've caught them pulling up to the house, opening the door, then pulling away, updating the status to "No one at home to sign" rather than get out of the car and deliver it. Sometimes I made it outside in time to flag them down, but usually I was too late to realize what was happening. For some time now, I've had my FedEx packages redirected to Walgreens. It's not super convenient, but at least the packages show up on time, and I can get them without much hassle. SO Yesterday, I knew I had a CLink package coming, and I knew I had redirected it to Walgreens. However, I kept getting delivery updates, and I soon realized that I actually had a second package, from BBTS, arriving on the same day! By the time I realized I'd made a mistake, it was too late. I put in the request to hold the package at Walgreens, but they didn't see it, or ignored it, and I got notice that the package had been delivered at home. When I got home, here it was. Not only could they not be bothered to put it on the porch, they didn't even get it halfway onto the walkway. And the grass was wet, as it had been raining. I really hate FedEx.
  10. Thanks friend, here's to better times ahead.
  11. Your opinion is plenty good! I'm glad you're enjoying TF, I'm hoping it'll click for me at some point. I may trade-wait the Joe stuff, but I'm at least curious about it. And thanks bud, you and me both!
  12. Wow, it's already March, and I've only read a handful of books. Got distracted at the beginning of the year reading some books I got for Christmas, including Dungeons and Dragons Art & Arcana: A Visual History (highly recommended, a beautiful book with tons of classic D&D artwork, and I say that as someone who has never played the game), and Werner Herzog's new memoir, "Every Man for Himself, and God Against All", a truly riveting and hallucinatory autobiography. Good stuff. Oh, also read Bob Odenkirk's memoir "Comedy, Comedy, Comedy, Drama", a must read for fans, or comedy nerds in general. Anyways, been dealing with various health issues, in and out of the hospital, so it was easier to carry "book" books instead of trailing comics around anywhere. Now I'm getting back into life, so I can resume the reading of colorful pamphlets! Love and Rockets 13, 14 - I always need to reread a primer to remember what's going on with Beto's labyrinthine stories, as we're so many branches into the family tree of Fritz, Petra, Luba, etc. Still enjoy them. Jaime, per usual, provides the easier pleasures, as his Maggie strips remain delightful and enjoyable in even the smallest chunks (really enjoying the Tonta stories), and I'm also digging the Animus backups. Giant Robot Hellboy 2,3 - this wasn't my favorite spin-off, but I still welcome any entry in the Hellboy universe. An amusing enough trifle. Transformers IDW Phase 2 Volume 11 - slowly but surely working my way through the entire IDW TF canon, nearly have Phase 2 wrapped up. Still really loving this stuff, though I've read most of it before. Soon we'll be getting into the stuff I never read, Phase 3 and the reboot. Aliens (volume whatever, the most recent Marvel series) 2,3,4 - well, at least Salvador Larroca isn't here tracing NECA action figures anymore, and I guess these stories aren't BAD, but they fall well short of the glory years of the Dark Horse stuff. Still waiting for Marvel to do something interesting with the license. May be waiting for a while. The Black White and Blood mini looks promising, and the What If looks weird, so I guess there are some twists and turns coming up. Hellboy Winter Special : The Yule Cat - a fun little one-shot. Transformers 2-5 (Skybound) - still not really getting into this, I think I just keep buying it so @Cat won't be sad. I hate thinking of a sad Cat! I'll stick with it for a while to see if it goes anywhere, but the approach and artwork aren't really my thing so far. I haven't read any of the GI Joe stuff yet, has anyone else? Ok, that's about 25 books by my reckoning, feels like another year where I'm going to fall well short of the goal!
  13. Omar just announced a couple of weeks ago that an omni of the Secret Wars Battleworld stuff will be coming in January 2025. (It's the second announcment in the video, first is The End Omnibus.)
  14. I'm assuming that they'll eventually release an omnibus with all of the various spinoffs included. Of course, that could be a while, and nothing is guaranteed, but I didn't like it enough that I can't wait.
  15. I use the raw mailers all of the time, and love them, but I would hesitate to ship a slab in a mailer without further protection. I DO think these would be nice for packing and protecting a slab, but I would still put that inside of a proper box. MCS has similar mailers for their slabs, and when I've ordered several slabs they've had their mailers, plus the added protection of another box. So, I do believe a slab mailer can be a handy piece of a proper slab shipment, but I wouldn't depend upon it to be the sole protection.
  16. This is my concern. They look nice, and secure, and I'd consider it, but do we know anything about how they let the books breathe, account for offgassing, etc. I'd like to have something like this, but I have concerns about rust, yellowing etc over time. Would love to hear more about them if anyone has any science, or even anecdotal data.
  17. The picture shown is of the trade paperback version from 2014. The trade paperback line ran 2009-2015, and indeed, they had variants like this. I don't know if they're particularly valuable, but you don't see them often. The cover of the hardcover Marvel Masterworks Avengers 6/70 has different artwork, as shown below, both the silver mainline covers, and DM variant. There's also another trade reprint series with the artwork shown in the third cover below, as well as a silver trade version from Barnes and Noble, IN ADDITION TO the Mighty Marvel Masterworks, with yet ANOTHER cover. Phew! SO, it can be very confusing, as there are several different collected versions of this material running around out there, with a variety of covers! Why does the trade version have different artwork from the hc version? Who knows, it's odd, I'd say the version you have is the better cover for sure. Avengers King Size Special 2 is a very cool cover, for sure, but Avengers 57, with the first appearance of Vision, is an all time classic!
  18. Guy won an auction, within minutes of close sent a cancelation request, "ordered by accident". dardas63
  19. Very happy to see the thread resurrected! Love the colors on the Bozo machine.
  20. I was an 80's kid, so by the time the 90's stuff rolled around, I was moving on to other things. I had a subscription to X-Men, and when Jubilee showed up I was like "Eh", and then Gambit was "meh", and then Bishop made me finally drop the title. It had just gotten so convoluted by then, in my eyes Claremont had lost the road map. I dutifully bought all zillion covers of X-Men #1, but dropped that one after the 2nd issue. Age of Apocalypse eventually brought me back (and then I dropped it again, only to return with Grant Morrison). My sweet spot is Paul Smith through Mark Silvestri (though I definitely love Cockrum, and like Byrne, but I was reading them as reprints, rather than fresh off the stands.) Anyway, there's no wrong way to love the X-Men, and the good thing for you being a 90's guy is that there is no shortage of stuff to collect!
  21. I totally get it, but since Gambit is going to be buried somewhere in the back where I don't have to see him very often, I don't mind the pins ha He is pretty much my lowest priority X-Man. Well, I guess that would actually be Jubilee, or Bishop, as they only Jubilee I have is the Blue/Gold 3-pack version, and I don't have any Bishop at all. Did I mention that I have unresolved anger issues towards 90's X-Men comics?? The Beetle and Booster are just good enough to buy, but still pale in comparison to what DC Direct gave us. You're absolutely right, the goggles are the biggest misstep. As figures they're fine, but just fine. They are pretty bland, not much detail. But since it's Beetle and Booster, I grabbed them at a Target sale some time ago.
  22. Yes, I did see Thor, and I was tempted. He looks like a really nice figure in and of itself, but apparently he is undersized in comparison to Legends, which is where I'd display him. Since I've already got the 80th Ann ML Thor for my Avengers display, I don't really need another one, and he'd be kind of an island unto himself. Still, scale issues aside, he looks snazzy, it's tempting! I was tempted by the Kyle/Kilowog pack, as they looks like fairly classic takes on the characters. When McFarlane does the classic costumes, I am tempted here and there. I did buy the Blue Beetle/Booster Gold 2-pack for my Blue and Gold shrine, and they're decent enough figures. I have the Knightfall Batman as well, and he's actually really nice. But with the cost going up (can't believe how they jacked the price up on the Crisis on Infinite Earths wave), and character design/selection not usually being to my taste, it's easy enough to pass on the line as a whole. Between old DCUC and DC Direct, there's tons of DC product to suit my needs. I went ahead and grabbed Psylocke since it looks like she scales fairly well with ML, and seems superior to the old Juggernaut wave Psylocke. She should fit in well. I am tempted by Gambit as well, as it looks like a beautiful toy, but man, i really, really hate Gambit, so I can't justify the spend. I'll probably just get the X-Men 97 version at some point, and put him in the back of the crowd ha
  23. I am honestly not a Superman guy at all, but I always liked those designs, and they looked like such lovely figures, when they went on sale, I grabbed them. I will likely buy more DC figures from them, since I'm not a fan of what McFarlane is doing with the license these days. Marvel Legends has me mostly covered on Marvel figures, though some of the Mafex stuff looks nice .I did order the Psylocke rerelease, as it looks like she'll scale well with ML.
  24. Yes, the cape really is fantastic on the one I have, so I'd imagine they're all pretty spectacular. I have the Cyborg Superman and Steel in my Pile of Loot at BBTS, and those capes look amazing.
  25. Lots of fun stuff! My first Mafex was the Knightfall Batman (Azbats) and I was amazed at the quality. I mean, for the price they'd BETTER be nice, but I was still blown away by the materials, the articulation, etc. So I've added a few more via BBTS sales. At $100+ they're still a big pill to swallow, but at $60-ish they're a little easier to justify. But I'll definitely be getting more.
